SuBuWriMo - June 1 to June 30
Hi, dearest Workshop community! :ksmile:
The staff has prepared an event for next month, based on the NaNoWriMo, which is a challenge to write as much as you can of a completely new story in just a month's time.
The Workshop's NaNoWriMo incarnation, the SuBuWriMo (if you can guess what it stands for, you get a hug!), differs from the original event in that we don't have a single word count goal for writers to achieve, and instead count with three to fit as many writing styles as possible:
- Bronze rank: 1000 to 9999 words long.
- Silver rank: 10000 to 99999 words long (the original NaNoWriMo is set here, at 50000 words)
- Gold rank: 100000 words long and up!
But don't worry about the ranks too much; they're only references. If you choose to try at one and don't reach it, your work is still appreciated and eligible for the next Award Season to be held in July, unlike with the other writing events, such as the Holiday Contest last December.
Now, onto more specific rules:
- To add your story to the challenge, just post a link leading to it in this thread.
- You can write more than one SuBuWriMo story; there are no limits on our side!
- You can continue your story if you don't finish it by June 30, but you will be awarded the appropriate badge for your word count at that date.
- If you finish your story by June 30, you will get automatically moved to the Fanfic Archive and be eligible for the Best Archived Story Award.
- If you post profiles and such in the Author's Atlas, they contribute to your word count! But if you post in the Writer's Block or reply to reviews, that doesn't get into the final count.
- If you don't get many reviews, or they are negative, don't get discouraged! The purpose is to keep writing, regardless of what others think of your story.
- If you are to ask for help in the Writer's Block, don't wait on it and keep writing; you don't have much time, there's only one month!
- You cannot have a head start; that is, you can't use an existing story before June 1 as a SuBuWriMo attempt.
If any question remains, the staff is at your service in this thread! :ksmile:
Re: SuBuWriMo - June 1 to June 30
How does somebody expect to write over 100,000 words in only 30 days? =_=

That's why it is the gold rank :-p
Re: SuBuWriMo - June 1 to June 30

AYEIYEIYEI. I just got done with MayNoWriMo! ;-; And I'm gonna participate in this anyway... I'm insane...

I once wrote about 30000 words of a fanfic in just over three weeks. If you had the whole month off and were very motivated, I think you could easily reach 100000.
Re: SuBuWriMo - June 1 to June 30
This is a great idea. I don't, personally, have the time to participate at the moment but I can tell anyone who is on the fence that doing a WriMo is a fantastic idea. I did NaNoWriMo '09 and completing it boosted my writing confidence a massive amount - it's great to know you're capable of that (although it is hard work and it can get away if you don't keep up with it!) Speculation here but I expect this would be a nice place to do it too since you probably already know a few people so it might be a better community than the NaNo one. (Although the NaNoWriMo community is lovely)
I'm guessing the Bu is SuBu stands for Bulbagarden but I'm intrigued about what the 'Su' may stand for.
Re: SuBuWriMo - June 1 to June 30
As for what it stands for, I'm guessing "Super Bulbagarden Writing Month".
Re: SuBuWriMo - June 1 to June 30
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but how do you know if people just continued writing a story they wrote before 1st June instead of starting a new one?
Re: SuBuWriMo - June 1 to June 30
I already guessed in another thread! Summer Bulbagarden Writing Month... maybe...
I might participate.

Here's my contribution to SuBuWriMo:Singer to the Sea
Re: SuBuWriMo - June 1 to June 30
Should the fic be Pokémon-related? Or does it not really matter?
Re: SuBuWriMo - June 1 to June 30
Actually, I'm going to answer "yes" to that. I'm going to write that fic about Mr. Silph. (And please don't confuse it with Gastly's Mama's writing :3)
Re: SuBuWriMo - June 1 to June 30
Does the fic have to be Pokemon related or can it be anything?
Re: SuBuWriMo - June 1 to June 30
I will be a part of this. I'm thinking about writing a story about Falkners Dad.
Re: SuBuWriMo - June 1 to June 30
Sweet. I'm already planning a new fic and this came at the perfect time.
