Thread: Help with Emerald

In order to get the Hoenn Legendaries in Diamond, I went out and got myself a used copy of Emerald. Lucky for me, the (I'm assuming) girl who owned it before I did had already captured four legendary Pokemon, so she saved me a lot of trouble. My questions are mainly regarding the legendary pokemon that she didn't obtain.

First off, Marine Cave. Since Kyogre didn't show up in her Pokedex, I know it's still out there. I know what Routes it shows up on, from reading article on Bulbapedia, but is there a way of finding out where it's showing up without having to visit each individual Route to see if it's showed up?

Second, Lati@s. She had Groudon, so I know she's beaten the Elite Four already. Is there anyway to find out which one she selected before I encounter it?

For Kyogre, you go to the Weather Center on Route 119 and one of the guys upstairs will tell you where there's a ton of rain at a certain spot. Kyogre will be there.

As for Latios/Latias, you're gonna have to encounter it first, and then you can at least get the Pokedex location info.

Ok, my next question is once again about Marine Cave. Even the the Route it's located on switches, will it's position within the route remain constant?

You will usually find a peculiar looking square of water, use Dive on there (on whichever Route it's on). Once you dive down go south and then west to find the entrance to the cave of Kyogre.

Ok, snagged Kyogre. I got really lucky. I didn't know that as soon as you came within a certain distance, the battle would start on it's own. I only had a few Ultra Balls, and was at a serious disadvantage both type and stat wise, but was able to catch it on my second toss.

My next question is about Registeel. What the hell is up with this thing? I've beaten it down to within an inch of it's life, paralyzed it, and have thrown over fifty Ultra Balls, but the closest it's gotten is two shakes before it busts loose! Should I reset and try a different status ailment, like Sleep or something?

Yes, Sleep increases the Catch Rate more than Paralysis.

Gah. Thanks, but you were about a minute too late. Took me 79 Ultra Balls, but I finally captured the damn thing. I'm gonna upload it to Diamond right now so I can finally get Gigas. After that, I'm gonna search around for the previous owner's Lati@s, then start a new game once I catch it and upload into Diamond.

For one, because I payed for the game, and by God, I plan on getting my money's worth.

Second, because I never got around to playing the Hoenn games. I know what the basic storyline is, (The whole thing with Teams Magma and Aqua and all that.) but I don't know the details.

Third, because it's always nice to have extra legendaries handy for trade bait.

Why not just use the Emerald cloning glitch?
