I'm really not sure about the POV in this fic. Madame Boss comes across as pre-psychotic, I think...so tell me what *you* think!
"You foolish boy!" I slap him again and he just keeps smirking. I want to have him cast in irons and thrown in the dungeon for the rest of his days just so I'll never have to see that smirk again.
One of my guards lets out a delayed gasp. I could see her out of the corner of my eye; she had been building to it with wide eyes.
He turns slightly to look at her, and I see that look in his eyes again. Those eyes--I want to scratch them out but even with them he will never see what a scandal he's caused.
"You look at me when I'm talking to you!" I scream, my voice hitting a note I didn't know I was capable of as I grab his chin, forcing him to look down towards me (when did he get so tall? He was always a small child, but now he'll tower over most of my agents)
"You weren't talking, mother," he grins and I want to have him gagged. "Now, are you going to slap me again and get this over with, or can I head along?"
I raise my hand as though to do just that, but turn my hand at the last second to scratch his face with my signet ring. "You're no son of mine, you little brat," I growl.
He doesn't even flinch. "You always say that. You may not wish to consider me your son, but you know I'm the best thing this team of yours ever had. You know that I could run it better than you ever did. All I'd need is for you to, say, have a tumble down the stairs." His pupils narrow and he has the look of a rabid cat that you know could tear you apart just as casually as it would lick its paws.
"...you little brat..." I repeat.
"...But that," he smirks as he starts walking away and the guards part for him, "would be quite the scandal. And we don't want that, do we, Mother?"
He leaves with the same little brunette he came in with, the sight of which incurred my anger in the first place.
It would also be a scandal if he were to turn up face-down in the river with six shots in his back. But that doesn't stop me from thinking about it and I'm positive I'm smirking.
