Your avatar MUST be square for it to work. For example, a size like 10x10, 50x50 or 120x120. If it's not square, the animation won't work.

Okay. But how do you get the moving image? Just copy and paste? Where would I get the moving sprite?

A "moving image" is normally a .gif file. Those are simply images which consist of various frames that change according to a set speed. You turn frames into .gifs using a variety of programs like Microsoft GIF Animator free.

However, if what you want are simply the Pokémon .gif sprites, I would suggest consulting Bulbapedia or, in the case of B/W ones, Arkeis has the complete list of front animated sprites, and some back ones.

Not true, just testing with 120x24 GIF image and it works fine.

But it must be within one's current size limits (for normal users, it's 120x120). If the vB resizer needs to touch it, it will break.

Ah, thanks for the catch. I'm almost sure there was a time only square avatars would work, glad to see that fixed.
