I also have a sidestory planned around a superheroine Lotta portrays named Mistress Fever...but before that, I have a few more tales.

    @Chimchar98; @Chaosj2; @Tophat Dragoneye; @Soulmaster;

Week 30: Team Rainbow Hunts the Red Gyarados

(real tale: The Seven Swabians and the Monster)

"There were once seven Pokemon who were very close friends." Brock begins as he settles in his chair. "Their leader, as it were, was a Torchic named Phoenix. The others were Valencia the Charmander, Alyssa the Pikachu, Midori the Chikorita, Saphir the Squirtle, Indi the Vaporeon, and and Lydia the Liepard. Since their names reflected the colors of the rainbow, they liked to call themselves Team Rainbow."

He gets up long enough to retrieve his guitar, then continues. "Team Rainbow wished to be great heroes, and so took it upon themselves to travel around the world in search of adventures."

The crowd claps along as Brock performs a solo guitar rendition of the Zelda theme, but as he speaks again, he starts slowing the triumphant melody down. "But while Phoenix and the others dreamed of being known as heroes, Lydia brought up a great point--how would they be heroes if they had no way to defend themselves?" With that, his performance comes to a halt.

"They spent several months pooling together enough money for each of them to have a weapon, then delivered it all to the town smithy, who crafted each of them a weapon." Brock explained. "Between the seven of them, there were two swords, two bows, a staff, a flail, and a spear."

"One day, on a day very much like today, Team Rainbow set out for the Lake of Rage." Brock then decides to play an upbeat melody reminiscent of an NES game. "They'd heard about the red Gyarados that terrorized the people of that land, and took it upon themselves to drive it away once and for all."

He then plays a melody reminiscent of walking. "They set out early the next morning, and walked for a very long time."

After playing his 'walking" melody for a while, Brock begins slowing it down as the lights slowly dim to mimic the passage of time. "By the time they got to Mahogany Town, the sun was setting." he explains as he finishes the song, under dim lighting. "They made camp on a meadow just outside town, had dinner, and swapped tales of adventures they hoped to have before drifting off to sleep." he continues as he sets his guitar aside and gets up from his chair.

He sprawls on the stage and feigns sleeping for a moment before continuing "Suddenly, around midnight, Phoenix was startled awake by a buzzing noise, and concluded that it was a monster bent on attacking the camp!"

In character as a young girl, he screams "Everyone, wake up! We're under attack!"

He continues as himself "The other six woke up with a jump and scrambled for their weapons, but in all the confusion, Phoenix stepped on a rake a gardener had left behind, and got smacked in the face!"

The audience roars with laughter as Brock feigns the injury and the resulting dizziness."The others watched for the intruder as Lydia tended to the dazed Phoenix, but when nothing appeared, they blew the noise off as their imaginations and went back to bed." With that, he lies back down and pretends to sleep as the lights go down for a few seconds.

They slowly come up on Brock sleeping, as if mimicking a sunrise. "The next morning, Team Rainbow broke camp, and continued on their way." he continues as he gets up. "They arrived in the forest surrounding the Lake of Rage not long after noon, where they watched and waited for the Red Gyarados to appear." He glances off towards stage left, as if watching for the famed Pokemon himself. "As Team Rainbow approached the shore, a ripple in the water startled Phoenix."

As Phoenix again, he gasps "It's the Red Gyarados!"

As himself, he continues "Everyone froze--they couldn't run away, or the Red Gyarados would chase them, tear them limb from limb, and eat them! They waited in tense silence, until Lydia rallied them with an inspiring speech."

In character as a young woman, he proclaims "We can't stand here trembling like timid little Bunearies! We must be brave and engage the Red Gyarados on its own turf!"

As himself, he goes on. "Phoenix nodded in agreement, and silently prayed to Arceus to give them all strength. She then drew her sword..." Awed murmurs go up as Brock draws a sword of his own--a beautiful silver sword with ruby inlays in a flame pattern. "and charged towards the shoreline with a fierce cry!"

With that, he lets loose a war cry of his own as he charges towards stage right! "YAI-YAI-YAI-YAI-YO!!!!"

He comes to a screeching halt some seconds later. "But when Phoenix reached the shore, the lake was as peaceful as could be, with no Gyarados--much less a red Gyarados--in sight!"

