I'm looking forward to seeing Krokorok evolving and taking Dragonite "down a peg". Effectively turning its win-lose ratio to 2 wins 2 loses. Of course I expect Krookodile to be "taken down a peg" soon after by Trip, since ya' know? Can't have Krookodile being too powerful even though it would be perfectly fine. Then of course Cilan's Zeustle will be "taken down a peg" by Trip's Serperior ;P Then of course I expect Serperior to be "taken down a peg" by Alder's Bouffalant, then Bouffalant maybe will go on and battle Cynthia and "take Garchomp down a peg."

It's going to be fun seeing everyone pegging down~

Here's how I see it. People pick on it because it's not something the anime has done before, and it makes it look like he needs to depend on evolutions to win. Of course, there's some fundamental error to that way of thinking since your pokemon evolving is supposed to mean you're a good trainer. There's also the matter that this only joins an already present list of deus ex machinas that have allowed him to win before, so it makes little difference. I can't really say it's a good or bad idea. This isn't like a type matchup that just doesn't work or moves doing things they're not supposed to do, I actually find this plausible. I think another bad stigma this idea has is that it's a common trope of fanfic writers. Like has been stated before, it's merely a device we use to make things exciting. How glorious it is to have the pokemon you've worked so hard to train evolve and pull through when times are dire. Believe it or not, under some circumstances, I do believe Krokorok deserved an evo here, being one of Ash's more developed pokes. I do realize that it could be interpreted as being lazy since more of the evos happened during battle than out of it. I think the main complaint here isn't the general idea, but that it's happening during major battles, like for gym badges and stuff. It happening for other battles is something the anime has done since the beginning. I will only agree on the matter that a lot of the evos could've been more justified, or at least not left to the implication that stuff has happened offscreen. (even then, there is scarce evidence that the pokes are improving, even in the most remote sense) Does this evidence exist for Krokorok? Sort of. I find no problems with it.

Ecruteak Gym battle. Noctowl learned Confusion.

And you could arguably go as far back as Kanto for a mid-battle evolution...sort of. Charmeleon evolved so it could get airborne and reach the Aerodactyl it wanted to battle.

Stick to the evolution that actually happens in the episode, please.

We were merely establishing precedent, Your Honor. The defense now rests.

    Quick statistic, for the debate:

Out of Ash's major battles in Unva, 4 have been won by move learning or evolution 9 have been won by pure battling

In the battle, Waruvile had to depend on Stone Edge, which showed that he wasn't defenseless against Flying Type, and that he had other moves to defend. It was never really treated as something that needed to be overcome or a real problem by the Animé. Plus, Kairyu isn't the same opponent, fights differently and is much more physical giving Waruvial more openings. That being said, the summaries and scans do indicate that this is a very one-sided battle before the evolution. So we'll see. Personally, I feel that Waruvile has shown that he had what it takes to evolve prior to the battle. The writers decided to evolve him here rather than in a filler to create more tension, I say good on them. Mid-battle evolutions aren't always well done or interesting, but the concept of them isn't something that I think is always wrong.

    Mobile summary.

If you can't see it, change Chrome's enconding to Japanese(Shift_JIS).

Nothing new outside of Cattleya is not in the VA list again but everybody else is including Meloetta, and Chaoboo vs. Jalorda seems to be the finals.

    Edit: Ninja'd lol.

Chaoboo again? Slightly disappointed in that choice as while I like the guy, he's gotten quite a few battles since evolution and I think some of the other Pokémon on the team could have done with the spotlight (like Gamagaru or Kenhallow).

Trip's semi looks like it comes first before Ash's. (don't take my word for it... not positive that it says that)

In fact, no COTD is listed.

    Pignite, huh?

Well, I'm okay with that. I like him a lot, although I as well think that the piggy has received quite a lot of battles lately, like the rather important roles in the last two gym battles, and the battle it had against Dawn's Mamoswine. I also wouldn't like to see Serperior beat Pignite when Pignite really has the type advantage... Ugh. Type advantage seems to indicate sure loss these days. :/

Meh. It'll still be nice to see him battling again, he's awesome. Although I was kinda hoping for Snivy to do the battling.
