How come there is no "I liked it" option?
Gen.3 was awesome. It prevented me from getting too attached to my Feraligatr and Vaporeon.
I was blissfully unaware. I plugged my Ruby version into my brand new GBA, and the first thing I noticed was COLOR. My reaction in an emoticon: 8D
I didn't care if I didn't see Rattata or Hoppip for the millionth time. I was all "wow, look at how colorful this is!! I love this game already!" My misgivings at how odd Brendan looked vanished instantly, as his sprite was adorable, too.
Things went on from there, and eventually Hoenn became my favorite region. Did I want to go back to the low-quality black/white/gray blocks that was Crystal or Yellow? Hell no. I lived in a future of color, and am I glad I never joined that silly bias!
Signature is a WIP for the moment.
For now, I have claimed: Mewtwo, Member's Card, Wide Lens, Honey Gather, and Psystrike.
nostalgiac doesnt have a like buttonbut I liked it. The starters werent superly cute as Johtos bit they were most useful. Especially the awesome Mudkip line! They did bring down fire's usefullness with Torchic because he's half fighting and the last 3 gyms being flying, psychic and water. And slow defensive fire types when they should be fast hard hitters being with many weaknesses. But the music was awesome too
For the purpose of this thread, "I liked it" and "I didn't care shall be one and the same. If you wish to see more of my shortsighted polls, go visit my Wireless Adapter Thread, where I ignored the fact that Player's editions of Fr/Lg didn't have an adapter.
As for me, the shift really didn't hit me at all. My copy of Yellow was a bootleg, and Crystal and Blue were PC emulators. Sapphire was the first chance for me to play a Pokémon game for real, and I was deprived of a chance to import all my Gen I and II Pokémon to Gen III that I wouldn't have had.
I was slightly dissapointed at first, but I got over it quickly enough. Since all the Pokémon released at the time were programmed into the game, I knew there was a way to get all the older Pokémon at some point.

Didn't care about that too much. The reason why I didn't like the games was about the surfing everywhere, not the gen 2 incompatibility thing.
It never really bothered me. I liked it a lot. The newer Pokémon introduced, as well as the storyline, improved graphics, and everything else, it just made everything great! For me, it was something I looked ofrward too.
To be honest, Kanto is my most hated region. i just didn't like the Pokémon. What reayy got me up in the Pokémon craze was Johto, and after that, that's when I became a real hard core Pokémon fan.
It didn't affect me at all. It couldn't. I wasn't even aware of Pokemon games existing until I was about 12. Or maybe I did, but I forgot. I remember having some merch from the 90s when the anime was huge stateside but other than that, I only remembered the anime.
In any case, my first game was LeafGreen at 13 and that was after the DS had already come out. Played it, enjoyed it. I hated almost all of the Pokemon designs, though. I remember enjoying Sapphire (my second game) a hell of a lot more because I loved the mons and the region.
Then I went back and played Crystal. Bad idea. Very bad.
"There's hardly any color here!
Everything looks all blocky!
Where the hell are my running shoes?!
Everything looks the same! Where the crap am I?
How did people play this garbage back then? Makes me glad I didn't get a GBC when it was the cool thing to have!"
It's like I was really born in 1998!
Looking back I literally felt betrayed. I wanted to blame someone and so ended up looking down on the older games.
It didn't mar my view of RS though since they were the shiny & awesome new games too perfect to betray me in such way, and I didn't really think of the programmers at the time possibly being at fault since I didn't really know how the games were produced back then so I reasoned it must've been a problem with the older games, failing to keep current.
So yeah, if anything it ruined the older games for me. I've mostly gotten over it now, however.
It didn't hit me. My first game was Sapphire. Although I was very shocked when I first saw a Gen I game after playing Sapphire for a couple of years.

Actually it affected me in a positive way. I usually like things to be rather aesthetically pleasing, and Gen III went that step closer.
And I suppose that's how Gen III became my favourite and got me fully biased for Hoenn :D
Err, this is the most awesome temporary sig. Ever.
I was pretty much fucking pissed that i couldnt bring all 250 pokemon i slaved to get all on my Gold/Silver to Ruby and Sapphire. I never finished a National Dex in Gen 3 either
