Pokemon Live-Action Movie

Discuss the possibility for a Pokemon live action movie here.

I like the concept, but it would probably end up really crappy. Just look at the Ben 10 Live-Action movie (Yes, I watched it out of curiosity, and the Aliens looked extremely fake. Plus, the movie was crap). If they do make it, I hope it has no relation whatsoever, and I wouldn't like it to be based on a particular game. Rather, make it in a custom setting with original characters. Hell, maybe make it take place in our world, I don't know... Ideas?

Huh. I don't know, I'd be too worried about how they'd depict the Pokémon. Even a Digimon Tamers-type idea might not be great... I dunno, it's like the idea of a Zelda movie. Sounds kind of neat in theory, but best left to animation.

hmm it would be interesting and how CGI is progressing im sure the could make them (pokemon) ok... though i dont know how some would be depicted... lapras seems like it would be easy...same with meowth,persian,and some of the dog like ones but i dont know how a good pikachu would be made...

It would be terrible. It does sound like a neat idea, but I think it would be poorly executed. I would only watch it to see how bad it is (Dragon Ball Evolution anyone?).

I think it should be directed by Micheal Bay! Just look at how much effects go into the animated movie explosions, with Micheal Bay, imagine that multiplied by 1000!

If that were to happen, explosions would happen every time a Pokemon is released from a Pokeball, or whenever an attack makes impact, like in the Power Rangers...

If done right, a live action Pokémon movie could be awesome. If done right that is, which has absolutely no chance of happening any time soon. (Just like how a live action Dragon Ball could be AMAZING, but instead we got DBE.)

If it were to take place in "our world" however... That would honestly ruin the premise for me. The whole concept is of Pokémon being mysterious creatures which are naturally in the wild and in harmony with humans. Place it "our world" and have the Pokémon jumping out of a Game Boy or something... Well, you've essentially got Digimon by a different name, haven't you? And as much as I love Digimon, it isn't Pokémon.

As far as a premise for a potential movie, I'd honestly think that any of the main series games would be a good source material.

This idea would be HORRIBLE. You'd obviously have to CGI the pokemon so either they would get realistic textures and loose the cool but friendly form, or they would continue to look cartoony and look out of place.

Either way, a Pokemon live action film would have absolutely horrible Pokemon. As for the plot, be my guest to figure that out.

Super Mario Bros the movie was crap. So would a live action Pokemon movie.

Yeah, a live action would be really risky. Unless they realworld people, real background, and they cut/paste the Pokemon in, like they did for this Black and White Tom & Jerry movie. That I would watch just to laugh my pants off for

The SMB movie was also made almost 20 years ago and was the first video game-based live-action movie so they had no previous experience with such things.

Not to mention it was the best thing ever.

I honeslty wouldn't object to a live action Pokémon movie one day. Give it just the right amount of cheesiness, heart, shout-outs, and outlandish concepts, and it could potentially be really fun (although probably only to people like me who love these kinds of things for the Narm Charm). Although now or nowhere in the near future is the right time. I don't really see Nintendo going for it, anyway.

I dont know. I thought that DBE was a good idea... until i saw it. probanly one of the worst movies I ever saw.

I say leave it to CGI, simple logic being take the Resident Evil films. They REALLY screwed up the plot with

Raccoon City getting nuked actually SPREADING the virus, not to mention the actors barely resemble the game counterparts (except Jill, she was a good match). While Resident Evil Degeneration, a CGI film, fits perfectly with the games and there was no way they could've screwed up the characters unless they were really bad at making them.
