Pokémon Evolution/Capture/Release Thread

I'm starting to think this is is partially because you hate Ash's Swadloon, because you want it to be released without hesitation, without a second thought, so you want it to be released before it has a chance to evolve.

While I do agree with you on that, you aren't so innocent yourself dman dustin. You are one of the most notorious Ash fans around this place, and if one person were to criticize him, they would be labled an idiot by you. Maybe not blatantly stated but you get the drift.

I think the writers should take their time on the way to Elesa's Gym, give Iris and her Pokemon some more screentime, they are the ones in desperate need of it, as well as Dento.

This isn't about innocence of anyone (or whatever you think I'm arguing). This is about me trying to understand why Hellion would've even argue what he did.

Did anyone on the main cast have a Houndour or a Houndoom?
Did anyone on the main cast have an Abra or it's evolutionary line?
Did anyone on the main cast have the Hoppip Line?
How about the Ralts line?
Or maybe the Shinx Line?

No. Then why argue: I'm kinda wondering if the writers didn't give Ash a Sewaddle and a Swadloon because they needed to showcase the line outside of Arti's Leavanny. Why would they care? Are you saying that it was so marketable and needed to be on the main cast? But how many marketable Pokemon are out there that aren't on the main cast?

All I'm saying is that the writers have to introduce all the new pokémon right? They knew that Arti was gonna have Leavanny and they were only gonna spend one episode in Yagumura forest, so how do you feature both Sewaddle and Swadloon? Have Ash catch one, evolve once, good battle, then what? We've already seen Leavanny in action, it's not an especially special line and doesn't really require much in the way of advertising. It has no real purpose on the main cast with his lack of attacking bug moves and personality, so I'm wondering...

Basically, if there was no other Leavanny out there that we know of, I'd agree that Ash's would evolve, but we've already seen on, in battle, so...

Not really. I'd rather see current pokémon being developped before the League. After it, I wouldn't mind if Gible came back and took the place of a pokémon that's done being developped, no.

Bug types are extremely popular. The series was originally based around catching bugs. Ash hasn't had a Bug-type since Heracross. Scoliopede doesn't fit Ash. The only other early game alternative is Sewaddle. That is the purpose it serves.

Also, the reason it doesn't have a personality is that well it does. Sewaddle was an expy of Caterpie. Swadloon is a cocoon thingy so not a lot to do with it. Leavanny will, I'm sure, end up having a personality similar to Brock's Chansey or Dawn's Togekiss (mother to Ash's other Pokemon). It just has to wait for it's evolution to make it easier for the animators and writers to use. Sadly, you might have noticed that the writing staff sucks with Pokemon that aren't humanoid.

Are we really back to the whole sewaddle swadloon arguement. Seriously who cares, its not like it has been featured in any episodes recently besides the gym battle.

Anyway here is my current thoughts as far as Ash's team goes with evolving
Oshawott- I don't know why everyone is saying it won't evolve because it is cute. It being immature and cute gives me reason to believe it will evolve all the way. It makes developing it easier since over time its getting stronger and more mature. I think Ash will have a samurott.
Tepig- Same with Tepig as Oshawott. It's slowly starting to get stronger as the episodes pass by, I think Tepig is going all the way to Emboar.
Snivy- Even though I would like to see Ash with a Serperior, I'm not sure I can see anything past Servine because I'm not really sure what the writers can do with Snivy for training development at this point. It already has a high level moveset and is quite strong. Maybe will evolve to servine but could stay at Snivy as well.
Tranquil- Ash has never had a bird not end in its final form, I don't see this changing. Will most likely evolve to Unfezant at some point.
Scraggy- Has so much to do with learning new moves, getting stronger, and bonding with Ash. Not to mention its rivalry with Axew. I can see no reason for it not to evolve. I def think Ash will have a Scrafty by the end of BW.
Swadloon- There is really no reason for it not to evolve at this point, it still has moves it could learn, still has development potential, and it evolved into swadloon so fast. I think Ash will def have a Leavanny soon enough.
Other captures- I'm still holding out for Ash to capture Krokorok. I think it would be a good addition to his team plus I don't think it would be detrimental because its already had quite a bit of development without being captured. As far as other captures go I'd like to see ash with one of the fossils (preferably Archen)also Reuniclus would be pretty cool as well.

