oh this was in Pokémon gold:
I didn't realize the fact that the Ghost gym had an invisible path, so I borrowed action replay from my friend so I skipped that part.
When I play the game for the second time without cheats, I realized there was an invisible path and I was like ¬_¬

When I used to play my older sisters Pokemon Sapphire on the GBA. I knew how to walk in the game, I could read, And hell, Could I train. But I couldnt get that you had to walk near the grass to trigger oak to go to his lab. My older sister had to do it for me everytime. I think I was 3 or 4.

I think you mean FireRed/Leafgreen since Oak isn't in Pokemon Sapphire....

As for me it took me to HeartGold/Soulsilver to realize that Nature affects your stats growth and so do characteristics.

That's about all I can think of for now.

When I wanted to find Rayquaza in Emerald, I had NO CLUE where the Sky Tower was. But this is the stupid part: I already went there to have Rayquaza stop Groudon and Kyoger from fighting!

I also didn't know why Normal and Fighting type moves had no effect on Ghost Types. And my starter, Blaziken only knew those Types of moves, and it was the only Pokemon I ever trained.

I'm a full time Pokemon Breeder! But please visit, I really do appreciate the help.

Only until about a year ago, I started caring about natures, abilities, and STAB. Before then I really didn't care lol.

On my first playthrough of Yellow, I only had a Caterpie, a Pidgey, and of course, Pikachu by the time I reached Pewter City. I was summarily creamed by Brock countless times. It got to the point where I was so furious at the game that I swore I'd never play Pokémon again, and I let the cartridge gather dust for weeks.

But I couldn't bring myself to hate Pokémon, so eventually I decided to have one more go at it, and then was shocked to discover they had added Mankey to Route 22. I went back to Pewter and exacted sweet revenge, but only after feeling very foolish about it.

I once played a few Pokemon runs with the other starters, and called Snivy:

Such a worthless piece of crap. Why did I take you from that stupid dare?! WHY?!

I just remembered back in the day, I had the pokemon handbook. Not a strategy guide or anything, it did list all the gen 1 pokes. On my first playthrough, I did actually save the master ball for mewtwo. On my second playthrough, however, I remember reading that the handbook said something about if I were to defeat mewtwo I would be a pokemon master. I seriously thought something would change if I defeated mewtwo instead of catching it. So I did! Lol.

I spend days (I think even weeks) wondering around the Wayward Cave in Diamond to find a Gible, only to realize that I was looking in the wrong side of the cave the entire time.

Also Diamond was my first game and I spent the majority of the game only leveling up Piplup, so i ended up with an Empoleon at lv 73 by the time I reached the Elite 4 and the rest of my team was in their mid 30s. I thought the point was that you were supposed to have your started stronger than your other pokemon (But I overdid it ^^)

I also used my Master Ball on Dialga...after I got its energy into the red. I thought that Dialga was the only important legendary I'd need. I even made Uxie and Azelf faint because I thought I didn't need them. At least I learned my lesson on Pearl.

It also took me days to get to Candice at her gym.

    Look Forward, Team Rocket!

Also I claim Piplup in the Claim a Pokemon thread =)

I thought that in a battle, once you ran out of pokemon on the field, you lost. So for example: Let's say I have a Vaporeon and a Venusaur on the battlefield, and a Groudon in reserves. I thought if Vaporeon and Venusaur fainted, you lost.

    >When I was first going through Viridian Forest, I came across a wild Pidgeotto. My ten year old mind thought, "Wow! A Pidgeotto!" When it broke out of the Pokeball and said, Aw, it appeared to be caught (or something like this) I thought, oh bugger, someone has already caught this. The only thing I kept thinking was "I wish people would stop leaving their Pidgeotto's around" for about ten Pidgeotto's. :/

And then I realised what the game actually meant.

It was OK, I caught one eventually :)
I did the same thing with the "Aw, it appeared to caught!". And I was so frustrated and confused when it wouldn't let me run away sometimes.

Also, when I was younger, I would secretly play my big bro's pokemon game (can't remember what it was). But when I was going to save (even though I was trying to be secret), when it said "Are you sure you want to override your data?" I thought it meant that it was just going to be what I just did on the game, not what my big bro did. So I didn't do it cause I was scared. :)

I somehow did not realize for ages that ground and rock were two different types.
