Not to me, but I was showing my RP buddies some of my Pokemon macros and I got to the one of Saturn with breasts from DPA and someone goes "...is that character supposed to be a guy?"
She thought he was female, even after playing the games.

How can you lose a Pokemon, short of accidentally releasing it?
Probably my silliest moment was in Diamond when I had to find Lake Valor. I seriously thought that the southern ocean was Lake Valor and that somehow, there was a break in the boulders that would lead me to the cave. I really didn't clue in that the two guys standing by the shadowy path into the trees, praising Team Galactic, were really standing in front of Lake Freaking Valor. I really didn't clue in that the shadowy path looked exactly like the entrances and exits in Eterna Forest and would lead me to said freaking lake.
Also, I used my Master Ball on Dialga. One of my most painful mistakes was to rely too much on my starter (now a brawny lvl. 100 Empoleon*, whereas none of the rest of my habitual team has broken lvl. 70). I'm trying not to make the same mistake in Platinum, though my Empoleon is a good 20 levels stronger than my regular team.
*Who has single-handedly defeated the Elite Four.

i decided to play crystal a few days ago and i had a lvl 60 typhlosion and 5 other lvl 10 pokemon in my party. no wonder i could never beat the elete four
In FireRed I was trying to train my Pikachu in Diglett Cave since the Diglett were around the same level but I didn't realize that my Pikachu only knew electric moves. It took me about 20 times trying to defeat a Diglett with Pikachu that it wasn't going to work. >.< I played Pokemon before that. Sapphire was my first game and I knew electric attacks were useless against ground but for some reason I didn't realize my Pikachu wasn't going to do any damamge to the Diglett and Dugtrio.
Well, I did make it almost to the Elite Four without any kind of solid guide or Pokedex. It was silly of me not ot get one, but surprisingly, I survived.

I didn't know how to save for the first three days.
The first three times I played through Blue circa 98/99, I had no idea that there was a HM to Fly. I just never went into that house above cycling road. So I cycled everywhere. I also didn't know about Repels

A friend of mine has been stuck on her first file from Blue since it came out. She was trying to get to Cinnabar through the islands. I asked her why she didn't just go from Pallet town.
She facepalmed.

Could never find my way out of Viridian Forest...
Also, named my rival OAK for some strange reason, so the whole game i thought, when reading the statues at the Gyms, that professor oak, in his prime pokemon trainer years, had also beaten all of the gyms hahaha.
More recently, couldnt seemt to notice the door on the right side in the lighthouse in hgss, my 10 yr old brother with his strat guide actually let me in on that one!
might have never beaten the game
Oh gosh... theres too many XP
First, I had never seen a Tropius before. My poor wasted Master ball -_-
Next, I accidently released my brand new Skitty all because I thought "release" meant to release it from the PC :\
Then, I KO'ed Kyogre, Regirock, ice, and steel, possibly Requaza...
I was nine T^T

How to get into Saffron City in Blue: how was I suppose to know that I was suppose to buy the drink for the guard? I was 10 at the time, and it was the reason I got the strategy guide for it, since I did not have the internet at the time. Also, it kind of confused me that instead of buying the drinks in the remake that you now need to get the tea from the lady in that building from Celedon. I did question why she gave me that tea in the first place since, I got the tea before I fought Erika since I was exploring area again, then when I walked through one of the gates to Saffron City, then I realized why. I still bought a lemonade regardless.
Saturn was a boy, not a girl: Really, he looked feminine to me, and I would also like to add that the anime didn't help this at all. I guess the one part that should have tipped me off was the fact that Saturn lacked breasts like Mars and Jupiter, but for the longest time I thought that Saturn was a girl.
when i was playing through blue first time round i couldn't read so well, and i thought "potion" said "poison", so i was all like "noooooo way, the games trying to trick me into MURDERING MY POKéMON" and so never used them. i actually finished the main quest though, thanks to the simply named "full restore". then i got to gen 2, where it tells you what the items did (and i was old enough to understand it), and i was like THE FUCK?!
ANDI used BITE! It's super effective! Enemy SANDWICH fainted!
I thought that Rain also boosted the accuracy of Water-type moves when I first played. Turns out I was wrong.
