The Benmeister: You toss the red and white metallic orb at the opposing ground type, the ball bouncing off the Sandshrew's tough hide as it opens, transforming the small Pokemon into translucent red energy, which is sucked into the ball. The ball lands on the desert sand, wobbling a few times before the red capture button fades away with a gentle ping, signalling your capture of a Lv. 5 Male Sandshrew. Have a good time in zones. :O

Ihfrett: You're free to explore the other zones as of now. There's no real need for any further replies or updates as there aren't any captures involved so yeah. Good luck. :O

You give your orders to Steelix who roars in acknowledgement as it begins to carry out its attacks. It swings its huge tail, attempting to strike the Spheal into the snow. However, one of the Spheal fires a Water Gun at the ground beneath it, propelling it upwards and dodging the incoming strike from Steelix's tail, while the other Spheal is struck hard, being sent flying into a snow bank. Steelix glares at the Spheal that dodged its previous strike, diving headfirst at the ground before it, jetting loose a few small rocks which fly toward the Spheal, striking it with a moderate amount of force. However, the other Spheal, while looking somewhat shaken, recovers from the previous blow, and sends a glowing beam of ice energy across the field, the Aurora Beam striking Steelix hard in the midsection.

Ready to put these Spheal to rest only after a few moments of battle, Steelix smacks the side of the mountain with a tail glowing a bright white. A few seconds pass before you feel the earth beneath you beginning to shake with intensity, hearing a large roaring sound above you. You see that a huge tidal wave of sorts of snow and ice is crashing down the side of the mountain, destroying everything in its path. Avalanche!

A quick note, if you'd like to advance a bit quicker, try to space your thoughts a bit better. Your reply was pretty much a paragraph with 2 or 3 different trains of thought involved, while each could have been expanded upon and organized better in a paragraph form. k?

Alto feels the shaking of the Earth beneath his feet and looks up to find mountains of snow and ice crashing down to him. With a very panicked tone in his voice, he commands, "Steelix, we have to stop the avalanche. I want you to use your tail to stop the force. swing as hard as you can."

Alto suddenly rembers the spheals. To himself, Alto thinks "I have to save them somehow. I can't just leave them here to die!" Then Alto remembers he has a Fire type. Taking out a shiny crimson and white orb out of his belt, he then cries, "Charmeleon, we need your help. While Steelix is trying to block the most of it, use a fully charged shadow ball to help it. If there is more, burn through it with a concentrated Ember. Repeat ember if you have to. "

After issueing the commands, Alto decides on how to save the Spheals. As he advances to the frightened sea lions, he goes over in his mind, "Just stay calm Alto, everything will be alright."

ALTO: You're free to go into the regular zones. I'd like to keep you here a bit more but I don't really have that sort of time. Btw, you might want to keep your replies in the realm of possibility - your last reply really wasn't feasible.

The journey had been a long one. Still, for as far as the young man had come, Stark knew that this was only the beginning. Strange how similar the farmlands look like those back home, he thought as he stopped for a moment to gaze upon the small city in the distance.

"See that, buddy?" he asked the small Cyndaquil lying on his shoulder, "That's where we're going. Mediville." Instinctively Stark raised his right hand up across his body and began to rub the area behind his tiny partner's neck. Cyndaquil's eyes closed tight as he started to coo in delight. A smirk crossed Stark's face as he felt the warmth and love of his partner wash across him.

"Just think. We'll finally get to sleep in a real bed again... Hopefully," he added.

"Cynda," the little pokemon replied while nuzzling into Stark's neck.

"Yeah, you're right. As long as we're together it really doesn't matter where we end up," Stark responded until finally he felt that had been given enough affection from his friend and moved his hand over to get Cyndaquil to stop with the attention, "Okay, okay. Enough. I love you too pal. Hey! Don't make me put you back in your ball.... Just kidding bud. I wouldn't do that to you. Besides, you know I'd get bored without you here. <sigh> I suppose we should get going. I mean standing here isn't going to get us anywhere in the near future is it? Not to mention we have a whole world of adventure left ahead of us."