Laughter fills the air as Brock sheathes his blade. "Phoenix concluded her war cry had scared the red Gyarados away. The others congratulated her on her bravery, and Lydia for inspiring her as they went off to have dinner in town."

He concludes "What Team Rainbow didn't know was what caused the ripple in the water--it turned out that Phoenix had only scared away a Piplup!"

The audience howls with laughter and applauds as Brock takes a bow...

Default Re: Live From the Fireside: Season 2 (Week 31: Komyona and the Thief)

    @Chimchar98; @Chaosj2; @Tophat Dragoneye; @Soulmaster;

Week 31: Komyona and the Thief

(real tale: Hodja and the Moonbeam)

"It is always said in a certain land that Komyona is a clever young lady." Brock begins as he looks out on the crowd. "But others think her a fool, and often talk about her behind her back."

Angry whispers fill the air at this. "But what they don't get is sometimes, people we think are foolish may be wiser than we think they are." The angry whispers give way to fascinated chatter as the audience wonders what this Komyona story will be about.

"Komyona knew that some people talked about her behind her back, but she didn't pay any heed to it--she could find something to smile about even in the worst of times." Brock explains. "Having said all of that, our story begins..."

The room goes silent as the audience reflects on what the master storyteller onstage has told them. Once Brock is settled in his usual place at center stage, he begins. "One day, a thief struck the city, and stole all manner of things from the people. The townsfolk were so worried about where the thief would next strike, it was all anyone in the city could talk about. Whether it was a fine tapestry, a pair of candles, or some other priceless heirloom, everyone had had something stolen, or knew someone that had. They all agreed the thief had to be caught--the question was, how to go about it?"

"Komyona was one of the lucky few that hadn't had anything stolen, but her husband Takumi was understandably concerned." he continues before switching to a younger man voice. "My love, I'm afraid that our house is not secure enough--what will we do if the thief comes here? How will we keep from being robbed as everyone else has?"

"Worry not, I have an idea..." he replies in character as a young lady.

As himself, he continues. "Takumi saw a sparkle in Komyona's eye--that usually meant Komyona had a plan. And when Komyona had a plan, it usually worked, no matter how far fetched or outlandish it seemed."

Piqued murmurs fill the air as the audience wonders what Komyona is planning. "But Takumi was still concerned, and told Komyona..." As Takumi again, he worries "Worry not? How can I not worry when a thief lurks in town?"

"Have pity for the poor thief." he replies as Komyona.

"Are you nuts?" he yells as Takumi. "How can I pity someone who cheats and steals?"

"You may not know this, but I was once a thief myself." he muses as Komyona.

As himself, he continues. "Komyona told Takumi many tales of her supposed thieving days, but none of it made any sense to Takumi. He decided to go see one of his closest friends that afternoon--we'll call him Masato. After swearing to Arceus he would not tell anyone, Masato listened as Takumi told him..." As Takumi, he explains "My beloved Komyona claims she was once a thief, and therefore owns many treasures."

"Really?" he gasps in a variant of his standard "young man" voice. "I don't recall Komyona having anything like treasure..."

"Oh, but her treasure is hidden--and you'd never believe how she got it." he explains as Takumi.

"How did she get it?" he asks as Masato.

"She sang a song to invoke a magic spell." he replies as Takumi.

"A spellsong? Did she tell you how it went?" he gasps as Masato.

Brock pauses to clear his throat, then sings in character as Takumi <i>Karuto, iichiida shou...</i>

"Well, what happened when she cast the spell?" he asks as Masato.

"A moonbeam appeared in the sky, and Komyona rode on it to the homes of her targets." he explains as Takumi.

The audience roars with applause at the interplay. "Of course, no sooner had Takumi left him, Masato went and told his wife, but had her swear to Arceus she would not tell anyone." Brock explains. "But she went out and told her friends, and they went out and told their friends, and so on. Before long, the whole city knew Komyona's spellsong, and the whole city told no one else." Laughter goes up at this.

"The next night, Masato and his family were jolted awake by a loud crash from downstairs." Brock continues. "When they came to the foyer, they found a young man with bag filled with all kinds of things--candles, carpets, clothing, fine china, jewelry, and many other things. They brought the thief to the city magistrate the next morning, where he was tried. The thief claimed he was innocent, and that he was only trying to ride a moonbeam."

