Why didn't 4kids properly translate those signs the only they did translate was the ones in Pikachu's hands and why the hell in the English version is Misty holding signs with Ash's face on it.

Well the Ash face one was a paint edit by 4kids in thay scene.

This subject is a little old, but in the comparison for DP031 you mentioned the Rocket-Dan's "Magic Hand" and were thinking that this wasn't the first time that that term had been used to describe the metal arm that comes out to grab things. Well, I just saw episode 231 "Detective Junsa! The Mystery of the Disappearing Egg!!" and Junsa told Guardie to attack the "Magic Hand" so yes, that term has been used before. How everyone knows the name of that is beyond me. Maybe that kind of thing is common in the Pokemon world for thieves?

Yeah...but the original comparison also stated that the Rocket-Dan scene was well-translated.

Things like that are the reason I'm going back and redoing comparisons of episodes I've already done.

Probably because they didn't have enough space? Those signs aren't really that big, and I'm sure 4Kids found it easier to replace them with pictures instead of trying to cram a translation onto them.

But that just raises the question as to why Kasumi would have signs with her traveling partner's face on it in the first place.

Well...I've since learned that the term "magic hand" is a common term used in Japanese. So Junsa calling something a "magic hand" isn't all that strange.

I think “Pokémon The Rise of Darkrai” will either be packaged with a dub of the second Mysterious Dungeon anime special or a dub of the ANA short "Pikachu's Rescue Club" (ピカチュウたんけんクラブ).


That didn't happen. Pokémon USA doesn't really seem to have any interest in dubbing those ANA shorts anymore (I guess nobody really liked the one that was packaged with the Manaphy movie?), which is kind of a shame because they are some genuinely fun shorts. Ah well.

Not only that, there's hardly anything in the dub DVD either,I would have love to see that Pokemon short. I wonder what the Japanesse version contains as in extras?

Well, most of them were pretty obvious. Though it was surprising to see Satoshi get his 6th badge. I didn't expect the series to start speeding up.

The "Einstein invented the light bulb" joke was funnier when "The Simpsons" did it in 1990.

Yeah, it was fairly obvious Battle Frontier would be released to DVD. Not only because it was PUSA's first dubbed season, but it was also a popular season.

My real question is when the hell is Viz/PUSA going to release the first two Johto seasons and Advance Challenge/Battle on DVD?

AC/B are on single DVDs, but I don't know about box sets.

Extending robotic cartoon hand. Tails's attacks in Sonic Battle use one and are also called "Magic Hand".

It's also used for any claw-like extension, like those things you use to pick up cigarette butts from the highway.
