Wow, time's moving so fast for Gen V. And wasn't already revealed that the complete national dex guide would include Genesect?

This just further proves that Genesect's design may have been based off of those Insecticons like how Golurk was an inspiration to giant mechs in other anime.

No, if Geonosect is the star of the movie its obvious Gen 6 won't come out by September 2013. There is no need to promote an old gen Pokemon in the title if a new generation was appearing right after.

We don't even know that Genesect will be in the title; Regigigas was also promoted via a teaser back in 2007 (as were Ho-Oh and Lugia two years later, despite not appearing in Movie 13 at all). Even if it is, another Pokémon will be added to the title in February and will receive most of the promotion.

Genosect is the main "big" Pokemon of the generation though, not just another random legendary.

Mewtwo, Deoxys, Arecus, etc. were all the leading roles of their movies. Genosect is definitely going to be the star, its not a one-off legend they can throw in quickly like Regigigas or Kyorge or whatever.

Its also possible the entire Team Plasma plot will be done in this movie, so who knows.

With luck they might consider how terrible the Zoroark movie was and focus on the fairly strong ideas the games can give for a Genesect movie. Likewise, considering Zoroark has managed to fall from being an event Pokemon to being directly available in BW2, they could have a better role for Gen 6 Pokemon than promoting something exclusive. It'd be a nice way to introduce the starters, rather than a movie focusing on hard to get legendaries, and be a good way to settle down from the 20 or so that are making up M15.

One thing I'd really like from the movie is to properly show Porygon - there's a fairly key part in how Pokemon could be created in Porygon's existence. Hey, if it's going to include Team Plasma to complete Genesect's storyline, they may as well go the whole way.

That said, my theory of Gen 6 is that the main focus will be on adapting Pokemon to the features of the 3DS, I would be surprised if they added significant amounts of Pokemon, and as such, wouldn't need a whole movie of focus

After remembering the Mewtwo event from last year, this could be a foreshadow that Movie 16 will star Genesect, a Gen VI equivalent of Lucario and Zoroark , and Mewtwo.

That doesn't change the fact that its being revealed now makes it incredibly likely that another Pokémon will be revealed later. Genesect can still be a major character in the movie (as is the case with Kyurem now), but that has nothing to do with the promotion of a new generation.

It is also entirely possible that Genesect will be given a role in the show to justify giving it lesser screentime in the movie (see Meloetta). Alternatively, Genesect may be given a Forme in Generation VI, which would make its role in the movie directly relevant to the game promotion.

Well, it's very obvious now... July 2013 - a movie starring Genesect + gen 6 Poké, September 2013 - gen 6 is released
I see no reason to rush revealing Genesect unless they also plan to reveal sometime in early 2013 a gen 6 Poké which will star in the next movie together with Genesect

Yeah, that's how I've always imagined Genesect would work. The cannon on it's back looks like it's mounted on what could pass as Genesect's carapace, with Team Plasma modifying it so it can extend and retract via the stalk hoisting it above Genesect's head. It's head is also conspicuously flat at the back, and is shaped like the indent just under the cannon itself.

If that's the case, I think it's pretty clever they've basically taken what a lot of insects do in real life, retracting it's limbs underneath it's shell, and turned a basic defence strategy into something cool.

Just remember folks: footage shown in the teasers very seldom (if ever?) make it into the final product...

Why do you think Gen 6 will come next year when the main movie advertises an older legendary?