With that Stark and Cyndaquil continued their trek towards Mediville.

Stark: You and Cyndaquil continue your walk to Mediville, wondering what sights you’ll see there. Theres a gentle breeze and it takes the edge off the heat of the sun. Suddenly, you see something pink floating ahead of you in the distance. You ponder to yourself what it might be; a balloon perhaps? You shrug it off, thinking nothing of it until you hear a cry of distress. You look to your left and a little girl, dressed in dungarees and a straw hat is chasing after the floating object shouting “Hoppy! Hoppy! Come back you silly Hoppip!!” to which a reply of “Piiiiiiiiippppp…” is heard. Seems the Hoppip is caught in the breeze. To make things worse, a Spearow sweeps past you at speed, heading right for the Hoppip, ready to strike it from the air with a Peck attack. What will you do?

Stark dug his feet in as the sudden flyby of the spearow nearly knocked him off balance. His coat and hair sweeping out in front of him. Had he the time to think about it, he would have pondered how such a small bird could have had such a strong draft. However, he didn't have time to think about it. Spearow's were notoriously territorial and were well known for attacking those who ventured too close to their homes.

Stark's eyes narrowed into a steely resolve as he saw the poor young girl chasing after her helpless Hoppip. Without a second thought Stark took off in a sprint behind the Spearow toward Hoppip. He winced as the tiny claws of Cyndaqul dug into his shoulder for stability.

"We're not going to make it," he huffed as he gritted his teeth and tried to push himself to run faster. If only he had bothered to train Cyndaquil when he was younger. A Quick Attack or ranged attack would have been handy at a time like this. That's when an idea hit him.

Stark looked to the ground ahead of him hoping to find a rock or stick or even a clump of dirt which he could grab and throw at the Spearow to distract it enough to foil it's attack on Hoppip. At best he might get extremely lucky and hit the Spearow, at worst the Spearow would completely ignore him and continue it's attack on Hoppip while Stark wasted valuable seconds on a shot in the dark. Still, he had to do something. He realized that neither he nor Cyndaquil would be able to catch up to the avian pokemon. Not at the rate they were moving. The plan may have had a one in a million chance of succeeding, but at least it was a chance. And even a one in a million chance was worth taking if it meant helping someone in need.

Stark: Assessing the situation in front of you, you decide not to let Cyndaquil attack and you look to the ground for something to throw at the territorial Spearow. Your eyes are drawn to a sharp rock. Picking it up, you throw it overarm in the Spearow’s direction as it swept towards Hoppip. Luck is on your side as it hit’s the Spearow’s wing and knocks it off balance. A loud caw signifys the Spearow’s annoyance and it immediately flies straight upwards and turns, glaring right at you. The girl who was in pursuit of Hoppip had managed to catch the little Pokémon and then ran towards you shouting “Watch out lad!! Spearow round these parts are frisky buggers!! They attack anyone who gets on their bad side!” Spearow then caws loudly before flying towards you at speed, catching you off guard and knocking Cyndaquil off your shoulder. Your little Fire Mouse falls on his back and cries out as Spearow homes in for a Fury Attack. The girl has almost reached where you are. What will you do?

"CYNDAQUIL!!!" Stark shouted in concern as his little partner was knocked off his shoulder. Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed that the girl had caught her Hoppip. That was a relief. One less thing to worry about he figured. Things were moving too fast. He wished he could slow things down to have time to think, but it wasn't going to happen. Instead he decided to let go of his inhibitions and let instinct take over. Standing up tall, he twisted his body back to where Cyndaquil lay. A stern look of calm determination upon his face.

"Cynadaquil, are you alright?" he said rhetorically more than asked.

"Cynda..." the timid little pokemon responded fearfully as it rolled over to it's feet, shaking it's head to clear the cobwebs and get it's bearings.