More laughter fills the air. "The magistrate didn't believe the thief, and sentenced him to two years in prison on top of paying all the restitution." Brock concludes. "Yet everyone in the courtroom saw a twinkle in Komyona's eye--her story about being a thief was really a ruse, and a very clever ruse at that!"

The crowd roars with applause as Brock takes a bow...

Default Re: Live From the Fireside: Season 2 (Week 32: Sorin and the Garden)

    @Chimchar98; @Chaosj2; @Tophat Dragoneye; @Soulmaster;

Week 32: Sorin and the Garden

(real tale: Rabbit and Coyote in the Garden)

"Once a priest prepared a garden in the back yard of his house." Brock begins. "He wanted to provide fresh Berries, vegetables, and other food to his people. After he blessed the seeds he had planted, he departed to someplace quiet for his evening prayers.

A few days passed, and he found that the Micle berries were beginning to bloom. He anticipated the day when all his crops were ready for harvest, so he could share them with the less fortunate."

Once sure his audience has understood the setup of his tale, he continues "But one day, Sorin found the garden, and eagerly ate every last Micle blossom. So when the priest returned, he was dumbfounded as to why all his Micle Berries were missing. After concluding no one had stolen them, he figured he would ask Arceus that his Watmel Berries would be safe."

Giggles of anticipation fill the air. "Of course, Sorin found the Watmel Berries next, and ate them too." Brock continues as he walks around the stage. "No matter which crop the priest asked Arceus to protect, Sorin would find it. After the Watmel Berries, he pilfered the Punkins, ransacked the Rawst, and swiped Spelons, to name a few. The priest got so frustrated about his disappearing crops, he took some wax and shaped it into the form of a boy. Once the figure had hardened, he set it at the garden entrance, hoping his homemade scarecrow would lure out whoever or whatever was taking his crops."

"Now, everyone knows that Sorin is quite the trickster..." Brock intones to thunderous applause. "And try as he might to shock and slap the wax boy, his Thunderbolts had no effect, and he ended up stuck in the wax." More laughter goes up as Brock pantomimes struggling to get free. "When the priest found Sorin struggling in the wax, he tied him up around a tree, set a lock on the rope, and hid the key behind a bush." He proceeds to do this to a Pikachu puppet doll. The audience doesn't see Kano in the darkness, waiting for his cue to bring "Sorin" to life.

"Once sure Sorin was thoroughly secure, he went to prepare some hot water." Brock explains. "Mind you, he didn't want to hurt Sorin, so he figured that the pain of hot water would be enough to deter him from eating the plants. So as Sorin sat there awaiting the wave of heat, Mightyena happened to pass by. He saw Sorin tied around the tree and asked him..." In a deeper version of his own voice, he asks the puppet "What are you doing here in this garden?"

"Oh, Mightyena, I am so glad to see you!" Kano intones from his darkened nook as Sorin. "The priest wants to feed me a big lunch of meat, and as you know, I prefer to eat vegetables and fruits. I wish you would take my place."

"So why are you chained here?" Brock asks as Mightyena as Kano makes the puppet "struggle" to get free.

"He was afraid I would run away because I told him I did not want to eat meat, but the key is hidden right behind that bush." Kano replies as Sorin, making the puppet gesture to where the key is hidden. "If you unlock me, you can chain yourself here, and surely the priest will feed you all his meat instead!"

Brock discretely finds the key and undoes the lock and rope around the Pikachu puppet. "So Mightyena set Sorin free, and allowed himself to be locked to the tree in Sorin's place." he explains as the Pikachu puppet "runs" offstage. "When the priest returned, he concluded that Mightyena was the thief, and threw the hot water all over him!"

The auditorium explodes with laughter as the audience pictures Mightyena's reaction to the wave of hot water. "Needless to say, it took Mightyena several days to recover from the burns he incurred, and vowed he would have his revenge on Sorin for tricking him." Brock concludes. "But that is another story for another day!"

Applause fills the air as Kano emerges from his nook and joins Brock in taking a bow....

Default Re: Live From the Fireside: Season 2 (Week 33: Questions for Meloetta)

    @Chimchar98; @Chaosj2; @Tophat Dragoneye; @Soulmaster;

    Week 33: Questions for Meloetta

(real tale: "Folktales from Japan", episode 17, story 3)

"Once a certain miko, or priestess, traveled across the land seeking wisdom--we'll call her Rena." Brock begins. Some light applause goes up in approval of the miko's chosen name.

