    Exclamation New Workshop Feature: Prefixes!

    Hi, everyone!

Here's your Workshop Head announcing (a tad bit late) that we now have Thread Prefixes enabled for the Writer's Workshop that will allow us to tag our fic's titles with a general content rating easily.

    Our prefixes are:
    • Everyone: Ratings G and PG. Think the Pokemon anime.
    • Teen: Rating PG-13. A little bit more extreme, implying more violence and/or the mention of death, alcohol, drugs or sex.
    • Mature: Ratings R, NC-17 and Unrated. The previous rating driven to graphical extremes, as much as the written medium allows.

You can edit your current threads to reflect your story's rating:

Or filter the Workshop forum to show you only a certain rating at any time:
    prefixes2.jpg

Or even search with keywords and limit the search to a certain prefix:
    prefixes3.jpg

...that's all for the moment, dearest Workshop community.

Feel free to ask any doubts about these ratings and prefixes here

Great addition! Does that mean writers can remove the rating in the first post?

Remove the rating, yes. But if there's some content that could offend people (such as yaoi/yuri, abortions, religion, etc.), that still must be put down in a content warning.

For the moment, you don't have to, but it's highly recommended you do.

Awesome addition! I think my fic falls in between "Teen" and "Adult" so I'm rating it "Adult" to be safe.

    Edit: "Mature" I mean.

Decades have passed, and Kanto is a much different place. Follow Lucas Green as he and his friends search for answers and look to fulfill their destinies.

So, just as a heads-up for people, here's how I'm structuring my ratings with these prefixes:

(My ratings range from 5 to 19, remember.)
Anything 11 and below will be classified as "Everyone".
Anything 12 to 16 will be classified as "Teen".
Anything 17 and up will be classified as "Mature".
The word "quadragonal" is the only word with "dragon" in it where "dragon" is not a root word. That makes it awesome.

Why use the ESRB video game ratings? That always bugs the hell out of me when I see it. :/
Don't know what to put here.

Because they're less restrictive and far easier to understand than the movie ratings, or any other ratings in existence.

Then can there be a E10+ rating for stories inbetween the everyone and teen criteria? It doesn't feel right that my story (blood and violence, but not on a extreme level) would have a TEEN slapped on it

"Hello Goodbye, Twas nice to know you
    "Hello Goodbye, I'm rather crazy
How I find myself without you
And I never thought I was crazy
    That I'll never know
    But what do I know?
    I let myself go"
    Now you have to go"

Teen isn't that far from age 10 (in Mexico, the rating begins at 11-12 not 13, for example), and also blood is OK; it's sex and drugs what would worry me being included in the Everyone rating...
