I think Coontank didn't think that there was anything behind that fiery mane. They aren't actually that mutated. The Bulbasaur lines back sprite, now those are ugly.
[QUOTE=Arseus Ex Machina;321982][quote]"Yubitsume, or finger-cutting, is a form of penance or apology. Upon a first offense, the transgressor must cut off the tip of his left pinky finger and hand the severed portion to his boss....(When a British cartoon, Bob the Builder, was first considered for import to Japan, there were plans in place to add an extra digit to each of the title character's four-fingered hands to avoid scaring children.)"
No wonder human characters in Japanese anime are drawn with five fingers instead of four.
Anyway back on topic: Machop, Machoke and Machamp have definitely changed for the better.
I mean, BLECK!! They don't even LOOK as muscular as they do now.
The Red/Blue Machoke looks more like a girl doing Playboy poses than it is showing off some muscles. I mean, SERIOUSLY, just LOOK at that sprite to see what I mean.
I noticed that the Red and Blue sprites take a more realistic approach, compared to the newer generation. That doesn't change the fact that a few remain unforgivably ugly.
While some of the old R/B sprites are atrocious (the backsprites make me want to scream), you have to admit that there is a lot of detail to some of them. Well, okay, maybe I'm the only one who thinks that.
Over the course of about two months, I recolored every R/B sprite. I'll post it up if anyone wants to see.
...But if I had to choose...
I never knew if my precious starter was pouting over his shoulder at me, or if he was looking ahead.
I though the Nidos were rabbits, not pigs...
Disco Fever Omastar...?
Seriously. What the hell is wrong with this thing's head?

I wish I was White enough to dance like Carlton. He's my hero.
