Thread: Viz Media License "Pokémon Black & White" Manga

Anime News Network reports that Viz has acquired the license for a "Pokémon Black & White" manga series.

Although the article shows the cover of the "Master!! Pokémon Black and White" walkthrough manga, I have yet to see confirmation that it is this series, or any of the other many series' based on Black and White.

I sure hope they're not trolling and it's only BW Special. This had better be an independent title instead of one we're getting anyway.

Hmm, 4.99? That's cheap even for Viz Kids! Although since it's a walkthrough that's probably the title they're claiming then.

This seems to indicate that the title that got licensed was Special, not Master! Pokemon Black & White. For starters, there aren't any characters in the latter named "Black" and "White."

"White has a burgeoning career as a Trainer of performing Pokémon." That's accurate to the Adventures BW arc, right?

So without any collected editions to work from, could Viz be taking the released chapters and collecting them by themselves? Kinda sounds like the way they handled Adventures in the late nineties, at least in the way they released small scale, graphic novel-like "single issue" releases before the proper volumes.

Maybe Viz got confused about which BW manga they're releasing. I mean they have a pic up, but have a different summary... In any case, BW Special volumes probably won't be released for over a year, and it's a bad idea just to use the magazines...I hope it's another series.

"They" don't have a pic up. Anime News Network is the one who chose the image for their report on the press release.

It seems likely, but it's kind of hard to tell at this point.

Okay, I found a pic at the kuriousity manga review site, and it indeed looks like it's PokeSpe that Viz is going to release this summer. How this is going to work out is something I'm going to have to keep wondering.

You disappoint me, Viz.

1. Think about it for a second. The BW chapter has been out in Japan for what?...a few months? There is little material to even release

2. Chronological order. How on Earth can they release this and expect ANYONE to understand what the hell is going on with its random plots?

3. Volume release...when was the last time Viz has done something likes this? Early '00? Back then, Pokespe actually had enough material to be released for this (If I recall, it was on GSC in Japan)

The only good thing about this is that it's in English

Hell, this would be a great opportunity to release Pocket Monsters in the US

At least they have constant and stable releases

I love this series and I like that it's being released in English and all

But not when it's going to be like this....