"I know we haven't really been in a battle before and I know your scared, but you need to be brave. I need you bud. This little girl and her Hoppip need you. We can do this. You and I. Because together I know we can overcome any obstacle!" Stark said with resolve.

"Cyndaquil!" the tiny pokemon shouted with newfound confidence as it stood up on it's hind legs and put on it's battle face.

"We'll take him head on," Stark explained as he began laying out his plan, "I'll give you a boost and I want you to use a Tackle attack on that Spearow mid-air. It's looking to fight so once you hit the ground I want you to Leer at it and see if you can't get it to loose a little confidence, then Tackle it once again."

Cyndaquil once again dropped to all fours and prepared to go once Stark gave the signal.

Stark nodded back to his partner to show he was ready before growling, "Let's do it."

Cyndaquil took off in a sprint toward Stark who dropped his left arm down for Cyndaquil to climb up and over to his right arm which was in a throwing motion to launch Cyndaquil into the air with a little extra speed at the oncoming Spearow.

As Cyndaquil was on his way toward his confrontation with Spearow, Stark turned to the little girl calmly and quietly remarking, "Stay close. And stay behind me."

Thanks for a lengthy, detailed reply, it’s great to see ^-^

Stark: Turning your body to see how Cyndaquil was, you decide to let your battling instinct take over. Encouraging your little Fire Mouse, Cyndaquil gets himself up and shakes himself off, the dust and cobwebs falling from his body. Cyndaquil listened to your motivational words and he got into a battle pose of sorts, getting up on to his hind legs and listening to your commands.

Spearow was looming closer and Cyndaquil set off to run, he leapt up onto your arm and ran up your right arm, he ducked his head ready to tackle as you flung him into the air, directly on course to the Spearow. Cyndaquil slammed into Spearow with the elevated Tackle attack and knocked it back, but Cyndaquil also received slight damage due to hitting Spearow’s beak. Cyndaquil landed on the ground, stumbling a bit before he regained his balance. As for the Spearow, it was still in mid-air shaking it’s head, seems Cyndaquil gave it quite a headache. It then cawed loudly, looking down at Cyndaquil before flying towards him in blind rage. Determined to prove himself, Cyndaquil’s eyes began to glow blue as he stared the Spearow down. Spearow stopped dead in its tracks, the Leer attack freezing it in place about 2 feet from the ground.

Cyndaquil then took the opportunity for another attack, running up to the Spearow and tackling it in the body whilst it was frozen, this gave some good damage but the impact caused Spearow to become mobile again. Spearow then immediately pecked Cyndaquil on the back, causing him to cry out slightly. Spearow seems angrier now, who knows what it’ll do next? The young girl finally reaches you and you ask her to stand behind you, and she does before whispering “Thank you”, so as to not distract you from the battle. What will you do next?

You're welcome. It was my pleasure.

Stark shifted his head slightly to the side in order to let the young girl see him give her a reassuring wink and nod accompanied by a warm half smile in acknowledgment of her thanks. As much as he would have loved to have talked to her, now was not the time.

He turned his attention back to Cyndaquil's plight only to furrow his brow as Spearow pecked at his partner's back. The thought of how little training he had done with Cyndaquil and all of the time lost by not training, returned to the forefront of his mind. If only he had trained Cyndaquil years ago like he could have, maybe the flames on his back would have been ignited giving that Spearow second thoughts about sticking its beak there. As it was they were just going to have to chalk it up to missed opportunities and move on as best they could with what they had. Still, it sure would have been convenient.

"Cydaquil!" he shouted to the little fire type pokemon, "You're doing great! Just hang in there a little longer. I want you to try to put some distance between you and Spearow. Just enough so that it can't get you with it's beak. Then I want you to Leer at it again so that it doesn't leave the ground and then follow up with another Tackle."

Stark's hands started to clench into fists as as his focus and determination became stronger with each passing moment. He knew that if Spearow became air-born again that they would lose the little bit of advantage they had managed to gain. -Come on Cyndaquil. I know you can do this,- he thought.

