That's what I initially thought so too... but when my friend emailed me that phrase I used it and got the same reaction from the Wife as he did. An insperational response and a Durin berry. It only works once though, the next day the phrase just got me a Rawst berry.

Unless it was some amazing coincidence or we somehow have similar whatevers going on, it might just be something to look into.

Hmm, maybe it does affect what berries you're given. I'll have to try it today. But maybe it has to do with events on the TV, because if you've beaten the E4, and you have Ruby, then that would make the connection very likely. But I'll have to throw that into my experimentation when I get around to attempting to write a comprehensive berry FAQ.

Well, I just thought i'd post something. Saw this a week ago, but I didn't know anyone wanted to know/have seen this, so, er...i'll just shut up, and continue on. ^^; Thanks again Meowth346. =D

    Default Rocket Pad?

I've heard rumors of a rocket pad. What exactly happens there?

You can get a Sun Stone, but as of yet, nothing else has come out of it but rumors.

I found this today on Pokemon Forever. It's relating to the berry master's wife and the phrases she's looking for:

'I've been asked, "There's an old lady that wants a phrase and gives a berry. Is there a special phrase for a special berry?" There are in fact five special phrases. I don't recall which berry each phrase gives. Also, I don't know if the phrases have changed from Japanese to English version without checking. The phrases, in case anyone else would like to try them, are "Much Match", "Challenge Contest", "Overwhelming Latias", "Cool Latios", and "Old Hassle" in the Japanese version. Just punch in these words and see what berry the old lady gives.'

At least now I don't have to keep trying different combos of words to figure out which ones are special.

Huh, that's really neat to know. I wonder what the other berries given are. Oh, and good luck with your FAQ. Trying to figure out berry names is enough for me. As it is I'm throughly stumped as to what those few berries I don't know might be.

    English Version Phrases:

    Great Battle (Spelon Berry)
    Challenge Contest (Pamtree Berry)
    Overhelming Latias (Watmel Berry)
    Cool Latios (Durin Berry)
    Super Hustle (Belue Berry)

I'm afraid I can't personally verify all of these, though. But from what I've heard, they should all work in the English release.

  8. #68

Ah. I can verify on two counts that 'Cool Latios' gives a Durin berry, and one count on a Pamtre Berry from 'Challenge Contest'.

And I can verify Great Battle and Overwhelming Latias. So 4 out of 5 means the last has to be right as well.

Is there such thing as thunderbolt TM. If there is, then where can you find one?

Yes, there is. You can get one by completeing the New Mauville side-quest for Watton. To start the side-quest find him walking around Mauville (some time after you've beaten him) and talk to him. More can be gotten by ways of the Casino, it's TM 24.

To obtain a free thunderbolt TM first you have to talk to wattson (the electric gym guy) after you beat flannery (the fire type gym gal.), and he will ask you to go turn off the power generator before it explodes or something. Just surf down, and where the bicycle road begins surf, and enter the cave to the right. Go through the lab, and hit the switch. Come out, and head back to Wattson and he will reward you with thunderbolt. Or you could buy it if you have the money to burn. :)