"In every place she stopped, she would ask people questions." Brock continues as he paces the center section of the stage. "Sometimes the questions were general knowledge, sometimes they were moral questions, and sometimes they were philosophical questions. No matter what sort of question Rena asked, sometimes she got great answers, and other times, the answers were not that great." Giggles go up and whispers of what some of the sillier answers were fill the air.

Brock's voice silences the chatter. "One day, Rena came to a small village, and saw that the temple had some wear and tear on its roof and its sides. She found it odd that someone would allow the temple to fall into disrepair, but went inside anyway."

The crowd's speculation turns to why the temple had wear to begin with. "Rena was shocked to find that the high priest was not in his robes, and had been dozing when she arrived." Brock notes.

Laughter goes up at this. "Although to be fair, the young priest--we'll call him Kimari--was a bit on the lazy side, and had only been the high priest for a short time, meaning he was not yet used to his duties." Brock explains to the crowd. "Kimari scrambled to his feet and told Rena..." As a young boy, he stammers "Forgive me, my lady, but the high priest is away right now. He will return in the morning."

As a young girl, he replies "Very well, I will return in the morning, after the morning prayers have been said."

Some "ooh"s go up as Brock continues, now as himself. "No sooner did Rena depart, did Kimari realize he had lied to a miko." Some children in the audience giggle at Brock's expression of feigned panic. "He fell to his knees..." He pauses to kneel on the stage floor before an imagined altar. "and pleaded to Arceus to forgive him for his lie, and to help him out of his predicament."

Giggles filled the air as Brock pantomimed praying for a moment. "Suddenly, Kimari was jolted from his prayers by a soothing song." As he gets up, he sings in gibberish <i>Anome, tafihi de so...</i>

Excited murmurs race through the crowd. "Kimari hurried outside, and was shocked to see the guardian of song, Meloetta, resting against a rock. She looked into Kimari's eyes and asked him... In his best mimic of Melody, he asks "You seem troubled...will you tell me what's the matter?"

As himself, he continues. "Kimari told Meloetta what had happened, and she replied..." As Melody again, he assures the audience "If you wish, I will answer the miko's questions in your place in return for a night's lodging."

"Kimari readily agreed to Meloetta's proposal, and made sure she had the best food and lodging he could find." Brock continues as himself. "Rena returned the next morning, and Kimari escorted her inside the main prayer hall, where Meloetta was waiting. Needless to say, Rena was very honored to be before the temple's patron Legendary, and immediately started asking Meloetta all sorts of questions. Kimari listened from outside--no matter what sort of question Rena asked, Meloetta would answer in her holy spellsong."

He paces the stage, singing gibberish phrases every so often. <i>Talida amia ili...</i> <i>Ruibe neta mode...</i> <i>Matam ista etare ichi...</i> <i>Eshuna, arerina do...</i>

When Brock returns to his place at center stage, he continues "After several hours, Rena emerged from the prayer hall with a smile on her face. Kimari then asked Rena just what it was Meloetta told her to make her so happy."

As Rena, he tells the audience "There is much wisdom in Meloetta's songs... when I asked how much does Arceus love the world, she told me that Arceus' love is as deep as the sea. When I asked what the five basic elements of the universe were, she replied earth, fire, wind, water, and spirit. When I asked Meloetta how you can see the entire world at once, she replied that you can see the world in a person's eyes."

He concludes as himself "Kimari was awed at Meloetta's answers, and vowed that he would take his priestly duties more seriously. Rena, meanwhile, continued on her journey, giving thanks to Arceus for allowing her to speak with Meloetta."

The crowd roars with applause as Brock takes a bow....

Default Re: Live From the Fireside: Season 2 (Week 34: The Gold Berries)

    @Chimchar98; @Chaosj2; @Tophat Dragoneye; @Soulmaster;

    Week 34: The Gold Berries

    (real tale: Gourds of Gold

"Once a man--we'll call him Kosei--was coming home from the market when thieves ambushed him and stole the food and Pokemon he had just bought." Brock begins, making gasps fill the air. "Although he was quite battered, Kosei didn't despair--he knew that Arceus would give the thieves their just desserts."

Piqued murmurs race through the auditorium. "When Kosei got home, he learned that many of the townsfolk had been robbed in that place." Brock explains as he paces the center of the stage. "The trees and brush grew large and thick, making it the perfect spot for a thief to hide."

