Flower Power Duel
A week had passed since the latest incident. While sitting on his throne, Lucifer was still fuming over Django’s victory over Cleaver. He was reviewing more events, trying to find another plan.
“Hmph, pathetic humans. Such a worthless species. Can’t even be proper puppets for my plans. While I’d rather deal with Django and his band of buddies myself, they’re too aware of me now, so launching a surprise attack won’t be easy. Plus, as much as I’d hate to say it, I’m still nursing some wounds, so I’d rather be at full power when I crush them. While my pawn, that Cleaver guy, did manage to steal three of those so-called ‘Legendary Number Hunters’ Numbers, Django took them right back after he won. I need a new plan.”
He started to review the six members of the group individually. Once he looked over one of them, he gained a twisted grin.
“Yes, that’ll work. A chain is only as strong as its weakest link. And I know which one of those pests is the weakest link. If I break it, then the rest will follow. Heheheh, yes, that’ll work.”
He got up, opened up a portal, and walked into it, it closing up behind him. On the crystal he was using to review his enemies, it showed Fiona.
At that time, Django was at one of his computers. He was typing in some info on what appeared to be some sort of grid table.
He said silently, “Ever since my Number hunt began, and with the additional help from Tempest and the gang, I’ve managed to collect 56 Numbers, 60 if I include Tempest’s, Cody’s, Leo’s, and Fiona’s Numbers. I now know there are at least 107 Numbers out there, thanks to Tachyon Dragon, so that leaves 46 other Numbers unaccounted for. I have a pretty good hunch that Lucifer has collected some himself, but how many he has, is the question. And who knows if there are others out there hunting the Numbers down. I guess I’ll just have to find out.”
He leaned back in his chair, rubbing his eyes. After a few minutes, he returned to his work.
“Well, at least I know I hold the majority of them, so that’s reassuring. But now we have a new wrinkle in the mix… those CXyz Monsters. They can destroy Numbers outright, so dealing with them is gonna make this more difficult. But, as long as we stick together, we’ll find a way. Dark Magician Girl proved that CXyz Monsters, while powerful, are no different than any other regular monster, having destroyed CXyz Mechquipped Angeneral in battle. But it appears the Barian’s Force Rank-Up card is more powerful than initially thought. Well, at least we’re now alert to them; we just have to be careful.”
At that time, Leo and Fiona were making their way down the street. They were both dressed differently. Leo was dressed in a white, short-sleeved button-down shirt with a red collar and cuffs, a red tie, grey pants, and brown shoes. Fiona was in a sleeveless white shirt with a red collar, a red skirt that reached her knees, white knee-high socks and brown shoes. Both outfits had an emblem on them, and they both had backpacks on their backs.
Fiona said, “It feels weird to be heading back to school. Summer vacation just seemed to fly by, especially with our recent adventures.”
Leo nodded, “Yeah, you got that right, sis. After all the adventures and battles we’ve been through lately, it does feel weird not to be around the rest of the gang. Summer had to end, but at least we can still hang out with the gang on the weekends and such.”
It wasn’t long before they reached their school. It was a proud, high-end building. It seemed structured similar to a stadium, with a large field in the center of it. As they entered the school grounds, they saw other students in near identical clothes; the only differences were the colors of certain parts like collars and skirts. However, little did anyone know that a pair of sinister heterochromatic eyes was watching, waiting to strike.
The twins went about their school day as per normal. They attended their classes, checked out the various school clubs, and chatted with some friends. By the time the lunch bell rung, Lucifer made his move.
Leo and Fiona were eating lunch with two other teens their age. One was a boy with short brown hair, green eyes, and peach skin, while the other was a girl with long blonde hair, hazel eyes, and fair skin.
The boy asked, “So, Leo, Fiona, what have you two been up to over the summer break. You both kinda dropped off the map for a bit.”
Leo finished his bite before responding, “You won’t believe it, Ronald. We’ve been hanging out with Django Spirit, and boy, we’ve had a fair few adventures lately.”
The girl looked surprised, “You’re kidding. THE Django Spirit, the world champion Duelist and greatest inventor of all time? That’s amazing! I bet he helped you two brush up on your Dueling skills.”
