Another formulaic episode. Cilan sure is passionate about a lot of things, isn't he? You know, maybe it's better if some things aren't explained by the anime, because I know of technobabble that's far more plausible than this. Nice to see Tranquil finally got strong enough to beat Woobat.

    I couldn't watch it...
But I saw the original, and it was fine, the dubbed one is probably too :D

Who was Professor Icarus' voice actor? It sounded like Brian Drummond.

    Bulbapedia says Sean Schemmel.

I like Prof. Imori's new name, Icarus. Glad to see the dub didn't give him a stupif name.

As for the episode, meh. Icarus is a cool character and all, and Elgyem was so uguu kawaii desu ne cute, but the episode's plot was so dull I just didn't even care about anything.

Saw this ep on the treadmill so may have missed something :P

Waited for th Eng version of this ep, because it looked awesome. And it was awesome. Cilan's passion about being a Science Connoisseur was great, he should have got himself a Elgyem for sure. Telekinesis instead of Psychic was great for a change, I thought Elygem and Icarus was great even if he looks grumpy. He went from 8 to being a awesome scientist and Axew was so awesome, Dwebble, Pansage, Tranquill.

Is it Vic Mignogna? I remember someone saying he was going to voice a character on this show while he was in New York.

This was a pretty decent episode.

So its pronounced (el-G-yem), not the (elg-yem) I thought it was?

Seriously, Ash STILL couldn't distinguish TRio in their disguises? And he said, "I should've known it was you." Well Ash, you should practice blowing their disguises.

Area 28 eh? And the desert? An Area 51 parody?

Ash was also pretty dumb in this episode. Space aliens?

Also another episode with Cilan's scientific reasoning VS Iris's explanations

Pretty nice episode. Note to writers, this episode is a good example of making a COTD likable. Maybe give them problems beyond their dealings with Pokemon. I thought that little musical jingle playing right at the start of the ep was lovely. Gotta hand it to this ep, it really made me like Elgyem, a poke I didn't really care for. Nicely animated by Ogata too.

Gotta agree with the beginning; the animation was just so fluid and beautiful that it's my favorite part of the episode. When it aired in Japan I really loved Dent's dorky science sommelier/connossieurness. I didn't think this episode was boring at all; the nerd in me was totally loving every minute of it XD

I liked the episode. Elgyem's flashing, lighting hands were kinda cool. (That's minor. Needless to say, I liked the timid Elgyem.)

I thought Professor Icarus was a good character and all--I especially liked when he said that the UFO wasn't his top priority (though he said it in his kind of way, and better). "Icarus" was a good choice for a name, considering he's named after someone who built a flying contraption of a sort. (Of a sort.)

Team Rocket was decent in this episode, and their only too over-the-top contraption was their get-away vehicle. (Alot of "contraptions" in this episode.) (Their scheme in the Cottonee episode wasn't as good; here, they just tried to nab one pokemon, and weren't foiled by the pokemon they stole.) Character-wise, Cilan may have been the worst, but he wasn't that bad. (I imagine cooking to be a science, so eh. I haven't seen Cilan that often, so i don't know how repetitive his "passions" get.) Ash's inability to recognize TR--well, I expect that to happen any and every time TR is in disguise.
Feel free(r) to discuss Battle Strategy with me--I'll discuss anything really.

Besides being a strange (retired) battler with a storied, legendary, mythical, exaggerated, and relatively unknown career, I am also an amateur English B&W anime reviewer. (pachiba, you like?)

    And I take hoedowns seriously.

A pretty decent episode, I guess. At least Cilan got a lot of focus.

Honestly, I sort of just picked him out of the credits list. I looked over the credits and he seemed like the most likely candidate to me (in comparison to Lucario in M08). Here's the full list of the additional cast for this episode:
    Eli James
    Vic Mignogna
    Mike Pollock
    Kayzie Rogers
    Sean Schemmel
    Erica Schroeder
    Marc Thompson
    Tom Wayland

Of course it may have been Vic. The only role I know that Vic played was Omega, and Icarus definitely sounded nothing like Omega.

It's me. Always been me, my own worst enemy, the one who always screws up and lets others down.