"But Kosei declared that he had a plan to catch the thieves." he quickly notes.

Nincadas chirp as the audience silently wonders just what Kosei is plotting. "The other townsfolk, however, were concerned--these thieves were strong and too fast for anyone to catch. But Kosei was quick to point out that they were greedy too--and that was how he would catch them." Brock assures the audience.

He then proceeds to lay out Kosei's plan. "First, Kosei bought two Deerlings and took them home. Then, he returned to the place where he had been robbed, where an Aspear tree stood. He then hollowed out two of the biggest Berries on the tree and filled them full of coins. When Kosei's wife--we'll call her Saiban--heard about her husband's plan, she wanted to help out as well. They sacrificed one of their Tauros to Arceus for good luck, and Kosei concealed a skin filled with Tauros blood inside Saiban's clothing."

The audience wonders just what Kosei is plotting. "Kosei then asked his friends to prepare a cot by the Aspear tree." Brock continues as the lights come up on a cot by stage right. "While his friends thought Kosei was nuts at first, they prepared the cot anyway, figuring it was a part of Kosei's plan."

Brock then sprawls out on the cot himself. "Kosei laid on the cot and pretended to doze. Sure enough, the thieves returned, and asked him what he was doing in the road.

In character as an older man, he intones "I'm guarding our Aspear trees." as he gets up from the cot.

As himself, he continues "The thieves laughed at this--why would you need to guard a Berry tree? But Kosei gave the thieves the coin filled Berries, and no sooner had they cut them open, did coins spill everywhere!"

The audience laughs at how the thieves must have reacted. "The thieves offered Kosei gold and jewels in return for what they thought was a magic tree. It was only when they offered the items that they had stolen earlier that Kosei finally relented."

Giggles fill the air. "It didn't take long for the thieves to find out they'd been had--they hurried to catch up with Kosei and demanded the food and Pokemon back." Brock continues. "Kosei agreed, but as it was almost dinner time, he invited the thieves to join him for dinner. He then told the Deerling at his side to tell Saiban that they had guests. When he turned the Deerling loose, it ran straight into the woods."

More laughter goes up at this. "Kosei led the thieves to his house, where Saiban and the other Deerling were waiting." Brock continues. "But before they could say anything about the seemingly magical Deerling, Kosei took a knife and stabbed at the spot where the skin of Tauros blood was, making Saiban appear to die as the thieves watched in horror."

Panicked whispers race through the auditorium. "But then, Kosei took a stick..." Brock pauses to pick up a stick of his own. "and waved it over Saiban's 'dead' body as he appeared to cast a spell." He proceeds to wave the stick over the imagined body as he sings <i>Rou iitsa ron selga vichii...</i>

Sighs of relief fill the air as Brock continues "The thieves were stunned when Saiban seemingly came back to life, and immediately offered a thousand gold pieces for the Deerling and the stick."

He concludes "The thieves didn't know that Kosei had asked some of the royal guard to capture the thieves, and no sooner had the thieves started down the road with the stick and the Deerling, were they promptly arrested. Kosei and Saiban were hailed as heroes, and no one in that region was bothered by thieves for some time!"

The audience roars as Brock takes a bow...

Interlude 9: The Birth of Mistress Fever

"Lotta?" Brock asked as he arrived in the common room backstage. "You wished to see me?"

"Remember when we debuted the melodrama sketch a few weeks ago, and Rylan mentioned we should do a superhero sketch next?" Lotta asked before showing Brock the picture of a brown haired girl in a red and white spandex suit. A gold eight point star is prominently displayed on the chest, gloves, and boots of the costume.

"I presume that is your heroine?" Brock asks.

Just then, Rylan walks in the room and sees the drawing. "Cool heroine, Lotta! What's her name?"

"I named her Mistress Fever, and she has fire and light based powers, bestowed on her by Moltres as thanks for saving her from this guy..." Lotta then turns the page in her sketchbook to display a boy in a teal, black and white suit, with a black and teal cape billowing behind him. "Raven di Wynter, a genius tinker with a heart as cold as the ice he commands."

"Ooh, love the cape..." Rylan muses as he pictures Brock in the costume.

"Yeah--I could use another bad guy in my stable of characters." Brock agrees.

