And (correct me if I'm wrong) most of the 'mons that weren't available in RSE were available in FRLG.
I like Gen III, with it's nice greatness, only water spoiling it, a bit, but I didn't like Gen V, as BW was too short. I got to Ghetsis in Pokemon White in only 5 days. Not RSEFRLG. So, Gen III was successful, yet losing fans, gaining fans. Gen V has just started, and may end, so I believe that III was more successful.

Also, my favorite game on the PC is Civilization IV: Beyond the Sword!
I don't have much more to say than the above didn't explain, however:
While RS scared away a lot of blind Pokémon fans, it brought in that much more of a new breed of PokéManiac, a breed from which I, myself, originated. And true, Arcticwolf, I've looked into the games' code a bit, and the structure of offsets, scripts, and tile allocation are all based off of Generation III games. For instance, Gen I/II used a 32x32 pixel overworld tile system with movement permissions integrated into the tiles, while Gen III onward used 16x16 overworld tiles with movement permissions saved apart from the map.

I think the Gen III reboot was rather "incomplete". It would've been absolutely succesful with the new Gen IV mechanics, like physical/special and else.

I would say no, because most of my friends quit because of the game system commitment.

Gen III is my favourite Generation, but as a reboot? No. I don't really think it had enough fresh elements to it to blend in with the old. However, it was truly a striking game that I felt was unique, but most do not feel it was with the repetition of large variety of elements, so it was not successful in that area. Also, the different elements were not large enough in order of appreciation, IMO.
Funnily enough, my two favourite Generations are the reboots. XD
