Thread: How are the other Pokemon manga?

"Other" as in not Special, ETOP, that shojo one, or DPA.

I'm planning on importing quite a few of the different manga. They're surprisingly cheap, most of them are under $10. Though I am importing them so..

Anyway, how are them? You don't hear about them online much.

I don't really like Special, so don't try to compare it to that if you feel like you have to compare it to another Pokemon manga.

I would say check out Golden Boys and Zensho
and then there is a manga based on the diamond and pearl anime, the art looks pretty good (from what I can see on the cover) maybe check it out too

I like How I Became A Pokemon Card. Unfortunately, it's never been translated (most likely because of copyright issues since it shows direct card art). But the stories are really cute, and there's some about the pokemon themselves! It plays fast and loose with its own canon, though (the first story in particular doesn't seem to be in the same continuity as the others, given that it puts the official discovery of pokemon at about TEN YEARS AGO, which other stories contradict ferociously).

My life ambition is to find the French translated version and read it. :O (I can read French but I can't really speak it)

Pocket Monsters is brilliant, best Pokemon manga on the market. Definitely get that one if you can.

this one is only for comedy though (as far as I've seen anyway)

well some people enjoy manga that aren't just comedy,
so no not a negative, just depends on what a person is looking for

Don't read Special

A lot of the manga are great, and I recommend them, however most haven't been released English translated.

Special's good. It's just highly overrated.

Meh. It's like the Archie Sonic comics, and SatAM, to me. Good in it's own continuity but when you think about it in comparison to their source continuity...No.

Actually, most has.