"By day, Mistress Fever is Elena Tyson, a mild mannered student." Lotta continues, showing the boys a third picture of a girl that somewhat resembles her. "But when someone's in trouble, she calls on the power in her ring to become Mistress Fever. Thing is, I'm having trouble brainstorming a story for her that would make a good sketch."

"Wait there, I'll go get the others." Brock assures Lotta before dashing from the room.

We join Brock, Lotta, Akane, Yuki, Rylan, Kano, and few other members of the Players as they gather around a table. "Okay..." Brock begins. "What we're going to do is collectively brainstorm a story for Lotta's superheroine, Mistress Fever. Since she is the creator, she will have the final say in all the input. Plus, she is welcome to contribute ideas herself."

"To ensure that everyone gets at least one turn contributing to the story, we'll go around the table and have each person speak for a few minutes--although if you have a really good idea that can't wait for your turn, raise your hand." Lotta explains.

Brock sets a timer for ten minutes. "Ten minutes long enough?" Affirmative murmurs waft in his direction.

"Since Rylan is on the left end, he will go first." Lotta tells the group as she gets out some paper and pen from her bag.

"Your ten minutes starts now." Brock tells Rylan as he hits the START button on the timer.

"Okay, It's a beautiful day at Pewter University, and Elena and her friends are making plans for the afternoon." Rylan begins. "Suddenly, as one of Elena's friends mentions going swimming a voice says...however you say 'ice ball" in Italian..."

    <i>Palla di ghiaccio.</i> Brock interjects.

"...and this huge ice ball comes crashing out of nowhere!" Rylan continues. As Elena and her friends wonder how it could possibly snow in the spring, they hear the voice again, and another ice ball appears. Before long, it's all over the news. The answer is one Raven di Wynter, conjuring ice balls."

"Okay, so Raven wants to turn the world into ice?" Lotta asks.

"And turn Pewter City into snowmen, snowwomen, and snow-Pokemon." Rylan continues. "He then casts a spell called...however you say 'cold lance' in Italian...

    <i>Lancia a freddo.</i> Brock translates.

"and turns an unsuspecting Pikachu into a snow-Pikachu." Rylan continues. "Meanwhile, in the university newspaper offices, Elena's boyfriend Zane gets word of the snow appearing in the spring, but Elena has her suspicions, and transforms into Mistress Fever to follow him. What she doesn't know is Raven di Wynter is out terrorizing the city with his icy powers--he even boasts that not even Mistress Fever can counter his spells!"

Just then, the timer goes off. "My turn." Akane muses as Brock rests the timer. "You have a thrilling story so far, Rylan."

"Ten minutes begins now." Brock announces before hitting the timer's START button again.

"Try as Officer Jenny and her forces might to subdue Raven, he manages to freeze them all and escape." Akane begins. "The people's cries reach Mistress Fever, and so she presumes Zane to be safe and goes to investigate the chaos."

"Mm-hm, and then?" Lotta urges Akane to continue as she writes down the story.

"A woman of the town tells Mistress Fever what happened, but no one has any idea where Raven di Wynter went." Akane continues. "Mistress Fever concludes that the springtime snow and the various snow beings dotting town are connected. She decides to search in every direction for any clues. However, Raven has retreated to his secret lair, where he begins devising a trap to keep Mistress Fever from thwarting his plot to freeze Pewter City solid."

"Any ideas what that trap may be?" Kano asks.

"I'm still planning that..." Akane confesses before continuing. "Meanwhile, Zane arrives where the first snowman was spotted..."

The timer goes off before Akane continues. "Very well, how do you suggest this tale continues?" she asks Brock.

After giving himself ten minutes, Brock picks up where Akane left off. "...and ends up walking right smack into Raven di Wynter's secret lair!"

Excited whispers fill the air. "Just then, Zane hears Raven returning, and decides to hide in a closet." Brock continues. "He overhears Raven's whole plot--first he'll freeze Pewter City, and then turn the whole world into a winter wonderland!"

"This is getting good--and then?" Lotta asks as she finishes writing down Brock's suggestion.

"The thought of Pewter City becoming a huge Popsicle makes Zane yelp in fear, which tips Raven off to his presence." Brock continues. "After a chase through the house, Raven corners Zane and threatens to freeze him for overhearing his plans. Then, one of Raven's lackeys suggests that rather than freezing Zane right then, he put Zane on TV and force him to ask the city to acknowledge Raven as the new mayor, or get frozen."

