E.V's

1. ## E.V's

please help!! i know there are other threads like this explaining E.vs, but i don't understand any of it. i need somebody to break it down for in a manner that's easy to understand. please!

2. It's the how you build your stats on a pokemon, attack, defense, special SP and DEF.

3. i know that but how do u calculate them? thats the part i dont get

4. This explained it for me awhile back when I had no clue about them http://www.psypokes.com/lab/evguide.php

5. I havn't tried it before, but I can understand it.

Effort Values are hidden points your pokemon gets.

Bidoof has good hp, so fighting four would give you one HP EV.

Fighting four Zubats would give you one speed EV.

510 is the max EVs the game lets you have and no individual stat can have more than 255.

You do not need to repeat this when you level up. They stay there permanently.

This is just the basics. I find it quite boring to read about LOL, so I'm trying not to bore you, but hopefully this will help you a bit when trying to read someone elses guide again.

No, for 4 ev's you get a stat point. not an ev.

7. -Pokemon can have a total of 510 EVs

-255 EVs in each stat

-Every 4 EVs is equal to 1 Stat point upon reaching level 100.

-That means you only need 252 to fill a stat

-Macho Brace doubles the amounts of EVs earned in battle

-The new Power Braces add an aditional 4 EVs to their respective stats(depends on which you use) along with the EVs you gain from a battle.

-Pokerus doubles the amount of EVs earned in a battle. Yes it stacks with Macho Brace and the other braces.

-Vitamins are not affected by these.

-Each vitamin gives 10 EVs to their respective stats.

-Each Pokemon can only take vitamins for their stat until they have atleast 100 EVs in that stat.

-No vitamins DO NOT increase the EV caps of a stat, meaning that you can only get a total of 255 EVs per stat.

-you must calculate them manually, use a tally chart.

-Different Pokemon give off certain amounts of EVs. (cannot list them all)

8. Can you EV Train a wild Pokemon? As in, you didn't hatch it from an egg.

9. You can EV train anything, provided you can battle enough Pokémon to do so. If you have a level 99 Pokémon with 0 EVs in each stat, and you can battle and faint 255 Bidoof without gaining a level, then you'll get full EV bonuses for HP when you hit 100.

It doesn't matter what level the Pokémon starts at. As long as you have enough levels to go to 100 (or whatever your goal is) to EV train it, you can. Heck, you can EV train a level 1 Pokémon... sure, they take about 9 Exp. to grow a level, but it doesn't mean that any EV points are wasted.

A tip for the higher-leveled Pokémon, though. Get the stat boosters (Protein, Iron, Carbos, etc.) and give ten to a newly-caught Pokémon to boost your desired stat. Then just start battling Pokémon that add to that stat's EV points and you should have 255 in no time flat. Yes, this requires that you keep track of what you're battling, but eh... it's what you gotta do. If you're doing it for Special Attack, of course, go for the Old Chateau, Gastly Haunter, and Gengar are all that's there, and they give ONLY Special Attack EVs.

I am going to try EV Training for my first time but I need to what what to EV Train in.What stats should I EV Train my Larvitar?I have Adamant Nature and it knows Dragon Dance.I was thinkin Speed and Attack.

11. Only Lv. 100 pokemon get 1 stat/4 EV, but can my pokemon still get the stats when it reach lv. 100, even if it is at a lower level now and has max EV points?

12. Go for it. Tyranitar's main stat is Attack, so enhancing it is the best thing you can do. Speed's one of its deficiencies, so definitely go for that, the more that's boosted the better off you'll be with quick attacks. With Outrage, that thing would be a monster.

Your Pokémon is getting the stats. You just can't see it because they're mixed in with the automatic stat growth that comes with leveling up. Say you have a Pokémon and its exact clone. You EV train one while not doing so to the other. When you level both up one, the non-EV'd one will grow stats, however, they'll be a lot less than those that the EV'd one grew. What "+1 stat point every 4 EVs at level 100" means is that for sure, at level 100, you will have gotten all of the extra stat points.
