Thread: Why is Silver so popular among the fandom?

Before HgSs he was awesome. After he was awesome and sexy. Coming from a guy who likes girls 100% that's a compliment.

He's a bad boy and the girls love bad boys.

Well, let's give a little overview here, shall we?

Green is lighthearted enough to crack a joke occasionally, but he's mostly a cocky jerk who's so full of himself it's a wonder he doesn't explode. At least, at first. He seems to have gotten better by the time he's the Viridian Gym Leader.

Brendan/May is less of a rival and more of an assistant.

Wally, from the same set of games as Brendan/May, is a little kid trying to prove to himself and everyone else that he can do things on his own.

Pearl is some kid who drinks too much Mountain Dew. Seriously, someone give that guy a sedative.

Silver is easily the darkest of the rivals—humorless, demanding, abusive, sadistic, sometimes downright evil (remember that he stole two Pokémon, his starter and his Sneasel). To top it off, he's the son of the previous generation's main antagonist. All of this makes him a massive departure from the other rivals. So, not only is he badass, he's also unique.

He's also the best looking.

I openly acknowledge, however, that my opinion of Silver is also influenced by nostalgia, so my reasoning is unquestionably flawed.

I don't, I liked Barry, hyper and overactive :L

Well it's simple

Bad attitude + Horrible family life = Fangirls/boys.

He physically and mentally abuses you, and possibly his Pokemon to some degree, he possibly sexually harasses you once (when he supposedly yells at you to take off your Rocket uniform) and whines about how "weak" you are even though you beat him, because you care about your Pokemon and think of them as your friends?

Your bratty/cocky rival (Green) and friendly ones (Brendan/May and Pearl) can't be "worse" then him.

Before he gets his Heel Face Turn he's a mega jerk. And not the cool sort of jerk, like Paul from the anime, either.

Silver is an awesome and badass character.

Because he's the only rival who has balls. Literally. Green and Blue aren't going to throw/hit you, this guy would.

The point is, he's more of a threat, thus making him, in some peoples eyes, a better rival that the others.

Me? I like his because his appearance is pretty cool, and as said, he has balls.

That's like saying why Red is so epic