He is about to say more when the timer's ding interrupts him. "and I will let Yuki continue our exciting adventure." Brock muses as he resets the timer.

"However, Mistress Fever gets to the secret lair seconds after Raven leads Zane off to the TV station. "With the threat of being frozen himself looming over him, Zane tells the city on live TV that they must acknowledge Raven di Wynter as the new mayor, or else be frozen."

Everyone gasps. "But then, Zane deviates from the script--by singing the song "Fever", which is the city's secret code to call Mistress Fever--not even Raven knows its true meaning." Yuki continues.

"I like the song-as-a-code idea." Kano comments.

    "That's pretty clever." Rylan agrees.

"Mistress Fever hears the song and arrives, where she explains that Zane only said what he said because he was forced to, not of his own free will." Yuki continues. "She then assures the city on live TV that she will defeat Raven di Wynter. With that, she unleashes her signature attack....how do you say "fire star" in Italian?"

    <i>Fuoco stelle.</i> Lotta replies.

"But all the fire stars miss the top of the TV station, so Mistress Fever decides to try attacking from above." Yuki continues. "Fire star and cold lance clash, but in the end, Mistress Fever is frozen too!"

Everyone gasps as Yuki's time expires. "Okay, Kano--we've set everything up for you...now it's your turn to tell us the exciting conclusion." Brock begins as he resets the timer.

Kano waits for Brock to start the timer, then begins. "The people frantically try everything to defrost Mistress Fever, but nothing seems to work. Just when all hope is lost, Mistress Fever defrosts on her own, thanks to her innate fire powers. Try as Raven might to freeze her again, Mistress Fever darts out of the way and attacks him! Raven gets dizzy from trying to keep up with Mistress Fever, and she finishes him off with...whatever 'radiant fever' is in Italian..."

    <i>Febbre radiante</i> Lotta replies.

Kano concludes "Mistress Fever defrosts all the frozen people at once with her special healing incantation, which translates to 'Fire, gleam and glow, free the people from the snow.'"

<i>Fuoco, barlume e bagliore ... liberare il popolo dalla neve.</i> Lotta translates.

"Of course, the second part changes depending on the situation." Kano explains. "But the happiest one of all is Zane, and the city is saved, for now."

"At least until the next episode." Brock smiles as Kano's time expires.

Lotta reads over her notes. "You all did great coming up with this! I can't wait to do it onstage!"

I recently started reading Watership Down at the college library, and, when I got to chapter 15 (I believe) which was titled "The King's Lettuce", as I was reading the story that they were telling to the rabbits I realized "This sounds like something Brock would tell! I can just imagine Soren in the role of El-arairah."

If you think that would work, send me the bones of the story and I'll see what I can do to Pokemonize it--if it has opportunities for Brock to act, sing, or play music, even better.

Sidestory 5: Freeze Flame (part 1)

"Ready for your debut as Mistress Fever?" Brock asks as Yuki ties on a blue and teal cape to complete his Raven di Wynter costume.

"Ready as always." Lotta replies. "Although you're only temporarily my sworn nemesis today."

"Yeah--you know I would never intentionally hurt anyone." Brock assures Lotta and the whining pink humanoid Pokemon at his feet. "I'm only pretending to be a bad guy, okay?"

"I will take care of Happini while you perform." Akane offers as she takes Happini into another room.

"And I will start the show." Kano muses before running out to meet the crowd over a triumphant stinger. "Picture this...it is a beautiful day on the campus of Pewter University, and today's classes have ended for mild mannered student Elena Tyson..."

The lights come up on Lotta and a few other members of the Fireside Players on a set of a school campus. "I can't believe finals are coming up..." a boy comments.

"Especially since we got that long paper turned in today..." Lotta agrees.

"Say...since it's warm outside and the swim team isn't practicing, why don't we go swimming in one of the campus pools?" a girl suggests.

"Yeah!" Lotta and the others cheer.

They are about to walk offstage when Brock calls from offstage <i>Palla di ghiaccio!</i> making a large white ball fall to the stage with a crash, startling the audience.

"Snow? In May?" the boy asks as he feels around the prop ice ball.

"It's not melting either...that's impossible!" the girl agrees.

"If it's impossible, then how come we saw one land just now?" Lotta asks.

Brock then calls <i>Palla di ghiaccio!</i> again from offstage, making a slightly larger "ice ball" land at center stage.

