Thread: Kyurem VS the Sword of Justice

Kyurem VS The Sword of Justice is airing on Cartoon Network in America on 8th December, starring prolific anime voice actor Vic Mignogna (Fullmetal Alchemist's Edward Elric) as Keldeo.

I think this deserves its own thread.

Probably.

Also, we finally know the Vic Migogna role - it's Keldeo. Apparently he sounds just like Edward Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist (I have yet to see the trailer, as my step-dad is watching the TV). If so...urgh.

Dammit, Keldeo is Vic? He's the Fullmetal Swordsman....

I wanted it to be Kyurem so I could make jokes about how Kyurem wanted to find Reshiram and Zekrom to fix his broken body...

Which is odd because they still have Sacred Sword.

Just watched the trailer...it's Vic Mignogna's usual voice. I loved Vic Mignogna in FMA, but his voice does not fit Keldeo. Hell, if he had done the voice he did for the Akuma in episode 3 of D.Gray-man, he could have done a really good Kyurem.

The trailer looks good. I expected the title to be "Secret Sword" instead of "Sword of Justice" though. What will they call the Three Musketeers in-movie?

The Vic Mignogna fangirls might be all over this.

But if they use that title, it wouldn't be a secret.

Personally, I would have cast Vic Mignogna as Cobalion, or maybe even Kyurem (just get him to do his scary voice). I just hope they manage to get Christopher R. Sabat as Terrakion; that'd kick ass.

I rarely approve when they change a female voice to a man, but Keldeo sounds surprisingly cute with a male voice actor. It's not just my Shoko hate, I mean it!

Nope, probably not. They probably just went with a more cool title to attract more viewers. "Sword of Justice" sounds like a good title.

I'm pretty happy to see a more high profile and known American VA like Vic playing Keldeo. Shoko-Tan's Keldeo sounded like a little young male child or little girl, Vic's will probably sound like a more gender-specific male adolescent or male child. So, they probably chose that voice to attract more of their target audience, even though Pokemon is a gender-neutral cartoon. I look forward to hearing Vic, since he's pretty talented and seems to give it his all and that's gonna be a nice change of pace. I can't get the picture of Broly as Keldeo out of my head though. I actually don't mind Shoko Nakagawa's voice, sure she's quite the overrated Japanese idol but I'm used to stunt casting at this point.

The trailer looks pretty cool and it's nice to find out what role Vic Mignogna has in the movie. Keldeo does sound pretty much like Ed from Fullmetal Alchemist, but I think that it makes it sound more adorable. Plus, I think it's awesome that he could play a major movie role, instead of a one-shot character. I do hope that they'll be able to do that with future movies too, if only to add a bit more diversity than just the New York voice acting pool.

I'm a bit surprised that the movie is going to air in December. I was expecting more of a November air date for the movie, but this works fine too. The trailer does look much more interesting than the last movie trailer, so hopefully it will be a fun movie.

So we have the rare case where a crappy Japanese actor gets replaced by an awesome American actor.

i know shoko is not very popular and is not really that good a voice actor, but she did a very good job on keldeo i think :)

i hope this dub turns out okay, since this was one of the best pokemon movies i've seen. ever.
