Thread: Speculation about Team Rocket and Kanto

What would happen to the anime-exclusive Kanto towns that Ash and co first visited? Remember the school of hard knocks? The episode where A.J. had a 99-win streak with a Sandshrew? Or Dark City? The one with the Yas and Kas gyms? If anything, they're best off as the places these World Tournament competitors come from. Yas gym's Scyther and Kas gym's Electabuzz if they appear at all would probably already be a Scizor and Electivire respectively. And A.J. would probably have several Pokémon alongside that same Sandslash. A World Tournament would probably feature exactly 1,024 Trainers including Ash, his main rivals (Gary, Paul, Trip), random COTD's like A.J., and even gym leaders such as good old Brock and Misty. I have a feeling who wouldn't be there: Giovanni as he's busy with TR; maybe Iris as she may take on other dragon trainers in the Blackthorn tournament if there was one. I would guess at the best location for the World Tournament (if in Kanto or Johto) as either Indigo Plateau or Silver Town.

So with TR returning to Unova, I guess everything in this thread is pointless. Was a good theory though.

How do you know they are going back to Unova? Maybe N is just going to Kanto...

The wording of the announcement implies that Team Rocket won't be in Kanto anymore: "In BW Season 2, we get information that TR, who supposedly returned to Kanto, is back?! What on earth is their aim?!"

Basically, Team Rocket's return to Kanto seems entirely pointless, especially as they will only have been gone for 3.5 months (they were absent for four months between the Milo Island and Twist Mountain missions). I hope that the writers have a better plan than retreading Unova, but that seems doubtful unless they're going to explore some bits of the region north of Unova.

If Episode N really is in Unova, then where exactly will Ash and co. go? They already completed Ash's badge quest and went to all of the major towns in the Unova region.

I guess the word "supposedly" is the key. TRio must be going after Pikachu, as they had done when this series first started.

I think it's a really bad idea, but the writers are no strangers to having Ash do some backtracking. Aside from Sunyshore City and the Spear Pillar, no new game locations were introduced in the one-year gap between Ash's seventh and eighth Sinnoh badges. You couldn't even tell where Ash and co. were supposed to be in a large chunk of episodes.

Hopefully the time back in Kanto is enough to rediscover their personalities and get their old Pokemon back. I'd also really hope that they try and use Pokemon Liberation as their guise for stealing Pokemon - that would make their appearance fit in very well - compared to the fighting with Team Plasma idea, which never seemed right.

I am reviving this thread since we now know that Episode N will end in April, giving us roughly six months until the next series starts (at least 21 episodes unless they go overboard with breaks).

The setting of Movie 16, which is called Pokémon Hills, is based on Central Park, but that doesn't necessarily mean that Ash and co. will still be in Unova since the movies have always taken liberties in this regard. The question is if all the Kanto focus (Dragonite, Charizard and Mewtwo) will lead somewhere.

Also note that Ash was heading back to Kanto right before Cedric Juniper got him excited about the White Ruins.

With Mewtwo in Movie 16 its all but confirmed this is Team Rocket's final saga. Perhaps we'll see one final arc with Giovanni and then this will be the end.

I thought that you didn't believe Mewtwo was the one linked to Team Rocket.

I can change my mind on a whim. I don't know whether TR will end in Kanto or not, but it does point to their end this generation.

Personally, I don't see any point of going to Kanto. I expect ShoPro to go the Orange League route after this.

if this is True I think this is maybe the beginning of the end of the era
