I personally like the graphic style. It's very colorful and there are some interesting elements, but it mixes pretty well with the environment in question.
Personally, I think Game Freak wanted to promote the transition between the Color and Advance by giving Hoenn a lot of elements to promote the boost in graphics and memory. Deserts, oceans, volcanoes, caves, grassland, the route with the raining ash, underwater, overworld weather, the list goes on and on.
I liked the graphics in RSE but hated the graphics in FrLg. I think it's all a matter of preferences, really.

I LOVED THEM! And hated the Gen IV Graphics, but then they grew on me and I LOVED THEM! It's a cycle for me really.
I liked the gen III graphics better. Who the hell cares about 3D!?Looks over at the 5 to 9 Year Olds

Sapphire was my 1st pokemon game. I think the music is terrific in it. I don't like the blocky-ness though. I like the more sharp graphics. Platinum is fine with me. I don't need to go as far as HG/SS did.

I don't always resist, but when I do, it's with The Resistance. Stay resistant, my friends.

I've no prob;em with FRLG's graphics but that's probably just because every time I saw something in FRLG I compared it to ho it looked in RBY.

To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of Generation II graphics at all.
Generations one and two had that old-school pixely quality to be that makes me feel like a little kid. A lot of my childhood memories are held within those blocky sprites. As for generations IV and V, they are very true to the actual appearance of the pokémon, as far as it relates to the anime and manga.
With Generation three, it held neither of those qualities for me. The sprites, to me, seemed almost too rounded, for example, I really don't like the Charizard sprite. It seems chubby, almost like something's missing from it.
I don't really expect anyone to agree with me though.![]()

They gave me a headache for some reason. A lot of gba games did, actually. Don't know why.
Porygon gave me a headache.
I think the relative simpleness of the graphics makes them more appealing, at least to me. I found them to be cute, but not so cute that it felt like a little kid gamewhich it is.
I like how the move bullet seed looks. It's not a sprite, but there you go.
I kinda like the graphics in Gen 3 the most. Feels so fast, after suffering with loading time after loading time with Gen 4.