Fiona giggled, “Yep, that’s right, Jasmine. You wouldn’t believe what’s been happening. We’re now part of a group of six people. While we haven’t forgotten about any of you, with all that has happened since we first met Django, things have been a bit chaotic at times.”
Ronald asked, “Isn’t Django kinda… anti-social, though? They say he tends to spend a lot of time by himself. Is that true?”
Leo replied, “He’s not anti-social, but he did suffer from severe paranoia, due to many people trying to bump him off, in more ways than one. But he’s really a very nice guy. He has, however, suffered some heavy losses in his life, so the reason why he spent so much time by himself was because he was afraid to make any new connections in fear of losing them as well. But it appears he’s gotten over that now.”
Jasmine swallowed part of her sandwich before asking, “Suffered some heavy losses? Like what?”
“His family was murdered when he was just a kid, with him being the sole survivor of the murderous rampage. Some demon of a man who has a grudge on his family attacked them. Only Django survived. So because he lost everything in one swoop all those years ago, he’s had a hard time connecting to others out of fear of losing them as well. When an orphanage finally took him in, he refused to be adopted because of that same fear. So he’s not anti-social, he just has trouble making friends. But, like I said before, he’s gotten over it by now.”
Fiona added sadly, “After all he’s been through; it’s no surprise he’d have a hard time filling in the missing gaps in his heart. And he greatly treasures how close our group has become, which seems to relieve him of his pain, but he still has that fear. Considering the enemies he has, particularly one of them, his fear is justified.”
Jasmine and Ronald looked at each other, surprised. Suddenly, without warning, both Leo’s and Fiona’s deck holders started to glow and pulsate. Confused, the twins opened them up, and saw their respective Numbers glowing. Taking the two cards out, they looked at the Numbers, which seemed to be trying to tell them something.
Fiona asked her brother, “What’s going on with our Numbers? They’ve never acted this way before. Do you think something is up?”
Leo replied, “I don’t know. They’ve never done something like this before. Maybe they’re trying to tell us something?”
They both thought for a moment before something dawned on them.
“Lucifer!” they said together.
Jasmine and Ronald asked in unison, “Who is Lucifer?”
Suddenly, without warning, a strange mist entered the area. Then, one by one, the other students and teachers started to collapse. Before the mist could reach Leo’s and Fiona’s table, however, the Numbers released several pulses that seemed to remove the mist, but everyone else had already been affected by it.
Ronald checked up on one of the teens before stating, “Whatever that mist was, it knocked everyone out cold. Like a sleeping gas or something.”
Jasmine looked worried, “This is bad! We better find a teacher, and quick!”
As the four of them left the lunchroom, a pair of eyes was watching them.
At the Spirit household, an alarm was going off.
“Alert! Alert! Alert! Lucifer Bloodlust’s energy signature detected! Coordinates: 8439, location: Cyber City Middle School!”
Django and Tempest looked alarmed.
“The twins!” they said in unison.
The Elemental said, “We have to get there before Lucifer strikes them down! Get the car keys, quick!”
Django replied, “The car won’t be quick enough, especially with the city’s speed limits. No, we’ll have to take a different course of action. Tempest, you said you can use your wind powers for flight, right?”
She replied, “Somewhat limited flight, but yes. Why?”
“Then whip up a whirlwind, because we’re going by air. It’s the only way to get there fast enough without running into unneeded distractions like traffic cops.” As they both ran outside, Django stated, “Cyber pack, engage Cyber Wings!”
The sides of the cyber pack opened up, and two pairs of green, sharp, dragonfly-shaped glider wings appeared. One pair was larger and longer than the other. He took a running start, jumped, and started to glide quite quickly into the air.
Tempest called out, “Hey! Wait up!”
She summoned her wind powers around her legs, creating a mini-cyclone. With a gust of wind, she launched herself into the air, catching up to Django. Both flew as fast as possible to where the school was located.
Meanwhile, back at the school, the twins and their two classmates had tried to find help, only to find that everyone had been knocked out by the gas.
Ronald said worriedly, “This is bad! Everyone is out cold! We’re the only ones that weren’t affected.”
Jasmine said in a scared tone, “What do we do? What do we do?”
