Honestly, while I don't like the title, I could honestly careless about episode titles in general. If the dub itself can entertain me, then the episode titles are the least of my concerns.

It just seems we're all just nitpicking and overreacting.

True, this is a bit too nitpicky.

I guess I was bothered because the other episode titles were translated so well so I thought they would keep it up.

The titles were all good to me up until "Snivy Plays Hard to Catch!" they start sucking a bit at "The Bloom is on Axew!" this one right here is just plain shit "A Rival Battle for Club Champ!"

A Rival Battle for Club Champ! a really crappy and indirect title. I would've preferred a title like A Formidable Rival Advantage!. But really? This is insane.

April is starting off with some shitty titles.

I like this one, I like the Alliteration with Club Champ, I know there is no Club Champ, or maybe Don George will say it in the dub, with a Club Champ being someone who beats someone at the Battle Club, probably not. Maybe they're just overselling it, but I like it.

Personally, I think it makes it more intense.

Honestly, TPCi should use simpler, four-word titles that don't make the viewer groan.

Like instead of "Snivy Play Hard To Catch," just "Playing Hard To Catch." would be better.

    And so on.

I liked that title. The Problem with TPCi is they seem to forget the target audience i boys the ones buying the games. I doubt they know what the hell those Shakespeare titles are. Just use something simpler and if it aint simple make sure it's clever like. Something like "Causing a lot of Trubbish!" or "Ash VS. Lenora! Nacrene Gym!" or "The Cute Face is Scary! Electrocuted by Emolga!". But there titles are so overcomplicated I didnt know what half the DP titles meant like "Fighting Fire with Ire!

It's a pun on fighting fire with fire and "ire", meaning anger, fury, or rage

I think it might be a subtle appeal to the older audience of this show.....Either that, or they're trying too hard...

What audience are they trying to appeal to with those titles? The early 50 yearolds?

I guess they're using these titles as they know that when kids learn these phrases, they'll look back on when they heard it on Pokemon and say, "So that's what it meant!"

I'm pretty sure that's not the first thing on their mind.

I don't quite understand. What is "indirect" about this title?

Ash and Trip are rivals who just so happen to battle one another in a local town's Battle Club. Since Trip's data was present on the computer, surely he did battle at least once in a Battle Club.

At the very least, TPCI is a lot more literal and straightforward with these titles than they had been in DP and especially Battle Frontier. In retrospect with past methods, was it better to go forward with the 4Kids approach? That is, creating a title completely unrelated to the episode and only to establish a pun using a specific pokemon's name?

A title of an episode should at least give some clue to what the episode might be about. By the time the episode goes to the title card, the audience should know that Ash is challenging Trip to a battle at the Battle Club.

As far as presentation goes, I'm sure seeing words on a screen for a period of 8-10 seconds is the least of the target audience's worries.

Several of the shows that the "target audience" may watch on television at around the same time don't even present a title, so what does that tell you?

How the dubbing company chooses to "title" an episode really shouldn't matter to the target audience, as long as that title really isn't appropriate.

And we have seen a lot worse in DP. "Battling a Fierce Double Ditto Drama" is a common example.
