Well, it would make sense. Consider that Jun's appearance pretty much came out of nowhere, and he's staying for a longer period of time than most characters.

The only thing Noctowl was good for was battling ghost Pokemon, too bad its been left to rot when it could have been useful here.

I believe so, unless you count Agatha's standing in at the Viridian Gym at the beginning of Battle Frontier.

Agatha as a Ghost E4
Morty as a Ghost GL
Phoebe as a Ghost E4
and Fantina as a Ghost GL

So yes, she's the second Ghost Gym Leader in the series.

Agatha was in the anime as a gym leader and as a member of the elite four when we saw her though, moreso as a gym leader so technically Fantina's the third ghost gym leader we've seen.

She, Agatha was temporary though. She said a substitute was being searched for. Its unfair though. She is an E4....how are trainers supposed to win when they are only expecting a much less stronger GL.

I have to sneak in here to say that I am so happy to have so much Jun! (My favorite Pokemon Character so far) We get to see him for at least 3 episodes, it's awesome!

I love this episode.

Not only does Jessie win another ribbon, Chimchar is the star of Fantina. Buizel knocked out Gengar, and was recalled. Chimchar beat Mismagius and then was recalled. Pikachu lost to Drifblim, Buizel lost to Drifblim, and Chimchar beat Drifblim.

Chimchar was really happy too, and although we only see Jessie's appeal (which involves silver wind blowing in her hair, and having the audience go crazy over). It's still better than nothing. I have a prediction, we have 3 gyms left, no doubt Jessie will get the 5 required ribbons by the Sinnoh Grand Festival.

So much for this just being a regular gym episode... Musashi has two ribbons! Woo-hoo!

I already speculated she'll do some Contests that Dawn won't or when they aren't after the twerps...

I thought that was just wishful thinking before, but I think you may be on to something now. If this is what it takes for Musashi to go to the Grand Festival then I'm all for it!

Great episode. Hikozaru won two battles which should make most people happy. I would've preferred Pikachu won the other instead of Buizel, but it's not like Pikachu hasn't gotten enough screen time.

This was more exciting than the last gym match. Satoshi having a challenge to overcome that he needed to train for, and only having one pokemon left made this a much more satisfying win.

And Musashi won another ribbon! Only three more to go!

DP102 "Yosuga Gym Match! Vs. Melissa!!"

Summary and Impressions:
- Episode starts off just before the battle
- Hayashigame is in the OP
- Musalina is seen going to a contest hall
- Melissa begins with Gangar and Satoshi sends out Bouysel
- Gangar avoids all of Bouysel's moves
- Bouysel makes a hit when it counters a Hypnosis and performs a break dance-like water gun.
- Bouysel manages to get a win after a Water Pulse
- Meanwhile, Musalina enters a contest with Megayanma and her loose hair wows the crowd
- Melissa sends out Mumage and Satoshi sends out Hikozaru
- Hikozaru is able to give Mumage a beating but is eventually stopped with a Magical Leaf
- Hikozaru manages to attack with a spreading Flame Wheel and counters a Psywave in order to knock out Mumage
- On the Rocket-dan side, Musalina obtains a new ribbon
- Never noticed that Fuwaride had a mouth
- Fuwaride is pitted against Pikachu
- Pikachu is then thrown of the field
- Then Bouysel gets knocked out
- Hikozaru is then sent out and Satoshi tries to take advantage of Will-O-Wisp
- Hikozaru proceeds to knock out Fuwaride, winning the match
- Jun talks about going to Mio City
- The group decides to go to Mio CIty
- Satoshi and Jun declare each other rivals

Oakido-hakase lecture on Lapras

Not much development in terms of plot which is usually the case with Gym episodes. We got treated to a nice battle although some of the Melissa scenes were repeated. I wasn't expecting Musalina to participate in a contest, and even win it. The animation was pretty good in the episode. Nothing notable in terms of music. Overall this episode deserves an 8.5/10

[Okido-Hakase]

High Touch Instrumental used, forgot if it was before the opening or before the show started. Interesting looking referee. Satoshi's Theme played during battle, kind of weird hearing it out of the previews. Deai to Wakareto plays at end.

Anyways, Buizel beats Gengar pretty soundly, uses Water Gun all over the place. Hikozaru uses Flamethrower in the same style, like a garden sprinkler. It keeps deflecting the psychic attacks and hitting Melissa's monsters. That happened a lot throughout the episode. Hikozaru beat Mumage pretty easily too.

Pretty predictable how Satoshi cycled through Pikachu, Buizel, and Hikozaru when fighting Fuwaride. Pikachu didn't do so well at all.

Musashi won another ribbon, that's good, this time the crowd was wild though she had Megayanma use Silver Wind on herself (meaning she was kinda still the spotlight)

Nice way to deal with TR during Gym Battles and get Jessie some more ribbons at the same time. I didn't expect that either.

I was worried Satoshi was going to lose. Glad he won! That dang balloon creeped me out. ;_;