    Default Update #4

    Mediville (Please reply in LemonChiffon)

Stark: Watching the Spearow peck your partner’s back almost hurts you, but you continue to encourage Cyndaquil. The little fire mouse listens to your orders before he closes his eyes tightly and takes a leap to the side, just as Spearow was coming back down with it’s beak, causing it’s beak to hit the dirt and get stuck.

Amazed by this turn of events, Cyndaquil stares down Spearow with a Leer, his confidence now feeding his strength. Spearow struggles but when it looks up it meets Cyndaquil’s gaze, freezing it in place. Cyndaquil then takes off running, smacking the Spearow for a good Tackle attack, again causing some good damage. Spearow is knocked onto it’s side before it is able to move again and it gets up, panting but very frustrated that it keeps getting pummelled.

You watch as Spearow spreads it’s wings wide and takes off into the air above you. Coming to a stop, it keeps its wings spread wide as the small bird's eyes begin to glow yellow and waves of energy snake from it’s body. Spearow caws loudly and it echo’s, sending a shiver down your spine. Having charged it’s Sky Attack, Spearow begins a fast descent towards Cyndaquil, energy sparks flying from it’s body in all directions. The girl with you screams and hides behind you, terrified of the sight infront of her. What will you do?

"No," the word softly escaped Stark's lips as this unexpected turn of events unfolded. In a perfect world Spearow would not have been able to get air-born again and they would have been able to keep their advantage. Then again, this wasn't a perfect world. And sometimes, one has to adapt to the unexpected changes and difficulties life throws at you. Otherwise you're bound to never succeed. Not that any of those thoughts were of much comfort for Stark at the moment.

The Spearow was fatigued. That much was obvious, but still it continued to fight rather than turn and flee, giving everything it had into one powerful attack. Stark had to admire the bird pokemon's resolve. Still that left himself, the girl, and Cyndaquil in a precarious position. One that he had hoped to have avoided.

Cyndaquil stood upright watching as Spearow gathered it's energy while waiting for his partner's new strategy. A shiver coursed down the fire pokemon's back. Fear? Excitement? Probably a little of both causing the effect. His eyes opened wide as he lowered himself back down to all fours in order to take full advantage of his speed and agility.

Stark's right hand instinctively reached down to the one LevelBall hanging from his belt. Maybe, just maybe he would get lucky enough to hit the Spearow with it and once again throw it off from it's attack. His hand soon pulled away from the LevelBall. It was too great of a risk. He had gotten lucky once. He wasn't about to take that chance again. Not at the expense of Cyndaquil possibly being hurt and not with the girl's safety at stake. Besides, he really didn't want to waste his only PokeBall that recklessly. Regardless he needed to think of something quick. It wouldn't take Spearow long to gather enough energy for it's attack.

"Cyndaquil!" he shouted, deciding to stay the course with his partner, "This is it. Spearow is going to be coming. I want you to Leer at it when it gets about two-thirds of the way down to the ground. Then doge out of the way in case your Leer fails or it just keeps falling. Finally, I want you to Tackle it once more when it gets low enough that you can get it. Just stay strong pal. I know you can do this."

Cyndaquil's eyes widened as it waited for Spearow to make it's move. Suddenly, the flyer cawed loudly. It's voice echoing while sending a shiver down Stark's spine. Within moments the flying pokemon began it's descent, while the girl behind Stark let out a scream of her own. Instinctively he reached his right hand behind him and offered it to the girl in an effort to comfort her and possibly to comfort himself as well. He prepared himself to turn and shield the girl with his body from Spearow in case it decided to attack them rather than Cyndaquil.

"Take my hand," he said softly to the girl as his eyes stared intensely at the events ahead of him, "I won't let anything happen to you. I promise. Just keep Hoppip safe, okay?"

    Mediville (Please reply in LemonChiffon)

Stark: The girl looks at your hand and then looks at her Hoppip, the small grass type squeaks “Pip!” and the girl takes ahold of your hand, and then Hoppip wraps one of the leaves on it’s head around your wrist. You then mull over your options and analyze the battle, issuing Cyndaquil some more attacks, who drops onto all fours, ready to attack.

