These games are made in JAPAN, by JAPANESE people. Therefore, the colors of coolness (a.k.a badassness), and the color of beauty, will be how the Japanese see them. That is why Red is Cool, and Blue is Beauty.
What evidence do you have to back up your statement? Using the Pokémon games alone is not enough proof.

EDIT: I just found a source that proves the contrary:

    The Pokémon Ranger Force
Charizard Red (Male) - The leader, with the power of Fire.
Blastoise Blue (Female) - Second-in-command, with the power of Water
Venusaur Green (Male) - Third-in-command, with the power of Grass
Raichu Yellow (Female) - Fourth-in-command, with the power of Electricity
Clefable Pink (Male) - Fifth-in-command, with Normal power

Fire should be RED, not orange!

The colours make sense to me. I see the colour blue as calm, and red as energetic/full of action. The word beauty doesn't really fit with being energetic and bouncing around, when cool does.

Plus, red makes people look fat.

I don't know how gullible everyone here is. Just because the Pokémon world says beauty is blue doesn't make it correct in the real world.

In the real world, this is the way it goes:
    Beauty - Red
    Calmness - Pink
    Coolness - Blue

    End of story.

Not everyone associates those colors with those things. You don't need to call people gullible just because they associate red with coolness or blue with beauty. And as you said, this is the Pokemon world, real-world stuff doesn't have to apply, especially such little things like this.

What about the colors representing types? Both Red and Orange are colors associated with fire, Blue is a color associated with water, and Green is a color associated with grass. The colors representing the types seem realistic in pretty much any Pokémon media, regardless of the specifc color scheme used. I mean, I haven't seen any Pokémon media that associates Fire with blue or green, only red (as in the TCG, Stadium series, and Mystery Dungeon series) or orange (as in the main games, could still be interpreted as red due to the similarity with the color representing Cool contests). GameFreak could have at least applied the same logic with Contests.

Well, you see, grass is green. Water/ocean is blue. You can see it.
With things like beauty it's different because it's just something that's in the eye of the beholder. It can have any color.

Water can actually be red due to a red tide, and fire can be blue due to natural gas or green due to copper compounds.

Yes, I am aware of that.
It still doesn't change the fact that beauty can be blue, red or any other color. It isn't bound to red only.

I think blue is more beautiful then red--and the reason I think of this is because of clothing styles during times like the 1800s. Royalty wore blue often, dark blues, light blues, etc. Red was there too, but when I picture an elegant young lady of that time I see her in blue. There's also Alice in Wonderland--her outfit is very obviously blue, it's pretty and gentle and soft. Whereas, the Red Queen is aggressive and cruel and, well, wears red.

When you see a red bird, you think they are more vibrant--they look louder, in color terms. And, while they are pretty, they don't seem as soft and beautiful as a blue bird. Beauty is more associated with soft and beautiful things rather than vibrant and, well, hot things. I think you are putting too much emphasis on the word Cool--which they could have used a different word entirely, but cool sounded normal compared to things like: Groovy, Awesome, Rad, etc. Cool has a double meaning, English does this a lot with words so naturally the word used in Japan may mean the same thing, but they may have a different word entirely for the word cool referring to temperature. I don't know for certain, though.

You can also do colors in music. Don't think of the 'blues'. Think of a flute--a soft, windy sounding flute playing a slow and gentle melody. It sounds beautiful. It is blue sounding. Something that sounds red... would sound more like swing jazz--you'd want to hear a saxophone.

Blue is a much more beautiful color to me than red so it should represent Beauty. Red is kind of a fierce, in your face color, so is better for representing " Coolness". The creators may have thought the same thing.

Listen, did I say that I believe that because a game said so? It happens to be what I think too - that doesn't automatically mean that it's due to something, or that I'm "gullible". In the real world, that is not "how it goes" - that is your opinion, just as my post was my opinion. I don't really appreciate someone calling me something just because I made a post, thank you.

Wow. o.o; Andros 1337, um, you understand that people have different opinions, right? You might find red to represent beauty, but the creators of Pokemon felt that blue was the better choice. I'm inclined to agree with them because blue is a beautiful color, too. And "cool" is a word which here means "badassness, a person who does amazing things, and is overall appealing and 'hip' to the eye". Not "coldness and ice", which is the "cool blue" you seem to be thinking of.

ALSO OPINIONS DOHOHOH. The Pokemon fandom is probably the only one that comes to blows over debating the "true" color of coolness and beauty. "OTL
Signature is a WIP for the moment.
For now, I have claimed: Mewtwo, Member's Card, Wide Lens, Honey Gather, and Psystrike.

What's the problem here? A lot of people think of blue as the beautiful, calm color and red as the cool color - as in the way FairyRed has stated multiple times already - including the GameFreak guys. That's what they think is how it should be. You can think whatever you want, but that's your opinion, not GameFreak's.

As for me, I agree with them.