Leo stated strongly, “Stop panicking, you two! It’ll only make this worse. We have to get outside and see if we can get help. But if this is the work of Lucifer, then we have to be careful. That demonic bottom-dweller might be nearby, so be alert for anyone in a cloak and with heterochromatic eyes. Now move!”
As the four of them ran through the school halls, Fiona noticed her deck holder glowing again.
She thought, “Is Queen of the Night trying to tell me something?”
As they got outside into the large center field, they saw another female standing there. She was a teacher, judging by her clothes. As soon as she noticed them, she turned to the four teens, her long black bangs covering her eyes.
Jasmine said in relief, “It’s Miss Lilly Thorn! Thank heavens!”
However, both twins noticed an eerie glow from under her bangs. They quickly stopped the other two teens from getting any closer.
Ronald protested, “Leo! Fiona! What’s the big deal? She can help us!”
Leo said grimly, “I wouldn’t be so sure about that.”
When Lilly turned completely around, she revealed her face. Her eyes were glowing and smack on her forehead was the Barian Emblem. She gained a twisted grin as she saw the four teenagers. At that time, Fiona’s deck holder started to glow and pulsate again. Then, a pair of projected heterochromatic eyes appeared above Lilly, obviously sneering at them. This caused Ronald and Jasmine to retreat behind the twins.
The twins growled, “Lucifer.”
The eyes sneered, “If it isn’t the tailgating twerps. Not a bad little school you have here. Too bad all it does it teach you worthless human kiddies pointless junk like math and history. You’d learn much more by allowing yourselves to be enslaved by me. Like, how to worship a superior being, how to grovel at one’s feet, and how not to defy the soon-to-be leader of this pathetic world.”
Leo spat, “Like we’d ever worship a bottom-dwelling coward like yourself, Lucifer! What are you doing here, anyway!?”
He snickered, “Why, taking care of business, of course. And this lovely specimen you call a teacher has become my latest toy. As they say, a chain is only as strong as its weakest link. And that link is YOU, Fiona Cloud! So once you crumble before my new mind puppet, then the rest of you pathetic ‘Number Hunters’ will fall before me!”
Fiona thought, “Is this what Number 87 has been trying to tell me?” She then stated strongly, “Look, Lucifer, I may not be the strongest or bravest girl, but I won’t let you push us around! You coward, hiding behind your minions and innocent people! Even if I’m the weakest link, I’ll show you how strong I can be!”
Lucifer’s evil laugh quickly turned into a psychotic cackle.
“You kiddies are so amusing! So defiant, so confident, yet you’re as fragile as a butterfly. Let’s see how strong you are. Go, my mind slave, destroy that little wench and take her Number!”
Lilly replied in a monotone voice, “Yes, Master Lucifer.”
Leo stated, “In order to save the school, you have to Duel her, sis!”
Fiona stated, “Then let’s do this! D-Pad, take root! Duel Gazer, in full bloom!”
Lilly had donned her standard D-Pad and Duel Gazer. Leo, Ronald, and Jasmine were watching from the sidelines, but only Leo seemed confident enough not to be worried.
“Augmented Reality Visual link established.”
Both Duelists drew their starting hands, Life Points at 4000.
High above them, Lucifer was watching from a dark energy platform, mild amusement on his face.
Lilly, whose voice sounded a bit more normal, stated, “I’ll open things up! I Draw! First off, I’m activating the Spell: Pot of Greed. This lets me draw two more cards.” She drew two cards from her deck, looked at one, then activated it, “Since I added my Rose Fairy to my hand via an effect, I can summon it to the field in Attack Mode!”
A new monster appeared. Rose Fairy looked like a pink-skinned fairy with darker pink boots, large ruby red eyes, four dragonfly-like wings, and a large rose on top of her head. She was a Level Three monster with stats of 600/1200.
“But I’m not done. Next up, I activate the Spell: Double Summon. This allows me to Normal Summon twice this turn. So I think I’ll start with my Jerry Beans Man.”
Jerry Beans Man was a little green bean creature with sock-like hands and feet, a short blue cape, and was holding a small sword and shield. It was a Level Three monster with stats of 1750/0.
“Next up, I think I’ll summon my Anti-Aircraft Flower to join my fellow Plant monsters.”
