Thread: Scum of the Earth (PG)

Of course they call me a petty thug. Anyone not affiliated with a Team gets called that. Only small-time crooks don't sell themselves out to the highest bidder.

They're only fooling themselves, thinking they have any value to organizations like that. Their leaders think of them as scum, probably despising them more than even the public does. They're a means to an end, and that's it.

You're probably wondering how I know that. Well, aside from it being painfully obvious--just think about it, it's human nature to despise those lower than you--sure, I had an experience with them. I used to be a Rocket. Yeah, laugh it up, he hates them now, but there was a time in my life where they were everything to me.

So I know what I'm talking about when I say they're scum.

One may ask what caused me to change my mind about them. Well, I'm not going to tell you the whole thing, but it had to do with my father. See, he's the guy who got me into them in the first place. From the second he came into my life (which happened when I was about ten), it was Rocket this and Rocket that. At the time, I thought it sounded like the greatest thing in the world--really get out there and make a difference, you know?

And before I knew it I was a grunt, the lowest of the low, dirt on the heel of the boot.

My father didn't care. As long as I was on the Team, he couldn't care less. But I tried to avoid him as much as I could.

And then I found out the truth.

The Rockets weren't just after money, like everyone thinks.

To say it even now chills me to the bone. They want nothing less than world domination.

I couldn't leave fast enough. To hell with my father. Even he couldn't keep me there.

I can't be a party to something like that, ever, no matter who else was involved.

And that's why I hate the Rockets. Out of everything, that more than anything. I'd rather be scum of the earth on my own terms than be a slave in glory.
