Ranger Stylers sure have become easier to handle since we first were introduced to them. No need to wave your arm all over the place, the ability to what appears to be creating something similar to Mirage Pokémon... (I haven't bought the game yet, so is that pretty much what is going on with Feraligatr?) The twerps were just way too chill in response to that. "Oh, you can make a Feraligatr appear from thin air. Kay." They didn't even really do anything the whole episode aside from wet the ground a little bit, did they?

Well, Ben's more fun than the last guy, I'll give him that. Kind of grated on my nerves at times, though. What's up with this goal of capturing unique Pokémon to deposit in a National Park? Whatever happened to trying to avert catastrophes? I liked Rangers a lot more when that was their intenton.

Not the most fun episode, really. :|

I was never a big fan of this episode at all.

As far as I am concerned, the episode served its purpose of advertising the new Ranger game but that is all.

Ben was there to fulfill his job and likewise the main characters joined him to help him find his stolen Capture Styler. All of this bottled up hype of TRio using the device to command pokemon to their liking turned out to be nothing more than a mere plot device. None of TRio knew how to use the Styler and all their presence did is to bring the main group closer to Heatran.

You can say that the dub sucked out all of the fun from the episode because it took out approximately 90% of the music (usually game-themed episodes were to keep most of the BGM). However, I never felt it to be an enjoyable experience to begin with (but this is just me).

As far as the Ranger game goes, it is my favorite of the trilogy. I love how the Guardian Signs are handled in the game. However, I felt this episode did not do a great enough job to convey the "new-ness" of the Ranger series. This felt like a "filler" episode, except that the COTD is a Pokemon Ranger and a Heatran that knew Eruption was featured.

As far as the dub of this episode went, everything was within expectations except for the surprising lack of retained BGM.

After watching this episode, I would have to say that it was quite dull. Really there was no part that was really serious and it was just goofy compared to the Riolu special.

I'll say. And from a scientific standpoint, should it really be possible to freeze over an entire giant pool of lava?

Edit: Oh wait. Physics and Pokémon don't mix. My bad.

One thing that confused me: why was everyone worrying so much about Heatran falling into the lava and getting hurt? It's practically made of lava, so it shouldn't get hurt. If anything, it should get stronger in the stuff a la Magmar and Moltres. Even Charizard can handle molten rock for a short while.

Still, its Flash Fire should protect it while boosting its power.

It shouldn't be a severe injury is the point.

Anyway, I watched this episode for one reason and one reason only--because it was the last possible chance they had to wrap up the Charon plot. But no, nothing of the sort was brought up and it was just a random Heatran.

I swear, the writers forget that Heatran is legendary, don't they?

Yes, but Flash Fire doesn't have an effect forever, and it would soon wear off.

I really didn't care for the episode. I realy don't know what was the point of even showing it, other than promoting a new game.

That's just how I describe the dialogue! It's also unimaginative, uninspired, poorly delivered, rushed and any other synonym for bad.

Well, was this episode dubbed between:
    - Teaching the Student Teacher! and Keeping in Top Forme!
    - Keeping in Top Forme! and An Elite Coverup!
    - A Grand Fight for Winning! and For the Love of Meowth!

Because they began improving around An Elite Coverup! and Dawn of a Royal Day!.

With it being given a 50/50 gender ratio, I'm not even sure if the game designers were sure if it's supposed to be a legendary.

Anyway, yeah, a 30-minute commercial for the newest game. It would at least seem less artifical if Rangers were mentioned outside of episodes specially made to promote them. No really, after the special is over, Rangers and everything to do with them just seem to drop of the face of the Pokémon world.

I'm sure Heatran is more of a Pokemon world equivalent to a cryptid, hence its legendary status. Deoxys is legendary because its a space-virus or something. For all we know, that thing could be quite common in outer space and is just lying dormant. It's not like Deoxys didn't get featured in some random show. The only difference is that Heatran isn't shown to be that powerful in the anime. We really shouldn't apply our narrow definition of what a legendary Pokemon is when apparently they have subcategories in Japan. I'd say Heatran is technically in the same class as Mew.

Also don't get how a Heatran is in any danger at all falling into lava.

I wonder if Pokemon get annoyed when they're just randomly summoned...

It has a 600 BST, cannot breed, and isn't part of an evolution line. That's pretty much the exact definition of a legendary otherwise all the other 600 BST aren't Legendary either.

Oh and I love the Narrator, not as epic as the narrator in the Snorlax Sumo Episode (in Johto, although it was Brock that made the joke work), but it's still quite up there. I too was wondering how they were going to dub it but LOL generic Narrator opening is still awesome "Our Heroes continue their Sinnoh Region Journey" definitely made me laugh.

And huh, it seems I was the only one who was perfectly fine with this episode. I think some of you are just spoiled when it comes to certain episodes, because I didn't find anything too not likeable about this episode. Except that rhyming thing Team Rocket did in the beginning. Neutral Dustin strikes again I guess. Though it may be partially because it's been ages since I saw the raw, seeing as how it was delayed even longer than its original timeline.