Anti-Aircraft Flower was simply a small cluster of lilies, each armed with what appeared to be a laser cannon in the center of the flowers. It was a Level Three monster with stats of 0/1600.
Fiona observed, “She’s got three Level Three monsters out on the field. She’s gonna Xyz Summon, I bet.”
Lilly replied, “That’s correct, twerp! I Overlay my three Level Three monsters! With these three monsters, I build the Overlay Network! I Xyz Summon Battlecruiser Dianthus in Attack Mode!”
All three Plant monsters became brownish orbs of light, shot up into the air, and entered the red spiral Overlay Network. Out emerged a new monster. It looked like a cross between a dianthus and an alien spaceship. Its blue metal body was sectioned similar to a dumbbell, with a long “stem” and “roots”. On the upper portion of the body were three futuristic jet engines, somewhat cone-shaped, each with a long, thin rod at the ends. The front of the monster was a large, mechanical flower with five pinkish purple “petals” that looked similar to hands, each with several feeler-like attachments, while the center had five circles where the “petals” connected to the body, with a cannon-like center. It was a Rank Three monster with stats of 2100/1800.
Leo said, “I’ve got a bad feeling about that card. Knowing Lucifer, I bet that monster is compatible with Barian’s Force, otherwise Lucifer would’ve picked someone else to be his next puppet.” He called out to his sister, “Fiona, be careful! Pluck that monster before it does the same to you!”
She nodded, “Will do, big bro!”
Lilly smirked, “So confident for such a little brat. But let’s see if you can handle my Dianthus. I activate its special ability. By using an Overlay Unit, I can bombard you with 200 points of damage for each card in your hand! You’re holding five cards, so that’s 1000 Life Points blasted away from you! Go, Big Cannon!”
Dianthus absorbed an Overlay Unit, took aim, the rings in its center charging up energy, before firing. Fiona was bombarded with blasts which knocked her off her feet. She landed with a thud on the ground, dazed, but still focused, though her Life Points dropped by 1000 to 3000.
Lilly sneered, “Did my flower hurt you? Aw, poor baby. You’ll be happy to know that my turn is just about over with. So I place one card face-down to end my turn.”
Jasmine stated, “Miss Lilly isn’t acting like herself. What’s wrong with her? She’d never mock or hurt a student.”
Leo explained, “That demon Lucifer has brainwashed her, turning her into a puppet to do his bidding. So the change in her personality is due to his influence on her. I saw this happen before, with that leader of a biker gang. Sure, he was probably a jerk to begin with, but he was far more sadistic and evil when Django Dueled him. After the brainwashing vanished, he had no memory of what he did or what happened. So it’s safe to say that Lucifer’s brainwashing has temporarily warped Miss Lilly’s personality. Once Fiona defeats her, then the effects will wear off.”
Fiona got up, nodding, “Leo’s right. And I will win.” However, she said mentally, “I hate to say it, but I know I’m the weakest link in the group. While being around Django has strengthened me, it’s no surprise Lucifer targeted me this time, as targeting Django is much harder. But I have to be strong, otherwise I’ll drag the rest of the group down. So here I go!” She said aloud, “It’s my turn, I Draw!”
She quickly reviewed her cards, carefully thinking things out. She then took a card from her hand.
“I activate my Swords of Revealing Light! This paralyzes all the monsters on your side of the field for three turns, preventing them from attacking. While it won’t stop Dianthus’ ability, it does keep me safe from other problems.”
Several sword-shaped objects made from light energy appeared on Lilly’s side of the field, locking everything in place.
“Next up, I activate the Spell: Card Destruction! We must both discard our hands and start out with a fresh set.” She observed mentally, “And since two of the cards I’m discarding are two of my Plant Princesses, I can use them later to call out Queen of the Night. I just have to be careful at the moment, and wait to see if Miss Lilly uses a CXyz Monster, so I don’t want to risk my Number just yet.”
Fiona discarded four cards, drawing four new ones from her deck. Lilly discarded two cards, drawing two cards from her deck. The young teen then took another card out of her hand.
“I place one monster face-down in Defense Mode. Then I place three cards face-down to end my turn. That’ll do for now.”
