I'm quite surprised that they didn't get that guy to dub the puns... Who was it again?

The Japanese version made a lot of puns too. But because they are plays on the Japanese language, they get lost in translation. I think that's why the dub comes up with them - they need new ones. Or maybe they need comedy - in Japan, animation doesn't need to be funny. There is anime that has little to no comedy. Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind is not meant to be funny - it's a very serious film, something that the original dubbers in the 80s failed to understand.

In the early seasons Meowth used to say Meowth instead of Mouth. I am sad that he no longer does that.

Misty: "Now you really look like Ash."
Other trainer: "Looks like your plan just back-fired."
