Default Masaaki Iwane: Pokémon anime originally slated for 18-month run

Pokémon animation director Masaaki Iwane (岩根雅明) has stated on a discussion board on his site that the original run for the Pokémon animated television series was 1½ years, partly in response to a poster's musings on the seemingly unaging lead character.

    That's... interesting, but I don't see how it's newsworthy.

Man Bulbabot, sometimes you try to hard. Still interesting, and they probably never predicted this long of a run.

How come Bulbabot never responds to me when I PM him? I think he hates me.....

How about because it was posted less than a week ago, and is a fact newly revealed?

But is it important? To me it seems like a topic for a forum, not something to be posted on the news. It's trivia.

I guess the anime was originally planned to end after Orange, then. That would explain why it was more story-oriented for the first two regions.

And that explains a lot about the show itself, but it's still not news x)

And then it went downhill story wise. :(

1½ × 52 = 78 episodes, which is approximately the length of the Indigo League part of the series by itself.

    Eh, what story?

The anime never had much of a story either, personally I'm sort of glad the days of Ash basically doing favors for his badges are gone.

Most of the episodes were interesting and original back then, which is something the series is lacking now.

Just because we had them first, they weren't that much different from episodes now...

    That's true.

In fact, my opinion is like the exact opposite of Kasumi's. XD

I like all the later seasons and newer episodes better than the first season (I think that's partially due to the fact I've seen every season one episode 1,000s of times or more in reruns, lol).
