"Thank you," Kasai managed to respond, choosing to follow the ranger. She nearly fainted from relief after their encounter. Phoebe, however, stayed still. She looked up at the onix with curiosity, eyes wide. Her little, green gills twitched in thought. She continued staring until Kasai picked her up and carried her along.
Harumi wasn't looking to great, either. Her feathers were ruffled and she looked pretty worn out. She still felt warm, which wasn't really surprising. Kasai decided to carry her as well, but was struggling to see around her two companions. She found her blackglasses and managed to place them back in her bag. "Do you think the swinub will be all right?" Kasai felt she had to ask. She had grown attached to it in this short time and didn't want to leave it. It's a good thing Harumi didn't have to attack, she thought. And what did that hunter want? If he wanted to keep it, he wouldn't have a trap set. I'll never look at poochyena the same way again. The ranger can talk to Pokémon, too. How did that happen?
Question: How did a twelve-year-old get mistaken for a hunter? Does Kasai seem older than she is? (I'm the same way.)