Lilly grinned, “Then it’s my turn, I Draw!” She looked at her new card, smiling, “You may have dodged my Dianthus’ ability, but you won’t dodge what I’m about to do! I activate the Spell: Rank-Up-Magic Barian’s Force! This allows me to rebuild the Overlay Network with my Rank Three Battlecruiser Dianthus! Go, Chaos Xyz Evolution!”
Dianthus turned into an energy bolt and entered the dark Overlay Network. It erupted with power. Deep inside, the chained Barian Gate suddenly opened up, releasing its power. When its power washed over Dianthus, it was consumed in a green orb, followed by several long, squared, segmented lines coiling all around it.
“Barian power: the true nature of chaos, deliver your judgment on these lowly creatures! Use your unstoppable might to create a new era, in which the power of Barian rules it all! I Xyz Summon CXyz Battleship Cherry Blossom in Attack Mode!”
Out of the orb emerged a new monster. CXyz Battleship Cherry Blossom looked like a cross between its namesake and an alien battleship. Its massive body was primarily white, with its main body designed like a metal disk, encircling it were several structures that were a fusion of both booster engines and cannons, with the center parts colored chocolate brown. The back of its body was a glowing pinkish red energy, and trailing behind it was a long metal “stem” ending in a sharp point. It was a Rank Four monster with stats of 2400/2000.
Ronald and Jasmine asked in unison, “What’s a Chaos Xyz Monster!?”
Leo growled, “I knew it! That cowardly scum Lucifer knew Miss Lilly had a monster compatible with Barian’s Force, so he chose her to be his next mind slave. Fiona, crush that monstrosity! Show Lucifer the true power you possess!”
Lucifer laughed, “True power? That little brat? You pathetic humans are always so amusing, even though that’s the only good thing about your species. Trust me, runt, when this is over with, your precious little sister will be pounded to a pulp. Now do it, my pet!”
Lilly nodded, “Yes, Master Lucifer. I activate Cherry Blossom’s ability! By using a Chaos Overlay Unit, I can deal you damage equal to the number of cards on the field times 300. There are currently six cards on the field, so you’ll take 1800 points of damage! Let her have it!”
One of Cherry Blossom’s Chaos Overlay Units started to glow, transformed into an energy bolt, and was absorbed into the center of the body. Cherry Blossom charged up a lot of energy in each of its cannons, took aim, then fired. The blasts rained down upon Fiona who tried to shield herself from the attack, but was thrown off her feet. She crashed to the ground, a bit battered up, but quickly got back up. Her Life Points dropped by 1800 to 1200.
“Next up, I think I’ll get rid of those useless Swords of Revealing Light with my Mystical Space Typhoon! That’ll leave your monsters vulnerable to attack!”
A massive typhoon swallowed up the Swords of Revealing Light, shattering them in an instant. Fiona couldn’t help but look a bit worried.
“Now my Cherry Blossom, attack her hidden monster with Flower Shower!”
Cherry Blossom charged up more energy in its cannons, took aim, and fired at Fiona’s hidden monster. The monster was revealed shortly afterward. It was a mangled monster, seemingly constructed out of twisted roots, with several black spikes jutting out in various places, two arms with long, sharp black claws, a whip-like tail, and a contorted head with a vague face. It was a Level Four monster with stats of 1500/1000. It was destroyed effortlessly, but Fiona was smiling.
The younger twin smiled, “Thanks for doing that. You destroyed my Lord Poison, which activates its special power. When destroyed in battle and sent to the Graveyard, I can choose any Plant monster in my Graveyard, besides Lord Poison, and Special Summon it to the field! So I revive my Talaya, Princess of Cherry Blossoms to the field in Attack Mode! She’s a REAL cherry blossom, unlike your knock-off monster.”
The Graveyard Portal opened up, allowing Talaya to emerge from it. She took a battle pose, looking confident, with the portal closing up behind her.
Lilly growled, “You think you’re so smart, don’t you? Then try this on for size! I activate my Spell: Ookazi! Say goodbye to 800 Life Points, brat!”
Fiona was engulfed in flames. She did her best to shield herself from the fire, but could feel the heat from them. Her Life Points dropped by 800 to a mere 400.
Leo called out, “Fiona! Are you okay!?”
