One word: GONE
Given that Burgundy's the only rival not to have won a battle in the history of anime on screen, I'd like to see her return, maybe as an A-Class Conieussuese, and beat Cilan.
I'd like to see Georgia too at some point.
Neither Georgia or Burgundy are good rivals in my opinion, but they are likable/entertaining characters, so I do hope that they'll appear again. I honestly would like to see Burgundy win a battle on screen before being written out of the series. She really should have by now since, despite losing in the first round all the time, she has shown to be a good trainer with some strong Pokemon, but they prefer her to be the comedy relief on the sidelines, which might not be too bad if it was funny. Georgia defeating Iris's Dragonite would be kind of nice, especially after the crushing defeat she had from it before, and that could give her some sense of closure, but I don't think that's too likely to happen.
I honestly have more faith in the writers to just have completely dropped those two guys off. To me it seems like BW's been plagued with too many rivals that are actually interesting, disregarding Shooti, and being unable to fully develop any of them. I really think we'll see these two return. How that could fit into the N arc, I haven't the slightest, but they've gotta have a bit more of a resolution.
I honestly don't know what to expect from Cabernet at this stage. I had high hopes for her character when she was first introduced, and though she's remained consistently entertaining and loveable to me, the writers have made it clear that they have more interest in using her as comic relief than in developing her as any kind of serious rival. Part of the issue is that the writers don't seem to have much interest in developing Dento as a character either - he went from being an interesting character himself to something of an increasingly flat running gag (namely, how many random hobbies he can have) - so the rivalry hasn't been given a lot of substance since it began.
I do hope we haven't seen the last of Cabernet, and I would still like things to end upon something of a high note for her, but I've largely abandoned my hope that we'll ever see her become equal or near-equal to Dento. At most, I would expect her to finally advance to B-Class, and I've decided that I would be quite satisfied with such a conclusion.
idk about cabernet
but i love georgia i wish she would pwn iris really georgia is an awesome character
in the end they will be forgotten like drew, zoey, tyson, morrison and the list goes on
They're probably done for the moment as Episode N is coming up soon within the month. As the Pokemon League is already starting, I can't see how the two would fit in the League when they're not League rivals.
Maybe maaaaaaaaaaayyyybbbeeeee after Episode N is complete and GF still hadn't released a new game will they cover the rest of the two.
I'm unsure, considering Da! and all, but I really hope they return.
I don't see any chance of either of them returning. Personally I don't really want them to. They were both treated poorly and basically used a fotter in competitions, losing battles they should have won; mainly Burgundy who was treated as a joke and comic relief. I fear that if they did return they'd just lose to their rivals again in cheap battles and gain no development whatsoever.
Besides that, Ash and the gang are heading to Kanto, and I don't see much of any reason for Burgundy and Georgia to go to Kanto at all.
I can understand why people are so attached to them, but I've said before Burgundy has nothing left and there is no way to redeem her by now. She didn't do well in any of the times she appeared. They might still something with Georgia, but her character doesn't seem like the type who would take defeat that well. She never did. True, she handwaved it due to it not being a dragon in some of those cases, and others, it was that it wasn't Iris. Then she finally gets offed by a dragon, and it's because the dragon acted on it's own. True, this could be corrected, but what do you expect to happen? Controlled or not, Dragonite is still really powerful. I wouldn't blame you for wanting Iris to be brought down a peg, but I think Drayden already did that sufficiently. I suppose there is room for them to develop mutual respect for each other, but I doubt Georgia gives up that easily. What they have already done could be adequate enough. I know it's not satisfying, but the companions never get that complete of a resolution. Besides, from the way it sounds, you don't want them around for battles. You want to hear them commentate. The only way that can happen is during a tournament and for the best effect, it would have to be early on that they get eliminated. At that point, that they're still sticking around and being sourpusses is no longer funny, but sad. That's no resolution, it's pointless.
No doubt both characters were undeveloped. Georgia had the potential to keep being a threat to Iris, but it was ruined after her loss in Junior Cup. She had a Pokédex, meaning she could be in a badge quest, but no information about this was given. I never liked Cabernet, to be honest, so I don't mind her at all. I believe they may appear in some special episode regarding Iris and Cilan, just so they can wrap up their stories.
I really hope Georgia and Burgundy are given a conclusion to their characters before Best Wishes ends. Unfortunately, their rivalries weren't really centred around a particular goal like Ash's are, so it might be harder to conclude the rivalries.
If I was in charge of writing a conclusion for each of them at this stage, I would probably dedicate an episode to each of them and have something like:
Burgundy: Ash & co come across a Connoisseur Convention, which gives connoisseurs the opportunity to show off what they have learned and possibly receive a promotion. Cilan sees this as a chance to receive his promotion to S-Class, but they also run into Burgundy, who has managed to reach B-Class and sees this as a chance to reach A-Class and finally be on par with Cilan. At first, Burgundy fails the test but finally sees a different side to Cilan when he gives her advice and helps her retake and reach A-Class. However, due to focusing so much on Burgundy and her test, Cilan fails his. The two then decide that, once Ash's journey in Unova and the Decolora islands are over, they will work together to reach S-Class.
Georgia: I think this one will definitely be the harder to conclude. Although we could possibly have a special set after Iris has returned to Opelucid City and become the Gym Leader, with Georgia appearing as her first challenger. The two of them battle under Drayden's watchful eye and after a close battle, Iris wins by an inch. This time, being left with nothing to blame the result on, Georgia concedes that Iris is a strong dragon-type trainer and that she'll have to train more and battle her again, with Iris commenting something on the lines of how Georgia was a strong challenger and she'll look forward to their rematch. Basically, taking the antagonism out of it as the two now acknowledge their own strength.
Yay! This thread is back!
I say either a 16-man tournament where Burgundy gets a win with her newly-evolved Samurott, then loses to Cilan's Pansage/Simisage. Georgia can pretty much lose Beartic to Dragonite once again, except that Iris controls Drag this time :-)
Otherwise, Georgia appears just before Iris battles Drayden only to see her beat him with a obedient Dragonite, while Burgundy gets her battle (and becomes B-Class or something?)
