NOOOOO!! Why did you kill May and Prof. Oak? He wasn't even that old!!! T_T

Anyways, good fanfic. But if you want a word of advice try not to repeat that much the anime formula and plot. A few changes like actually fighting the Viridian Gym (now that is has a regular Leader, it should be open all the time) and make Gary lose and return there at the end of the Kanto jouney, or something like that, would be great.

You'll see what happens after Pewter. And May, her death will be explained in full in chapter 3. This story takes place 20 years after EP001, so, Oak died of old age. Tracey is currently in mourning at the Sea Cottage.


If it makes you feel better, Oak died but a year before this story tskes place.

Eh, but life goes on... He would be around 70 then... Though I wanna hear what happened with May there.

I can tell you this: Her husband was not Drew. In fact,as Leaf will reveal, Drew turned out to be a bit of a pimp.

In addition, May had retired from contest at the time of her death.

Nice, killing May and Oak off.

Good fic too although try to separate the paragraphs a little more

Chapter Three: Viridian Forest!! Paras, Kakuna, and encounter with Duncan!!

Gary grunted as he trudged uphill. His backpack felt heavy as it tried to obey the laws of gravity and fall down. Leaf Birch, the girl they had recently come across, was a good ways ahead of him. Gary and Kitty had tried to lose Leaf throughout Viridian City, but the girl kept finding them again. And still Leaf had not told the Ketchum siblings anything about her past. Gary cleared his throat and prepared to ask her...

"Leaf?" he asked.

"Mm-hm?" came the reply.

"I was wondering if you could tell us a bit about your past."

Leaf stopped in her tracks.

"My mother's name was May," she said softly. "She knew your father- traveled with him, even. She was a great Contest Coordinator. But then she retired and became a Pokemon Ranger after marrying my dad- Brendan Birch."

"Our dad talked about May," Kitty chimed in. "He said that she was in love with a boy named Drew."

Leaf's fist clenched and she gritted her teeth "Yeah, well, it turned out that Drew was a bit of a pimp. Mom dumped him like the loser he was.

"She died saving some Zigzagoon. It was flooding, and.. and..." Leaf stopped here, her eyes welling up with tears. "I don't want to talk about it right now. Later, okay?"

Gary and Kitty looked at each other. Weedle, who had been out this whole time had just beaten up a Burmy that had been minding its own business. Weedle suddenly began to glow. A white light enveloped Weedle, until it disappeared. A Kakuna was all that remained.

"Kuuuna!" it cried. Gary and kitty were astonished Kitty picked up Kakuna.

"Ohhhh, you are so CUTE!" she squealed

"Naaaaaaaaa..." Kakuna cooed. Gary pretended to vomit, then turned around after he heard a strange voice:

"Parassss!" It was a Paras. After reviewing its Pokedex entry, Gary concluded that he needed Paras. Sending out Spearow, the face-off began. After several hard-hitting Pecks and one failed attempted capture, Paras was all Gary's.

"So, I'm guessing that's what, your THIRD Pokemon?" a voice said. Gary whirled around to face Duncan, who had appeared behind Gary like some spectre. "Let's see what you've got," Duncan sneered. "I challenge you to a Double Battle!"
(I have decided to end chapter 3 with a cliffhanger. Check back tomorrow for chapter 4: "Fierce Double Battle!! Gary vs. Duncan!!!)

Starting at the Cerulean Gym chapter, chapters will increase dramatically in size and be added twice a week.

Will Lucas, Brendan, Jimmy and Marina appear? It would be great that they knew Ash and their children (Jimmyy and Marina must be married by now) meet Gary. There is Brendan as Leaf's father, so I hope Lucas gets a chance too.

How dramatic was May's death! Poor girl.