Here are my thoughts:

Obviously, Pikachu isn't evolving or leaving.

Oshawott will likely break the water curse and evolve all the way into Samurott. It's probably one of Ash's most popular Pokemon, and one of the most used, this generation.

Tepig, as see it, will reach the Pignite stage, and possibly reach the Emboar stage.

As for Snivy, I can see it staying as it is, or maybe going to the Servine stage. I doubt it will reach Serperior.

Based on the pattern set from past generations, Tranquill will more than likely go to the Unfezant stage, mayhbe in another PokeRinger.

Scraggy will likely evolve into Scrafty, but probably not until much later in the journey, maybe at around Icirrus City.

Swadloon will evolve into Leavanny, mainly becaujse as a Swadloon, it isn't very marketable or appealing.

I believe that Ash will eventually capture Krokorok, and due to info about upcoming episodes, a Palpitoad. Out of these, Palpitoad will likely evolve, whereas Krokorok will likely stay as it is. It may be a stretch, but I think that around the league, Ash will reunite with some old Pokemon, and possibly evolve Gible.

For Iris, Axew will likely reach Fraxure, and finally Haxorus before she inevitably leaves. Emolga and Excadrill stay as they are, obviously. I also think that it would be interesting for her to catch a Bagon, to possibly showcase Ruby and Sapphire remakes, but it is unlikely.

For Cilan, I can see both Pansage and Dwebble reaching Simisage and Crustle, respectively. For a capture, maybe a Cubchoo?

For Team Rocket, I can see James catching a Ferroseed that will become a Ferrothorn, and Jessie getting a Garbodor.

if the writers decide to get Leavanny off from Ash's team, then i think Leavanny is best to be traded away for one of Cilan's future captures. Being Cilan, a grass-type specialist, as far as the game is concerned. And i said "future" coz both Dwebble and Pansear (obviously grass) for some reasons, don't appeal that much.. But if it doesnt, then ill be happy for it to stay at the lab or take turns in Ash's current roster xD

As unlikely as this probably is, I'd really like to see Iris catch a Deino. I think it'd be interesting to have on the main cast, and it has a pretty cool type combination IMO. And hopefully she actually does stuff with it lol.

But if not Deino, I could see her with Cubchoo also, I guess. *shrug* Maybe Cilan could catch Mienfoo? I dunno... I can't think of anything for him to catch besides Cottonee or Petilil.

i agree with pretty much all of this :D only i doubt they will feature any non 5th gen pokes (gible, bagon) and im not sure TRio will catch any more pokes but there current ones will definately evolve :D im also not sure about cubchoo but it would be nice :D

and no to all releases DX i wanna see a better example of a rotating team :) catch more pokes and switch 2 at a time... also bring in tepig storyline there :) he gets rotated and gets depressed because he feels like ash abandoned him :) good development

I'm just ready to see some evolution. Since capture speculations can range from a variety of pokemon at this point where I have no clue who'll be next (or if Ash will even catch another pokemon though he probably might), right now I'm just hoping for some evos soon.

If the 4th gym happens after the first BW movie, then I could see Oshawott evolving next seeing as how it's getting some training episodes.

I kind of think Swadloon is one of those Pokemon with a built-in personality...I mean, just look at it! It makes me laugh, at the very least, simply due to its perpetual stoner expression.

I'd kind of like Ash's future Leavanny to become some father figure, personally.

all i know is that for someone who wants to be a dragon trainer, Iris is rather lacking in depth in that department. not even a second pokemon with dragon like attributes. (like sceptile and charizard)
