@AceTrainer14 Umm . . . let's see. Psychological would be something like Death Note or Gamble Fish, where there's a lot of focus on mental acuity and battles of will rather than more physical conflicts. Slice of Life is a genre that covers everyday events, often focusing on these to the exclusion of 'extraordinary' occurrences. Examples of the genre are things like K-On and Lucky Star. Tragedy hasn't really changed since Greek times, I guess. Oedipus, Romeo and Juliet, anything which focuses on the nasty end of stuff as opposed to the good stuff.

Could you please clarify the Original Character genre, I don't really understand why it should be a genre.

And also I'm confused as to what "AU" in the canon stands for.

Well, I'm not really sure about the Original Trainer genre, but AU stands for Alternate Universe. As in, it doesn't follow canon, but occurs in an alternate reality. An example of an AU fic would be a sequel to Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance that occurs at the same time as its actual sequel, Radiant Dawn. It's a sort of replacement for the latter, as in, what could've happened instead of Radiant Dawn.

I believe that an Original Trainer fic. classifies as a story that doesn't follow the usual Trainer fic. route. (which is mostly; get a starter from the lab, collect badges, battle the bad guys, compete in the league, etc.) That's just what I think it is, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks for the clarification! I don't think any of mine end up following under there, but at least I now know :P I'll edit this later with my fics.

I have a question. Aren't journey and adventure kind of the same thing? I can't really see any difference between the two.

They are similar, and there's a lot of crossover. Journey is a genre more specifically suited to Pokemon journey fics, though - where a Trainer gets up and goes trotting off to challenge the Gyms or the Contests in a certain region. Adventure is just, well, adventure: An unusual and exciting, typically hazardous, experience or activity.

Also, here's one last suggestion for a genre. Family. Examples of stories that would fit under this one would be a couple having a new baby, a conflict arising between siblings, weddings, etc. Heck, one could even pull a Romeo and Juliet and have two families fight against each other.

Hmm, not entirely sure about Family. It might be a little too specific, but I'll run it past the other mods with the others.
