....in that case, there was an in-story explanation for why some characters were 2-D animation while others were live-action. Such an explanation would probably not work for a live-action Pokémon movie....
And who says Pikachu has to appear at all?

I cannot believe I actually read that.
This is Pokemon. Pikachu is the mascot of pokemon. Of course it'd be in.

I don't think it'd be a good idea but I'd still watch it cuz its pokemon.

I, for one, would want the film to be aimed at the older fans. If the younger fans want some Pokémon action, there's thirteen anime movies they're welcome to watch.
Yes, Nintendo/Game Freak/Creatures, Inc., we older fans exist.
I'd just like to say, before anything else, that James Cameron had a lot more of my respect before he made the absolute abortion that is "Avatar." Which is a huge shame, because he directed "Aliens" in 1986 which is pretty much one of the best movies ever. If a Pokemon Live-Action movie is ever made, I hope that law enforcement officers and S.W.A.T. teams keep him at least five miles away from it at all times.

Realistically, the chances of a live-action movie happening are incredibly slim. Yes, "Transformers" and "GI Joe" happened and they were successful (well, "Transformers" was anyway, have no idea about the latter) but the difference between them and Pokemon is that the audience who loved Transformers back in the day are adults now and would enjoy a more serious movie. Pokemon is still going strong, and it's main audience is still only 9 - 12 years old.
For live-action to really work and be good, it really needs more subtleties and serious natures than the cartoon it's based from. Not constantly throughout the whole movie, but it should be there. At the moment, I don't see Pokemon being able to pull that off.
BUT WITH ALL THAT BEING SAID:
If "Pokemon: The Live-Action Thriller!" was in fact made, would ANY of you be able to NOT go and see it? Even for the total LOL-factor. I sure as fuck know that I would pay good money to see it.

I'm almost certain that it would garner a cult following not unlike the Super Mario Bros movie if it was unsuccessful at the box office.
Just 'cause. It's freaking Pokemon.
Knowing the insane plots Hollywood can pull out their arse, they could have an in-plot reason. *points to the Mystery Dungeon series* How did the PC know the name of his partner already? He obviously played the Pokémon games.
Also remember, we have Palkia who can distort space, and Giratina who owns his own dimension...something can easily be made up.
The ben 10 movie had an incredibl low budget. There's a reason why the specail effects sucked so hard.
As we all know, Nintendo will do anything for money, so theres about a 50-50 chance that a pokemon movie will be made.
Now, as we all know, some of nintendos movies *coughthewizardcough* and *coughthesupermariobrosmoviecough* have sucked horribly. BUT, nintendo are not that much of a media whore as they were in the 80's and 90's.
so again, theres a 50-50 chance of the movie being good, as nintendo probably learned there lesson.
The movie should be based of the games, not the anmie.
Also, if they can hire some real good specail effect artists and get it in imax 3-D, I WILL see it.
