Except Mewtwo also appeared in the anime before the movie.

I've supported the concept since his line about scientifically bringing out the strength of Pokemon without conscience, then showing up at the P2 Lab.

I was disappointed that the games didn't explicitly reveal whether Achroma was involved with the Genesect project, so I'm hoping the anime will do just that.

Even though i'm sure this will find some way to disappoint, I'm getting pretty excited for this. Since I've been in Tanzania since August I wasn't able to pick up BW2 when they were first released state side. I'll actually be playing through that storyline as this is happening in the anime since I get back home soon. May actually get me invested in the BW again.

okay WHAT is going on here. we see the castle, and king N, all in flames, in the trailer, and N says "Reshiram who will burn all of the world" and it seems flashbacky... and N is already 'fixed' in BW2, which is where this ghetis and those grunts and achroma and the frigate are from...

but none of that happened in the anime. the castle, the whole thing, nothing. and you know it didn't just happen and ash didn't get all "I MUST BE INVOLVED IN EVERYTHING DANGEROUS AND FULL OF PAINFUL DEATH AND MURDER! I AM TEN! LET ME PARTICIPATE! BECAUSE I LOVE POKEMONS!" while some supposedly wiser characters sigh and nod and allow a ten year old boy to become involved in crime ring takedowns and rabid pokemon attacks and the world ending, because that would have happened and you know it.

we haven't even seen cheren, who was major in taking down plasma BOTH times, or the rest of the E4, who got all screwed up by the castle destroying the area, and we've seen caitlin and alder in the anime and they are just fine and jolly, so what exactly is going on? what exactly are they going to do to make this fit? change everything? change some things? N gets Reshiram, Ash gets Zekrom, and then what? they do what? battle? hug?

Is it safe to assume that it did happen, but offscreen, and to someone else?

I tried to translate the new preview...it goes like this:
Narrator: 2013 new pokemon chapter/ season/ arc
N: Are you listening to the voice of your friends? I'm N (can't hear the rest well, but I think N is simply saying nice to meet you).
Narrator: Satoshi and N ( can't hear the rest, but it is something about both trainers' hearts) and something about the gate of truth opening.
N: the whole world is going to ....! Reshiram!!!!
Narrator: PKMN BWS2EN starting 2013

probably it will have had to? but i just don't know how it could have without ash involving himself.


as for the trailer, what it says is:

N: "I heard the voice of your friend/s. I am N and I am very glad I could meet you."
when N and Ash's hearts overlap, the door of truth will open.
N: "It will burn the entire world... Reshiram!"

EDIT: Okay, other people also did this all in a row. Whoops.

EDIT AGAIN: and Silktree reminded me mewtwo is also in some spring merch, including alongside 100% anime based characters. so far that hasn't happened to a pokemon who then was not in the anime? i dunno...