Spearow is already halfway to reaching you, and the yellow aura surrounding it’s body seems to be growing and the amount of energy coursing through it’s small body is becoming even more intense. You then realise something; the Spearow is concentrating all of it’s energy into one last attack, and that it’s a persistent bugger. Cyndaquil looks directly up at Spearow, but has to squint slightly due to the bright lights coming from the bird. Unfortunately the bird’s eyes are closed, Spearow somehow knowing that Cyndaquil was going to use Leer. So, Spearow continues it’s descent, but now it reaches a faster speed and Cyndaquil takes a deep breath, knowing he needs to jump to action now.

You feel the girl’s grip on your hand tighten as Spearow comes closer, and Cyndaquil crouches low before taking a leap to the left as Spearow becomes closer. Suddenly, Spearow follows Cyndaquil and caws loudly to try and scare him. Cyndaquil then launches himself underneath Spearow and turns quickly, head lowered and Tackles Spearow right in the tail feathers, causing it to fall forwards onto the dirt. Cyndaquil was hit by recoil damage due to the energy being emitted by Spearow but it was worth it as the bird is now weakened, unable to get up. You have a look and the bird looks at you one last time and opens it’s beak. It tries to caw but is unable to as it faints. *Level up for Cyndaquil!* The girl smiles at you, “Thank you .. For a second there I thought Spearow had us beat!” Hoppip then jumps up and down excitedly, almost being taken by the wind once more. You may now attempt a capture if would so wish. What will you do?

Stark released a deep breath of air, relieved that the battle was over. A smile soon crossed his face as he looked back at the girl and smiled saying, "You're welcome, kiddo. Just so you know, my name is Stark."

Cyndaquil soon rushed back to Stark who bent down to take his partner in his arms and embrace him tightly. "Great job, Cyndaquil," he said, "You were awesome." Cyndaquil soon crawled up onto Stark's shoulder only to lay himself down.

Reaching down to his waist once more he grabbed hold of the LevelBall sitting there and pulled it out expanding the small piece of technology in his hand. The thought of saving the ball for another time crossed his mind, but this Spearow had proven himself to be a formidable pokemon. It would make an outstanding addition to the team.

"LevelBall go!" Stark shouted as he tossed the special PokeBall at Spearow in an attempt to capture the flyer. Once more his muscles tensed and his eyes narrowed as the anticipation and excitement of the moment filled him.

Stark: Deciding to capture the Spearow, you throw your Level Ball towards the downed bird. It bounces off Spearow’s back and sucks the Pokémon inside, dropping to the ground and then it began to wobble to and fro. You watch anxiously as the bird nearly breaks free, but is too weak to resist the ball and a ‘clink’ signifys a successful capture. ** Congratulations, you’ve captured a Level 5 (M) Spearow ** Picking up the ball, you observe your first capture and feel nothing but happiness and you congratulate Cyndaquil once more.

The girl behind you grins as you introduce yourself, “Stark huh? Nice to meet ya! My name is Bella! And my Hoppip here is called Cotton!” Cotton smiles at you as Bella continues to speak, “Thanks for your help back there, your Cyndaquil is really strong, well .. Stronger than he looks I guess!” She pokes her tongue out at you and then looks down the road, “Darn it, I should be headin’ back down to Mediville, you’re welcome to come if you’d like, my folks would love to meet you!” With those final words, Bella ran off with Cotton held tightly in her arms. What will you do?

-- Stark, you have been a fantastic updatee, and now with your first capture, I am happy to let you leave the Arcane Realm to go into the FB Zones. You impressed me from your first reply and I know you’ll enjoy adventuring in one of the zones we have to offer you. Of course, you may continue here if you wish to. Just remember to follow the zone rules, some are capped. Just contact the specific Zone Owner if you have any questions, they’ll be happy to help you. Good Luck ^-^ --
