Thread: Do you think we'll get a fully computer animated Pokemon anime in the future?

If the anime has been going this long and is still successful, it would be a risk to change the animation to CGI, and likely a risk that wouldn't have a whole lot of gain even if it was successful. So the odds of it happening in the foreseeable future seem pretty slim.

As for if it would work? Maybe later on down the line, when CGI can be done to a quality-level at a lower budget. But even then, it'd still look worse than higher budget fare, and as such, the CGI might be more distracting than anything. And that (to me) is at a best case scenario, so I think the anime should stick with the 2D animation. It works, and there are no significant problems with it, after all.

Regular anime episodes in 3D can't be done, cause most TVs doont have 3D features.
We call surely see the new movies in 3D, of course.

The 3D anime trailor for PMD Infinite Labyrinth was very beautiful. If the anime introduced 3D features like that - kept to a minimal degree - then it might work

Lord no. If the whole thing was done in CGI... no. I don't think I could handle that. Not to sound too dramatic haha, it would just lose a lot of its charm imo.

Actually, let me justify a bit more.

If the anime was in CGI, it would make Video Brinquedo look like Pixar.

If they ever go to that, you know the anime's days are numbered.

No way, they can't even use normal CGI properly, why should they turn 3D?

@martianmister, I think you should probably clarify; when you say "3D animation," do you mean 3D in the popping out of your screen, wearing glasses in a movie theater type of 3D, or do you mean computer generated animation like the first Best Wishes! opening? There seems like there's some confusion about which one you're talking about.

By 3D I'm assuming like computer generated, not like stuff popping out of the screen

Because of the increasing trend in 3D animation, it's (very) likely that the pokemon anime will increasingly become 3D, since every other childrens' cartoon is doing it =P
I just hope it doesn't degrade to flash animation O_O

3D CGI animation, like the first BW opening.

OK. It's just that now, in 2013, you can't really use the term "3D" to refer to CGI stuff anymore :P

3D and CGI animation aren't same thing. Flash animation (which is currently popular in USA) is a 2D version of computer animation.

No, god no. Like someone said before, why risk changing something that has been successful since the 1990's?

I know I talked about this just a few posts above - but I think THIS would be just swell enough as the minimum 3D features that'll make everybody happy XDD