She replied, “Yeah, I’m okay, at least at the moment.” But she thought grimly, “But one more assault like that and it’s over.”
Lilly stated confidently, “That’s enough damage for now. Let’s see what you’ve got, twerp.”
She touched her deck, thinking, “Please, deck, help me. I need a winner right now.” She said aloud, “It’s my turn, I Draw!” She drew her card, smiling, “Yes! I activate Pot of Greed! This allows me to draw two more cards!” She drew two cards, looked at them, before activating a card on the field, “Next up, I activate my Monster Reborn! So I can revive another monster from my Graveyard! So I revive my Chirubimé, Princess of Autumn Leaves to the field in Attack Mode!”
The Graveyard Portal opened up yet again, allowing Chirubimé to emerge from it. She took a position next to her fellow Plant Princess, the Graveyard Portal closing up behind her.
“Next up, I think I’ll summon this little flower to the field. It’s my Lonefire Blossom, and I play it in Attack Mode!”
A new monster appeared. It looked like a closed flower bud attached to a twisted stem and roots with two leaves adorning it. It was a Level Three monster with stats of 500/1400.
“Now I activate my Lonefire Blossom’s ability! Once a turn, I can Tribute a Plant monster on my field to summon any other Plant monster from my deck. So I Tribute Lonefire Blossom itself to summon yet another one of my Plant Princesses! So I summon Tytannial, Princess of Camellias to the field in Attack Mode!”
Lonefire Blossom seemed to burst, releasing an impressive display of fireworks. Fiona’s D-Pad ejected a card, which she played right away. Tyrannical appeared on the field, taking a position next to her fellow Plant Princesses.
Leo grinned, “Lucifer’s in for it now! Show him how it’s done, sis!”
Fiona nodded, “Will do, bro! I Overlay my three Level Eight Plant Princesses to build the Overlay Network! I Xyz Summon Number 87: Queen of the Night in Attack Mode!”
Talaya became a blue orb of light, Tytannial became a green orb of light, while Chirubimé became a brown orb of light. All three shot up into the air before entering the galaxy-style Overlay Network. Out emerged Queen of the Night’s sealed form, which quickly unfolded into her true self.
Jasmine was in awe, “She’s… she’s beautiful. I didn’t know Fiona had such a monster.”
Ronald turned to Leo, “Leo, what’s a Number, anyway? And where did your sister get it?”
Leo chuckled, “It’s a long story, but she’s not the only one. I have one, too. As for what a Number is, let’s just say it’s a special breed of Xyz Monster for now. But Queen of the Night is gonna crush Cherry Blossom!”
Fiona stated, “Meet my strongest monster! But she’s about to get even stronger! I activate the Spell: Horn of the Unicorn! This Equip Spell boosts my Queen’s Attack and Defense by 700 points, making her quite the contender.”
A long, golden unicorn horn appeared on Queen of the Night’s forehead. It infused her with extra power, boosting her stats by 700 from 3200/2800 to 3900/3500.
“Next up, I activate one of Queen of the Night’s abilities! By using an Overlay Unit, I can boost any monster’s power on the field by 300 points. So I think I’ll give my Queen yet another boost! Your mechanical flower is about to be demolished!”
Queen of the Night absorbed an Overlay Unit before she started to glow with power. Her power increased by another 300 to 4200.
“Now, Queen of the Night! Attack Cherry Blossom with Moonlight Petal Dance!”
Queen of the Night whipped up a petal whirlwind, throwing her bladed weapon into the center of it. The whirlwind transformed into a vicious petal cyclone, charging toward Cherry Blossom.
Lucifer stated, “Let the brat have it!”
Lilly nodded, “Yes, Master Lucifer. I activate my Trap: Wall of Thorns. This acts identical to Mirror Force, but can only be activated when a Plant monster on my field is targeted for an attack. It sends your attack right back, destroying all your Attack Position monsters!”
Fiona countered, “Not if I can help it! I activate my Trap: Trap Jammer! When a Trap is activated during the Battle Phase, this Trap negates and destroys it! Sorry, but my Queen isn’t going anywhere. Your monster, on the other hand, won’t be so lucky.”
