Thread: Signature Moves

Everybody knows about signature moves: moves only one pokemon can learn.

However, me being the reality freak I am, I always wanted moves that seemed especially suited to a pokemon to be especially powerful.

Like Nidoking. Idr what the later pokedexs say, but I remember the Gen I pokedex said something about it having an especially strong tackle and I always wanted its tackle to be like a special move.

And the cut moves for Scyther, like fury cutter and slash. It should've been better at those moves than other pokemon.

And Diglett's dig should've been specially powerful for Diglett because...well, that's what it's known for. The same for Dugtrio and Earthquake.

And dream eater should've worked better for Drowzee and Hypno than it did for something like Kedabra.

Not to mention I always wanted Lickitung's lick to be more epic than anyone else's lick.

Does anyone else really want certain moves suited to certain pokemon?

yeah, lickitung is something ive always wanted to have super lick...

and jiglyouffs sing.

I want Dusclops to have a special move. Like Black Hole or something. It can do such stuff in Pokemon Ranger: Guardian Signs.

Definitely, I mean it wouldn't even be that hard to implement you could just have a certain bonus inserted into the damage multiplication formula. Signature Move Attack Boost [SMAB]?

Groudon could get SMAB on Eruption. Same with Kyogre and Water Spout. Why Rayquaza never got something like "Storm Cell" is beyond me.

I like your idea. Jigglypuff's Sing could be 100% accurate, etc. It would certainly put more Pokémon without real signature moves into the spotlight a little more.

I always thought that Rhyperior's was cool. Jirachi's too.

Totadile family and also mawile should get a boost for bite type moves. I think...

It definitely is an interesting proposition, although at some point you run out of moves and some pokemon are at a disadvantage because they do not have a signature move.

If SMAB has a 1.5x boost like STAB, imagine what Rhyperior's Rock Wrecker would do..... 300 Power against anything that doesn't resist it.

Charizard - Seismic Toss
Blastoise - Hydro Pump
Raticate - Hyper Fang (maybe)
Psyduck - Confusion
Electrode - Explosion
Hitmonlee - all kicking moves
Hitmonchan - all punching moves
Snorlax - Body Slam

Lapras and Surf?
Heracross and MegaHorn?
Blaziken and Blaze Kick?
Slakoth and Yawn?

Why Seismic Toss for Charizard?

It's true that SMAB and STAB would add up to be something completely insane.

I prefer the idea of increased accuracy and perhaps more likely additional effects? Like Lickitung's Lick is twice as likely to paralyse, Scyther's cut could make the opposing Pokemon flinch. Although some moves could just get a damage booster, like Tackle or Explosion - things that don't already have STAB.

Could also have things like reduces Defense where the attack usually wouldn't or more likely to where it sometimes would.
