Can you 'create' your own shiny pokemon in Gen I?
Hey all,
I read on Bulbapedia a pokemon can be shiny if it has certain stats. I was wondering if you could modify the stats in Pokemon Red/blue with the missingno glitch and then trade it to get a shiny pokemon? Or doesn't it work like that? :-) Was just wondering this!
Re: Can you 'create' your own shiny pokemon in Gen I?
Any pokemon from gen 1 will be non-shiny, no matter what
Re: Can you 'create' your own shiny pokemon in Gen I?
... Unless you trade it to G/S/C.
I've heard that you can get a shiny Ditto by trading a shiny from Gen 2 and catching Ditto after it transforms into it. Apparently Ditto permanently copies the shiny's IVs, so you can trade it back to G/S/C and get a shiny Ditto. As for other species, there's people working on creating Pokemon via the Celebi egg glitch, which might let you control IVs, but I'm not sure.
Yep, here you go: Shiny ditto glitch.
Re: Older Games: Simple Questions Thread
Is it possible to get Eevee in Emerald without trading? Bulbapedia indicates it's impossible, but I heard a rumor that it is possible.

It isn't possible, unfortunately.
EV training probably best when main story completed
So I started from the beginning of pokemon HG again. I had the idea to EV train my Totodile at the start so he'll be ready for anything.......problem is I don't have any items to help speed up the process. Should I continue the training or just go.......?
Re: EV training probably best when main story completed
Just go ahead with the game. EV training doesn't really help much in-game, anyway.
Re: EV training probably best when main story completed
What I usually do is catch some dump Pokemon to trade to my other versions in exchange for some EV training items (and pokerus, provided I have it available) or just trade my Pokemon to another game and train it there.
If I really wanna train my Starter but have no means of doing so during the main quest, I'll just box it until said means become available.
With that said, if all you want is to go through the game, EV training isn't necessary at all. You can use the stat berries later and retrain your Pokemon.
Re: EV training probably best when main story completed
Personally, if there's a Pokémon I really like, I'll trade that over, EV train it, then trade it back. It helped in some cases, IE my Jolteon sweeping Silver+ three members of elite four, but for the most part it's redundant.

Re: Simple Questions / Simple Answers (Gens 1-4)
Sorry for posting here again, since nobody else posted in the other topic, but there's something I want to share with you...
Sugimori answered to this tweet of mine... But as usual... It had to be the kind of answer I was hoping not to get...
From Google Translate and my own understanding, I get he said something like those questions couldn't be answered by his own accord, most likely meaning he needed permission to talk about the topics of the questions I made, and that we was sorry for that.
Then I asked him if he could redirect the questions to Satoshi Tajiri himself, but so far no news...
Does anyone know if Tajiri have a Twitter account?

Right when you come out of your room after beating Wallace in Emerald, your mother directs you to a report on TV. It mentions a flying Pokémon, but the TV report is briefly interrupted by static. Your mother asks you what color the reporter said the Pokémon was and you choose between red and blue. Red makes Latias roam and Blue makes Latios roam.

Re: Simple Questions / Simple Answers (Gens 1-4)
Ruby questions:
should I give my Absol (Kutabe) Aerial Ace to cover his weaknesses to Bug and Fighting?
should I give Rock Tomb to Nuzleaf/Shiftry (Tengu) to cover his weaknesses to Bug, Flying, Fire, and Ice? Already planning to get Extrasensory (gets rid of Fighting and Poison) before evolving him. plus, he has a Hasty nature and Chlorophyll and Fake Out.
What item should I give my Castform (Teru-teru)? I have Weather Ball, Rain Dance, Sunny Day and Thunderbolt.
What moves should I replace Curse and possibly Faint Attack with on my Banette (Tukumo)?

I only have suggestions for the first 2, sorry... but yes, Absol has high Attack, teach it Aerial Ace. Also, Rock Tomb is a good idea, even though it is kind of weak. I hope I helped.