The lights come up on Kano by stage right. "Snow, in the middle of spring? The whole city speculated how it could be done, but the answer lay in the secret laboratory of cold hearted genius Raven di Wynter!"

Boos fill the air as devious laughter wafts through the dark auditorium. The lights come up on the set of a laboratory, where Brock--in character as Raven di Wynter--is giddily laughing as he looks out a window. "It's working--my ice magic has sent the city into a panic!"

"But what good will filling the city with snowballs do?" a boy playing a lackey asks.

"Oh, but that's not the only icy spell I have at my disposal!" Brock explains as a Pikachu puppet operated by Yuki "runs" in the scene. "Consider this little Pikachu here..." With that, he triggers some lights wired to his hands, making them appear to glow blue. <i>Lancia a freddo!</i>

The Pikachu puppet tries to "run" away, but is soon engulfed in blue light. When the light fades, a Pikachu made out of "snow" is in its place. "Amazing! It's a snow-Pikachu!" the lackey gasps.

"That snow-Pikachu is only the beginning..." Brock intones over some omnious music. "In time, I will transform the whole city into a winter wonderland filled with snowmen, snowwomen, and snow-Pokemon! The whole world will bow to me, or turn to ice!" He laughs again as the lights go down.

"Meanwhile, in the offices of the Daily Diamond, student reporter Zane receives word of the mysterious snow affecting the city..." Kano narrates as the lights come up on Rylan in an office, on a prop cell phone. "Good afternoon, this is Zane..." he begins. "What? A snowman? In May? I'll be right over!" He ends the "call". "I hope they're not fooling me--if it's true, it would be a cool story, no pun intended."

He is about to depart when Lotta walks in the scene with a prop food bag. "Hi Zane--if you have a moment to spare. I brought you lunch."

"I appreciate the thought, Elena, but I have to go cover this story--there's been reports of snowmen popping up all over town." Rylan explains before hugging Lotta. 'We can have lunch tomorrow.'

Lotta thinks hard as Rylan departs. "First the ice balls on the campus square, and now snowmen are popping up all over town...Zane could be in danger!" With that, she holds a hand in the air and calls <i>Potere di rubino!</i>

The audience cheers as Lotta appears to "transform" into Mistress Fever on a screen. When the lights come up again, she is actually in the costume. "I will follow Zane from the air in hopes of finding a clue as to why snow is appearing in springtime." she announces before disappearing in a flash of red light.

"While Mistress Fever was searching for clues, Raven di Wynter was out terrorizing the city with his cold magic." Kano narrates.

<i>Lancia a freddo!</i> Brock commands from the darkness, making a blue light flash. <i>Lancia a freddo! Lancia a freddo! Lancia a freddo!</i> Every time Brock casts the "spell", a blue light flashes on the dark stage.

"Raven, please stop!" a girl portraying Officer Jenny pleads as the lights come up on a city street dotted with "snowpeople" and "snow-Pokemon." "Name your demands--we'll do anything if you will stop freezing our city!"

"My demands are simple--bow before me as your leader, or else become snowmen, snowwomen, and snow-Pokemon!" He then charges some more blue light. "Since you dared to resist me, I have a special spell for you..." He then calls <i>Freddo artico!</i> engulfing the girl in light, leaving a "snowwoman" behind.

"You'll have to answer to Mistress Fever!" a boy threatens.

"Not even her fiery power can withstand my magic!" Brock retorts before charging more blue light. <i>Lancia a freddo!</i>

The audience gasps as the boy becomes a "snowman". "Will Raven di Wynter succeed in freezing the entire city?" Kano asks over a tense stinger. "Will even Mistress Fever's flaming stars be no match against Raven's arsenal of frosty magic? Don't miss part 2 of our exciting adventure, "Freeze Flame"!

*applauds* Good job! Sounds like an anime episode practically!

As for the "The Story of The King's Lettuce"... can Brock act in it? Yes. Sing? Uhh... this is a rabbit folk tale, and they don't naturally sing (Cowslip's Warren/ The Warren of The Wire doesn't count. The bunnies there aren't... normal.) Dance? I'm not sure.

As Chimchar98 mentioned above, it sounds very much like an anime. And I liked it :)

And speaking of materials for Pokémonized tales, remember what I suggested to you some time ago? You think we can see a Pokémonized version of it in the near future? Just asking out of curiosity.
