Default How Do You Organise Your Cards?

    Title says it all :P

I'm just interested because I have a lot of trouble deciding how to organise my cards because there are so many.

Originally, I kept them all in one folder, using those poly-pockets that are made up like nine card holders (eighteen if you count front and back together). I had all my Bulbasaur in one slot, then all my Ivysaur, and so on in National Dex order so that one side of one sheet had the first nine Pokémon (the Kanto Starter lines). Used to use front and back, but now I only use one side because of the number of cards in each slot. To clarify further, I only kept one of each card in a slot, no duplicates of one from the same set - they were stored separately.
However, recently, the folder is beginning to burst and so have several of the individual slots due to the number of cards in them. To that end, I've been trying to figure out a way to re-organise them. I'd begun to put them into their sets, so I bought more card pockets and acquired two new folders. To make things even more beneficial, in each slot for the Base Set, I'd store one of the card plus two spares in case they were needed. However, this did not work as, by the time I had more-or-less done all the sets, I could not find the cards I wanted when I wanted them.
So, using the same one card plus two spares system, I have begun to organise them into a modified National Dex order (everything the same, but with Pichu moved so that it is with Pikachu for sake of deck making made easy). What I'm doing currently is having in the first slot of the nine card pocket is my Base Bulbasaur, then in the next slot the next Bulbasaur that I have that came after that in terms of release. So by the time I'm finished, the first pocket has four Bulbasaur and five Ivysaur. I leave the other side of the sheet empty so that if I get any other Bulbasaur or Ivysaur along the way, then I'm not moving everything, just the ones in that sheet and, once that sheet is filled, I'll just pull in a new empty one and carry on the process. I have filled three folders and I've only done up to Celebi. I've run out of folder space and pockets to use XD

I've attached some images of the way I currently organise my cards to aid the explanation.

So, yeah, that's how I do it.

What I wanna know is what people think of my system and I wanna know your systems - maybe people can learn from other people in terms of how best to organise them.

If they're in a pile then it's Pokémon, Trainer cards (Inc. Supporters and other Misc.) and the Energy cards (alphabetized.)

If in a folder, then same order, but with the Pokémon being alphabetized.

This question is the bane of my existence as a TCG collector because I still haven't found a way to organize them that satisfies me. Right now I have four separate binders.

The main one is my favorite card of each Kanto, Johto, Hoenn and Sinnoh Pokemon, arranged in a redone order that organizes the Pokemon by their type and puts members of the same family next to each other, unlike the actual National Dex order. All of my BW cards come after Arceus in this book since there's not enough BW cards to bother putting them in a separate book yet.

Originally I had only one extra binder after this, which was all of my other cards arranged in National Dex order, but over the last couple of years, there were too many to keep them like this. Last year I made a third binder that has my second favorite card of each Pokemon in plain National Dex order. This third binder also has all of my Trainers and Energy cards shoved at the end, because those were originally in my main book but got uprooted for the BW cards. A few weeks ago the second book got so big that I shoved all of the Kanto pages into another separate binder, since the Kanto Pokemon are the ones with a ton of cards, making my fourth binder of cards overall.

Yeah, I totally can't think of a way to do this that I actually like. :(

I keep them in folders. I have 4 folders which are 2 folders of 10 9 pocket pages, 1 folder with 14 4 pocket pages and a binder. I organise them by which theme deck or booster pack they came from and then I organise those by the types of pokémon and trainer, support and stadium cards are organised alphabetically. If I have pokémon in the same evolutionary family which came from different booster packs or theme decks I do switch the cards' places to have the evolutionary family in a row together. I also put the movie promotional cards close to each other and put the Eevee evolutionary family close to each other in national pokédex number order with some energy cards of its type above each one in my 4 pocket page folder because I do have at least one of each of the 7 evolved forms of Eevee and many Eevee basic cards.

in a binder, in national dex order. I used to put them in rainbow order (fighting/brown, fire/red, electric/yellow, etc) way back when. If I have more than one of a pokémon I put the oldest card first, then put in the rest however I want.
If I have a card in english & another language (I would just say japanese, but I have a spanish pikachu...), I put the different language one on top of the english one.
This doesn't work to well when I get new cards, because then I have to move all my cards over to fit the new ones. It's alright if it's 3rd or 4th generation, since I don't have too many of those, but if I get 1st or 2nd generation...it's not fun.
Oh, and if I have any doubles, I only put one in.

I should use your idea. I use Poly Pocket that are made with 9 holders.

I first put all movie cards in front, then these random 'Pokemon' cards, then the rare holos and Ultra rare third, then comes Burger King and McDonald cards, then the other trainer cards and stuff. But I put them back to back.

I put them back to back.
I should put them in the national dex order.

Well I go by set, with Base Set being the first in my folder (need more of them actually, should go get some more), and then the cards go in the order that each set was in (which is essentially alphabetical for all sets up to BW, which was in Dex order)
