Almost every Gen I backsprite. Hard to beat the ugliness in those.

Not that Golem's Yellow sprite is much better:
Er... where's its head? I've been looking forev—oh, wait, I found it. Seriously, what happened there?
Simple: it's because many of the Yellow sprites, despite having them more on-model, put them in somewhat unusual poses (like that dancing Meowth.)
In my opinion, Emerald has the best sprites out of any Pokemon game. It really captured their traits.
I'm sorry, what Pokemon is this? I don't even think that this is a Pokemon.
Look at Exeggcutor in Red and Blue. it's grown like 5 feet since then :P .
Let me list some bad sprites.
I never really liked this sprite. It looks like it's flat on the floor, like RB Machop.
This looks terrible. Popo the magic Dragon, now in Pocket Monsters!
His eyes looks weird. Somehow Game Freak messed up on Charizard twice.
The spriters didn't even follow Sugimori's art. Good thing it was fixed in Crystal.
Listen, I KNOW it was based off a embryo and a cat, but it looks too weird and screwed up.
There is no picture here, there will never be pictures here.
Also, my favorite game on the PC is Civilization IV: Beyond the Sword!
I agree with most of the above except my Golem, don't attack my precious Golem. D:

Also I tend to notice that Mewtwo's Green sprite looks rather advanced, it's like they spent all of their valuable spriting time on my least favorite of all Pokemon.
COME AT ME BRO
The attention to detail and perfectly accurate portrayals of pokemon obviously reached its apex in generation I. No other generation has been able to match it since.
