15 years ago nobody thought Misty would leave the anime. Back then she was seen as the second most important character after Ash, especially since she was originally in more episodes than either Brock or Team Rocket.

10 years ago people didn't think the original trio would ever split up.

7 years ago people didn't think May would be replaced by another female coordinator.

2 years ago people didn't think Brock would ever leave because he had been there for 13 years.

2 years ago people didn't think the Contests would be axed after being in the anime for 8 years.

2 years ago nobody would have ever believed Team Rocket would miss episodes after being in every single one since their debut.


Ash will have to be let go eventually, because if the anime goes on another 20 years it just makes no sense to still see Ash around. Let alone the VA possibly retiring along the way.

Uh, Ash's VA can always be replaced by just some other lady. It's not all that hard for Ash. But for everyone else, it's a little different. But I don't think he will be given up now after all these years. If Ash is working for them, then they won't discard him without using him some more.

Ash = Rica Matsumoto. Partial responsibility for Ash's iconic status goes to the voice actress for her depiction of Ash through her voice. If she retires, then Ash should retire as well.

I guess you could say the same thing about Veronica too because she's the reason why so many kids recognize Ash who live in America. She's not just the only one responsible. The one that does Pikachu is pretty popular too if not more.

Ash is the human logo for pokemon. most kids when they think of what the show is about, it is about Ash's dream to become a pokemon master. by having a new character in gen6, the series would need a reboot to make sence to some of the veiwers who would start watching. to replace ash and pikachu would be detrimental because having another character with Pikachu would not feel the same because Ash's siganature is Pikachu. having his pikachu travel with someone like nate and leave ash out would be very awkward because Ash would not give up pikachu. and having a different pikachu such as Sparky would not have the same feel to it because that is not the pikachu we all know. i think that the time to replace Ash has come and gone. until they let ash meet his endless goal, we will see him until the show ends. however having a Spin off anime would be the best way to get a new character in (like all of the Yugioh spin offs)

Ash used to be awesome. He's seen more legendaries and saved the world more than anyone else. Now, he can barely catch a Pidove. Seriously, it's about time we broke out of the amnesia loop, stopped the Calvinian time paradox, have Ash age, and send a new kid in his place. But that's not going to happen, the target age group doesn't know about the older seasons and they can get away with keeping Ash.

Isn't it said somewhere that the anime will come to an end when Ash wins a regional league tournament??

If that's the case, I wish they'd find a way to keep him from doing that, while simultaneously focusing on a new story arc.
Or at least have a different series to go along with what we currently have.

You know they won't get rid of Ash, they cannot seem to get rid of him already, as long as he has Pikachu, Ash isn't going anywhere.

I doubt it. It would be nice though, that's true. I would just settle for bringing back some old faces.

as much as i would love for Ash to be replaced i can't see it happening, atleast anytime soon. for all we know they are gonna finish this arc then move on into the other region. as long as the games keep producing new pokemon Ash won't be able to "catch em all" and they won't have a reason to end his journey.

Don't mind Cybs, he thought for sure Ash would be going at the end of the D/P series and that didn't happen.
