Generation 1- (RBY)-Misty (FRLG)-Koga/Sabrina
Generation 2- (GSC)-Pryce (HGSS)-Claire/Chuck/Lt. Surge
Generation 3- (RS)- Brawly (E) -Flannery/Tate&Liza
Generation 4- (DP)- Fantina(Plt) -Crasher Wake/Maylene
Generation 1: Probably Sabrina, since nothing really hurt them back in those days.
Generation 2: Clair and her stupid Kingdra. I had no dragon types to fight her back.
Generation 3: Those damned psychic twins. It always takes me forever to beat them, no matter what it seems.
Generation 4: Meh I guess Volkner on my first playthrough. I didn't have a ground type so I had to switch my Lucario out with a Gible and train it from the ground up all for one badge. I ended up keeping Gible in my team which helped me win in the Elite 4 though, so I guess its not that bad.

Gen I: None, they were easy to defeat
Gen II: Whitney becoz I usually don't have fighting type on my team
Gen III: Wattson coz I never chose Mudkip as my stater
Gen IV: I'm always well-repaired in this gen so none
Gen I: Sabrina... Alakazam from hell
Gen II: Clair
Gen III and IV we're both pretty easy with the gyms
Gen 1 - I never had any problem with any of them
Gen 2 - Whitney
Gen 3 - Tate and Liza
Gen 4 - Cant even think of one that was sorta hard

Gen 1. BROCK. He was impossible to beat until you learned to evolve metapod into butterfree and use confusion out the @$$. Also, I recently JUST LEARNED lightning is effective against rock. I'd been basing my knowledge of this from gen one when every rock pokemon had a secondary GROUND typing so you couldn't hit them. Tripped me out.
Nothing in gen 4 was even sorta hard.
I applaude Falkner on sticking with his Pidgey followed by a Pidgeotto in his gym battle. It may not work but DAMN if he isn't consistant. HEY FALKNER, EVER HEAR OF A HOOTHOOT?
Gen1: Sabrina-hehe, bug type.
Gen2: Whitny- DEEMON MILKTANK
Gen3: Watson- if you chose treeko, your screwed for this won, i chose treeko -_-
Gen4: ...none, particularly, but The ice one, cause she's a Bitch, hail, and she pulls out a medicham! THAT'S NOT EVEN ICE TYPE
it's a good idea as a trainer, have something to cover weaknesses, but,it's a bitch ass move as a gym leader. same thing with Volkner's octilary
also, why are people saying Tate/Liza, they each had one pokemon of the same type combonation, if you have one poke,on that can beat that, you have everything you need

Brock in Yellow wins generation 1 hands down.
Gen 2 goes to Whitney, not surprisingly.
Gen 3 was pretty easy for me, I think Norman was actually the most difficult.
The hardest Fr/Lg leader for me was Koga.
Gen 4 was also pretty easy, maybe Fantina gets this.
Hg/Ss was definately Morty. I could not beat him until I used a furret with odor sleuth. I'm not even kidding.
brawly from gen 3 OMG HE IS TOUGH
I remember Gen 3 Wattson. Due to me not knowing Shock Wave was a never-miss move, I spent countless turns Sand-Attacking his stupid Manectric.
Finally won on my third try after he accidentally paralysed my Ralts/Kirlia and Synchronize paralysed him too, which allowed my Combusken time to attack him.
