People are just afraid of admitting that they play Pokémon.

People who play pokemon are 7-12 year olds. Anyone older should be afraid.

All polls done on forums I know have indicated otherwise. Then again, I'm not sure about the fandom at large. It would help if the people who went to JAA would say what the larger crowd was, the little kids or the teenagers and/or older.

Little kids use the Internet to a lesser extent, so that's why you probably not see them on all forums.

Some fans like me have grown up with Pokémon, that's why you'll probably see more teenagers/older on the Internet. But that does not mean we are that many.

According to GameSpot.com, that makes D/P the fastest selling Pokemon games EVER.

With the run-away success of the DS, I'd say it was always rather likely that when the DS's crowning glory finally came out that it was going to shift in record breaking numbers.

I can't really find any figures that incorporate Europe's figures into the totals, but on American and Japanese sales alone, R/S sold 13 million, G/S sold 14 million and R/B sold 20 million (incidentally, Yellow racked up 8.26 million, and is of course the best selling individual Pokemon game to date). With Diamond/Pearl already sitting at 6 million a week after the American launch, it's obviously feasible that R/S will be surpassed rather easily - G/S shouldn't be much of an obstacle either.

Unfortunately, since these numbers don't include Europe, it's impossible to say whether or not Europe's release will have any impact on sending D/P above R/B's sales, but if America follow's Japan's lead - by the end of the year the games will be about half-way there at least. After that, it's all just a case of keeping the momentum up, something that sounds a lot tougher on paper than it is in reality, considering that Ruby and Sapphire are still selling in many game shops (at their full price I might add...) to this day.

And of course, if D/P manages to do that - they will take R/B's crown of the best selling video games ever...