Lilly’s Trap started to crack before shattering. This allowed Queen of the Night’s attack to continue unopposed. It slammed into Cherry Blossom, slicing and severing several pieces of it before the bladed weapon sawed through its center. This caused Cherry Blossom to crackle, then explode in a fiery inferno. The explosion threw Lilly back, landing with a hard thud, her Life Points dropping by 1800 to 2200.
“Now I activate my final Trap: Blossom Bombardment! When my Plant monster destroys another monster in battle, that monster’s Attack is taken out of your Life Points! It’s over, Lucifer!”
Lucifer roared in anger as several flower petals exploded around Lilly, charring her. When the smoke vanished, she collapsed on the ground, her Life Points dropping down to zero. A “Win” screen appeared, showing Fiona, before the Augmented Reality vanished. Leo, Ronald, and Jasmine jumped for joy, while the Barian Emblem vanished from Lilly’s forehead.
High above them, Lucifer cursed, “Dammit! Even the littlest brat managed to defeat my wondrous CXyz Monster!? How is that possible!?”
A voice spat, “I know the answer, and it’s coming your way by air mail!”
Lucifer turned around just moments before a flying Django barreled into him, knocking him off his platform. As the dark Psykinox started to fall, Tempest appeared.
“Here, Lucifer, let me help you!”
She released a massive blast of wind directly at him. The blast thrust him downward at a much faster pace, causing him to crash into the ground, not far from the teens. As the dark Psykinox grunted and groaned, getting up, Django and Tempest stood between him and the young teens, eyes flaring dangerously.
Lucifer snarled, battered, bruised and beaten, “Damn you, Django, and your miserable friends. You have not seen the last of me! Mark my words!”
A portal opened up under him, allowing him to vanish into it, just moments before Tempest could blast him with another wind attack. Django merely snarled before turning his attention to the teens and their teacher.
“Leo, Fiona, are you two okay? You’re not injured in any way, are you?”
Leo smiled, “No, we’re fine, but we’re glad to see you.”
Ronald and Jasmine were stunned, “No way! It really is Django Spirit! But who was that?”
Tempest explained, “That was Lucifer, a vile, sinister, murderous, yet cowardly creature whose only goal in life is to conquer and rule. He murdered Django’s entire family, as his family has a long history with Django’s. We’re fighting against him to stop him from destroying any more lives, with Leo and Fiona helping us. I’m just grateful you two are okay.”
Fiona smiled, “We’re fine, but what about everyone else in the school? Plus Miss Lilly?”
Django walked over to the knocked-out teacher, examined her, before responding, “She’ll be okay, but she’ll probably have no memory of what happened, just like Cleaver. But everything should be okay. Now that Lucifer is gone, your school will return to normal. I do recommend you four keep this whole thing Duel under wraps, but I will have a talk with your principal, just to alert him of any future attacks. But everything should be fine now that Lucifer is gone.”
A short time later, the effects of the knock-out gas wore off, allowing everyone to wake up. After checking up with everyone, Django talked to the principal, alerting him of other possible attacks, but also telling him about the twins’ bravery. About an hour later, Django and Tempest were ready to leave.
Leo said, “Thanks for coming to help, guys. Now the school is alert to any future attacks, and Fiona and I are going to get special awards for our part in stopping Lucifer.”
Django smiled, “Good, I’m glad to hear it. Your parents will be very proud of you. But quite the way to start off the school year, huh?”
Fiona walked up to him, nervous, “Django… be truthful with me… am I the weakest link in the group?”
He turned to her, “No, Fiona, you’re not the weakest link, I mean that. We all have our strengths and weaknesses, and we’re all learning to overcome our faults. No one in our band of six could even be considered the weakest link. We’re not a chain; we’re more like a web, with each part supported by several other parts. No matter what our individual strength is, we will always be equal due to our connections. So, no, you’re not the weakest link. We all build upon each other, and no matter how strong or weak one of us was at the start, that’s no longer the case. Don’t see yourself as weak, as you just proved today that you can be very strong. We’re all proud of you. So never see yourself as weak. Got that?”
Tears formed in her eyes, “Thank you, Django, for everything.”
With a final nod, Django and Tempest left the school, but not before giving the twins a final thumbs-up. Their bond now strengthened even further.
