    So, question.

In the English versions of the games, was the apron from Aloe's game sprite edited out?

Nope. This is the first time we've seen Lenora like that...(If anything, the only sprite I expected to get edited was Skyla's...)

Huh. Interesting. I was sure they would have edited that.

Oh well. Going back at this thread, and how we pretty much predicted the apron edit taking place back in November is pretty amusing to me.

Why is a black woman wearing an apron considered racist in the first place?
If you ask me our modern world doesn't appreciate the hard work of housewives and good mothers enough any more. After all, they're the backbone of our society.
To be honest the real discrimination is that you're obviously no longer allowed to show housewives on TV nowadays... What a shame.

I believe it has something to do with this:

    I could be wrong though.

But, rly these guys are crazy as fu*k if they think a black woman wearing an apron racist. I just can't see any racial issues there. Radicals as they call em

Isn't it kinda racist to avoid showing black women in aprons AT ALL?
It is as if black women weren't allowed to wear aprons anymore or otherwise they would support a "bad stereotype".

Aloe's apron is used for her archaeologic work anyway, I guess.

A few weeks ago some journalist summed it up quite nicely:
We are suffocating on our own political correctness.

I love the whole "Well, *I'm* not offended by this, so that means that nobody else would ever be offended by it, either" argument being passed around.

There are plenty of people out there who have real, legit reasons to feel like the image of Aloe in an apron is an offensive stereotype.

For the longest time I thought she was an archeologist who was also a chef. Thanks for explaining that. :P

You are right. The prob edited her apron out due to the fact that they did not want to cause another jinx controversy. Although pokemon currently is kinda bit low profile to for it to get complaints, in my opinion.

And I am watching the epi now and so far I like it :)

The Archeos episode has her drawn in the apron-behind-back manner of her redesigned game art, though.

Well, remember this edit (and the edit to the official artwork) was likely done because NoA/TPCI's marketing guys sent some frantic "holy shit guys, we can't publish THIS! Change it!!!" messages to their Japanese counterparts. There's no real need for the change to be made to the actual Japanese version, since no one over there are likely to give a shit.

The edited version will likely be the one to be distributed worldwide by TPCI, though. Not so much because people outside the one specific country they're located in are likely to care, but because a) they probably don't feel too comfortable distributing the uncensored version of stuff they specifically demanded be censored and b) being from that specific country, they're probably not all that aware of how unlikely people are to care elsewhere.
