Thread: Desperately tried to give away my Pikachu in Yellow Version

I'm curious if other people have tried this.

When I was younger, I played Pokemon Yellow almost nonstop. I beat it multiple times, using every party a younger version of me could easily acquire.

In the Pewter Museum, there was a man who would say something along the lines of "my daughter wants a Pikachu."

He's on the second floor. He's the man standing next to the girl.


I spent months trying to figure out how I could trade my Pikachu to him. Usually, I'd have my pikachu faint as many times as possible, and would keep it in a secondary spot in my party.

Did anyone else try this? I am aware now that it can't be done, but I laugh thinking about it

Well it is possible to trade it away or put it in the box.
You could even trade it to another game, evolve it, and trade it back:B It won't follow you anymore if you do that however.

Haha, I guess you were a kinder child than I was. When I read that dialogue I just felt that much better about myself for having a pikachu. XD

I tried to do this as well, I disliked having to use Pikachu.

I am assuming you never talked to other people in the game otherwise child or not you might have realized that those who will trade with you will actually strait up ask you "Do you have a____, wanna trade one for my_____?" or something along those lines.

I liked my Pikachu just fine. Although I did once try to evolve it not knowing it wouldn't work, I like Raichu better.

Getting the yellow version was pointless if you didn't want to use the pikachu imo. But it is possible to "box" the pikachu I have no idea if you can release it or not because I haven't tried. I was wondering about the guy who asked for the pikachu in the museam when I was younger lol.
